19 Crimes Uprising Red 750ml

(78 reviews)

Varietal: Shiraz 86%, Merlot 7%, Cabernet 7%. 19 Crimes is defiant by nature, bold in character, and always uncompromising. A portion of this wine has been aged for 30 days in rum barrels and is dark with jammy berry flavours and a smoky finish.Nineteen crimes turned convicts into colonists. Upon conviction British rogues guilty of at least one of the 19 crimes were sentenced to live in Australia, rather than death. This punishment by "transportation" began in 1787 and many of the lawless died at sea. For the rough-hewn prisoners who made it to shore, a new world awaited. As pioneers in a frontier penal colony, they forged a new country and new lives, brick by brick. This wine celebrates the rules they broke and the culture they built.Tasting Note: Medium red with bright ruby hues, this wine confidently takes charge with intense notes of mocha and caramel that compliments subtle flavours of brown sugar and cinnamon.

The 'Uprising' variant of the 19 Crimes range of wine is stunningly good, with excellent aromas of fruit and vanilla, followed with a rich rounded berry palet. It is priced well and excellent quality. The only draw back in my view, is that it is difficult to limit yourself to one glass and like all good things, when they come to an end you can't wait for the next opportunity to open another bottle!

I found that the previous vintage was a bit more 'fruity' in flavor and more enjoyable for me. This is still a good drop and I prefer it to the Yellow Tail Big Bold Red but it is usually more expensive

Easy to drink
5 December 2022

Bought this in a cartoon of 6, tasted OK but left a rich blackish colour in the touge. Some cheaper wines did so when drinking, but for a reputed brand wine, this isn't ideal. Not sure if this is normal or this is just another casual one like any other.

From a non-red drinker’s point of view
30 June 2021

For years I have loved the smell of red wines, But always been very disappointed when I’ve had a taste. That’s until I tried 19 Crimes Uprising. It’s a really full bodied wine smooth to drink, with no bitter after taste. My partner, who has drunk reds for many years, also loves it. Great wine, great price….win win!

Good starter red
9 September 2021

If you aren’t a wine/bitter person, perhaps not this one. It’s buttery, tart, dark berries, smokey. But, it doesn’t have that bite that acidic or tannins do.

Only got a bottle today, & the rum flavour in the red is very flavoursome & is so good on the Palate, would be great with any red meat & we had a meat lover’s pizza

Great taste & price

Tried this wine on the recommendation from a friend. Such a great taste from a very inexpensive wine & it's from South Australia. Won't be buying anything else from now on.

My wife's favourite tipple
12 September 2021

We first discovered 19 Crimes about 4 years ago when we were in Bermuda, of all places. My wife fell in love with it and we have bought it regularly ever since returning to Australia. At the time of writing this review there is a good discount available if you buy two bottles.

Full bodied flavour without pepperiness of a Shiraz. Smooth and whole mouth flavour. Really enjoyed this wine.
