3M HRXS221A Peltor WorkTunes Pro AM/FM Radio Headband Headset

Positive: excellent ear defender quality, quiet and comfortable. Negative: Quite cheap and tinny sounding radio. Since you can get good Peltor Ear defenders for about £16, they must be charging £50 for the radio, which is very over-priced.

This was a replacement for a previous Peltor radio headset that had manual tuning. This model is cheaper, the sound quality is better and ability to have automatic tuning makes it very much better.

3M great products. I had the older model but getting worn and wires exposed. this new model is easier to use and doesn't change volume or station if you happen to brush against the dials, plus no aerial (handy when wearing under rain hood) to hit off, can be a nuisance if you're up a tree.

Great quality ear defenders with fantastic sound and reception,after having the other model with manual tuning I find these just as good and half the cost of my previous pair.

AM/FM headset

Product worked better than expected. Highly recommend this product and this retailer. Shipping was as to be expected with the current covid19 desruptions.

Good and bad

This headset was easy to use once I got used to the timing of pressing the buttons.It has excellent FM reception probably the best I have heard but the AM reception is awful. I would not have bought these if I had known how bad it was

Great Hearing Protection

Provides excellent hearing protection, (you cannot dial the volume beyond a safe level), and you can find all the AM and FM stations in range through its inbuilt search function. It also allows the user to select and store frequencies so you don't have to search the frequency band. Top piece of kit!!

Poor reception in regional areas

I was very disappointed that compared to previous models the reception clarity had decreased significantly! In the cities it might be ok, but in regional areas like where I live, getting rid of the external antenna has reduced the reception by 60% in my estimation compared to the previous models. This makes it almost unusable. Bring back the external antenna!!

Review of Ear Defenders, Radio AM/FM, with Headband

Good FM reception even in difficult areas. All my previous headphones had external antennas which are vulnerable to overhanging branches, get snagged frequently, start to come adrift after many months needing to be glued and taped in position to extend their life, but not indefinitely. I tried another make with an internal antenna from a different supplier but the reception was rubbish and they had to be sent back for a refund. For that reason I was hesitant about ordering the 3M Peltor Ear Defenders with their internal antenna... I needn't have worried, their FM reception was equal to any I had worn with a 'Telly Tubby' aerial sticking out the top!

Third time lucky, hopefully.

I've had a pair of Stanley radio ear defender's they stop,working after a month, then a pair Nordstand ,which also stopped working. These Peltor haven't yet 2 weeks in. The strength of the radio reception is better than the other 2 ,and the external noise blocking is better, and very comfortably to wear. Down side is ,I brought the other 2 for approximately the same I spent on these ones ,but at the moment they are still working ,but if they do break I'll will want another pair of these !!
