As I am writing this review, this CPU is currently at ~53c with the wraith stealth cooler. That's not so bad is it? Well, the second you give it any kind of load, temps jump up to 95c and stay there. You'll find that your CPU will throttle itself down from it's advertised boost speed of 5100MHz to around 4600MHz which is far from ideal. Tweaking some settings in the BIOS did allow me to get to about 4800MHz - 4900MHz but the temps still remained at 95c. Now, this is just the nature of the 7000 series CPUs, 95c is where they usually end up sitting but the problem with the stock cooler is that it doesn't allow the CPU to boost up to it's advertised speed. I would absolutely recommend you get a decent cooler to go along with this. The Deepcool AK500 or something similar to that would be a good pairing for this CPU in my opinion. Now, the positives of this CPU. As mentioned before, the need for motherboards that support DDR5 and most likely the latest PCIe 5.0 does mean upgrading down the line will be very simple with AM5 confirmed to be supported for at least 5 years. Another pro of this CPU is that the non 'X' variant of the Ryzen 5 7600 performs very well against it's bigger X variant brother with significantly less power draw. In my -albeit limited- testing of my CPU, power draw never went over 90W. This falls in line with other people's experiences with any non X 7000 series CPUs which is very exciting for people who are conscious about power draw. This CPU being paired with a RX 6700xt easily plows through every game I've played at 1080p and runs well at 1440p.Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to get themselves an upgrade for relatively cheap (compared to other current gen CPUS). Just make sure to pick up an aftermarket cooling solution.

This was my first AM5 CPU after many years using many AM4 parts. It runs very quickly and beats my old Ryzen 7 5700x on many tasks despite having 2 less cores. It runs cool under full synthetic load at 65 C, but I am using a Thermaltake King Assassin air cooler on it. Never draws more than about 90 watts with all cores at 5100 MHz. Its a nice, low-cost introduction to the AM5 world. Now if the 7700 would just come down in price . . .

Great CPU, lousy stock cooler
31 December 2023

The cost-to-performance of this CPU is fantastic. The integrated graphics is useful during build, but probably won’t be useful for much gaming. I did have to fully disable the integrated graphics before my discrete GPU would produce output; your mileage may vary. I had no luck at all with the stock cooler included in the box. The CPU was throttling under most workloads with the stock cooler installed. I swapped it for a Noctua cooler and the difference was night and day. Do yourself a favor and pick up an external cooler right away.

Anytime a sustained workload gets placed on it, it will keep boosting until it reaches TJMax. Not a problem if you have a good cooler (ps. thermalright has some cheap ones that can handle the power).- Want EXPO speeds above 6000 MHz? Too bad.- AM5 motherboards will run you a pretty penny. Different socket than AM4. However, AMD claims they will support it for a while, so maybe its worth it.

Pros,1. Currently the most inexpensive AM5 CPU that can be easily bought. The Ryzen 5 7500F isn't for sale in the USA at the moment.2. Great single and multi thread performance for a 6c/12t CPU.3. It's unlocked so you can overclock it or just use the easier PBO2.4. A great starting point if you want to later get a better CPU in the AM5 platform.5. When overclocked it matches and can sometimes slightly beat the Ryzen 5 7600X.6. Even without overclocking it performs nearly as good as a Ryzen 5 7600X.7. I fortunately had some gift card to take my price down to 199.2. To run this CPU you'll need to move the pricier AM5 motherboards and DDR5.3. Unlike the Intel competition you don't have an option to run cheaper DDR4 and Intel motherboards are much cheaper average for a real good one.4. This CPU isn't the best for multitasking and for productivity workloads. If you're a gamer and only do some productivity workloads this CPU should be good otherwise I'd recommend the Intel competition because it has those extra E cores to help with heavy workloads.

Your free shipping was very quick (2 Days)I just used my old 3700x AMD RGB cooler that came with it stock and it works fine for me, paired with GSKill Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR 5 6000Mhz CL 30 memory.I really only game with the system and that cooler with Corsair 50XTM tim keeps me around 75c and I am still getting my 5450Mhz boost. it does not run at 105watt gaming with that cooler., seems to limit itself to 65watt package without me doing anything and it knows the plan.!

When it was time for a new budget gaming PC build, I was torn between going Intel like I normally did in the past or finally jumping over to Team Red and giving AMD another shot after a lot of years of being away. The Ryzen 5 7600x can easily be found in the $200ish price range and this thing is a monster for the price. It may only have 6 cores and 12 threads but if you are looking for a purely gaming PC with some light video editing etc, this thing performs great. The cores are super fast at stock clocks and there is quite a bit of room to go with some proper cooling and overclocking.I was looking for a strictly gaming PC with this as I do have a workstation PC and did not need to go overkill for the CPU. This is paired with 32GB of 6000MHz DDR5 ram and I have ... MoreWhen it was time for a new budget gaming PC build, I was torn between going Intel like I normally did in the past or finally jumping over to Team Red and giving AMD another shot after a lot of years of being away. The Ryzen 5 7600x can easily be found in the $200ish price range and this thing is a monster for the price. It may only have 6 cores and 12 threads but if you are looking for a purely gaming PC with some light video editing etc, this thing performs great. This is paired with 32GB of 6000MHz DDR5 ram and I have been pleasantly surprised with this when editing videos and photos and find myself doing more tasks on my gaming PC instead of transferring to the workstation.Core count is not as necessary currently for PC gaming but core clock speeds are and this thing won't let you down for gaming. Also, don't worry about bottlenecks and pair this with any GPU you want, you won't be disappointed for the price and performance. It's a super fast chip and for gaming, you can't go wrong if your budget is tight.
