This cpu is hard to find stats for. Few reviews from youtubers that are out there simply hate Ryzen 5 4500, but that might be due to price at launch, and for this CPU being not a new shiny thing, but a gap filler.With the recent price reduction - this is a good value offer from microcenter. This is a budget way to get into AM4 platform, which is at the end of its timeline, but still is strong. The performance while not the same as all the top dogs, still keeps up in many tasks with i7-8700k, which is still plenty for most of applications today.I got this CPU for my son's machine, where it is paired with GTX-1080 for an ultimate FHD study/play machine.Keep in mind that if you want to install it into an old AM4 motherboard it needs to have a fresh BIOS.

Well, speaking as a PC gamer, 6 years ago, tired of limited perfomance on the Fx-6300, i switched to intel (4690K) and i have been very happy with it over the years. Sure, the 10600k is the new standard for a balanced gaming chip, but man, it cost about 30-40% more and its definitly hard to find anywhere ( at least when i was looking for a replacement), besides z490 platform doesn´t really bring any new, relevant or practical thing to the table. AMD on the other hand has PCI 4.0 support for both fast SSDs and GPUs (being the last one not so relevant right now), AM4 socket still viable on the next couple of years..... etc Right now waiting for my uncle to bring me this CPU along with other stuff to my new AMD platform, so i haven´t tested it yet, but am sure i made the right call considering all my options, gonna update once i can finally test it. Edit jan-2021: Well am running this CPU on my updated system, everything runs great, GPU usage around 100%, almost always, now i can play games like Cyberpunk with no compromises on the FPS side untill i get my GPU to the very limits. The only thing that bothers me a little are operational temps compared to my devil´s canyon (not way more higher, just some degrees up), i may change thermal paste since i don´t trust that thing anymore (coolermaster mastergel maker), but general opinions tells me that ryzen temps ARE like this, since am using my own aftermarket cooler, i can just only guess operational temps with the stock bundled cooler are worst but right in the standar of ryzen functional temps

I know we’re at the tail end of AM4 processors and builds, but I wanted to squeeze out a bit more performance from my current build. For 8 months, I ran a R5 2600 with a 3080ti. Quality was great, but I didn’t realize my FPS could get a huge boost.I mainly play Modern Warfare and was getting about 75-80 fps with high settings on my 2600.Since jumping to this CPU, I’m around 140 fps and everything is super smooth.I feel like my GPU let out a big sigh of relief when I popped this CPU in.The price is right, the performance is right, and MW2 is right around the corner. I’m ready.

Upgraded from a Ryzen 5 3600 to the newer 5600x.Pros: Faster in every respectCooler then the 3600, sits at 45c with the stock coolerFaster boost speedEasy upgrade install, just install and the system sees the new processorCooler is pretty reliable and was pre-pasted so you don't have to buy anything (You can remove and add better paste but the stock is keeping the pc cool)Easy to overlockCons: Not the newest generation but that being said the new gen is 35%+ more expensive for only a small gain.

I can't speak for system builders who pay up the wazoo for the absolute best components that money can buy. I can only speak for budget builders. If you're someone whose build was functional but getting so old that your options to upgrade were getting severely handicapped (for example, no more driver support for sound, graphics or mobo), you can't go wrong with this CPU. I was making the jump from AM3+ to AM4 and before this came out was looking at a minimum of 300 bucks to get an equivalent system.Luckily, this came along and paired with a mobo, cost me less than 200 bucks. The heatsink + fan combo uses a different mounting bracket than my motherboard, so I couldn't use them. What this means is that if there's a mismatch with your mobo, you may either have to use a preexisting fan + heatsink combo, buy a new one, or purchase a new bracket. So, there's this small issue to consider before buying this CPU.
All I'm gonna say is. I've bought this processor like 10 times since it launched, and have only stopped purchasing them because there's an even better value option now, the non-X version. You can't beat the value, and it's perfect since AMD dropped the 5800x3D. So if this one, or the 5600 non-x aren't holding up for you, the 5800x3D is the perfect step up in performance. AM4 might be dead now, with AM5 being the future for AMD, but all that really means is, you've got and even better chance at building a true sub-600 budget build with a strong upgrade path. B550 boards will give you great memory OC capabilities, all the PCIe 4.0 for your current generation GPUs and at least 1 NVMe SSD.
This processor is required for some upgrades to Windows 11. The processor provides a lot of security and stability. You may need to flash your BIOS for the X300 series chipsets but they will still give you good functionality with the newer OS. You will find that it is compatible with many mid-range motherboards that are good in gaming setups. The Renoir processors are very versatile, with good everyday purposes applications but can handle heavy graphics processing with support from good graphics adapters of a low midrange capability such as the gtx 1000s or RX 500s series.

I found that after running some games like Arizona Sunshine or Time Carnage VR, the CPU would spike up to 98-100% on all cores while the GPU was maxing out at about 45%. I decided to rebuild the computer using this CPU, an ASRock B550 Taichi, and 32 gigs of ram. I kept the GPU since a graphics card will pretty much cost you an organ these days, and the 1080 is still a strong performer. The 5600X is about 700 mhz faster than the 6700, has 2 additional cores and 4 more threads, a much newer architecture, and it made short work of load times! In the AMD lineup, for gaming, the 5600X is it. The 5600X is probably the very best price:performance deal in computer chips in a very long time!
