I received this pretty pearl blush colored suitcase and immediately thought how pretty it would be for a young girl or any girl, young or old! It is a 20” hardside piece of luggage and weighs only 5.7 lbs. The height of the bag is 22.4” with wheels and measures 22.4” by 13.4” by 8.7”. The wheels move smoothlessly over any terraine and spin in 360* so you never have to pick up your suitcase to move it in any direction. It has an extendable handle so you are able to roll your unit right next to you instead of behind you. This way your eyes are on your suitcase 100% of the time and you don't have to worry about someone tripping over your case when they aren't looking where they are going. After unzipping the lining, there are three or four panhead screws that have to be unscrewed to remove each wheel (in case the holes on the outside are not a way to remove the wheels). Why not make an easily-removable latch for each wheel? At any rate, it can be carried like a normal suitcase with the handle that's on the side edge of it but that kind of defeats the purpose of a roll-around. And I know how many times I've gotten up to the door of the plane and my luggage tagged and thrown out the side door of the skyway because the overheads are full. There is a neat lock function (instructions included in the case). The dial has to start at 000. You then insert a tool (not included - apparently anything that will fit into the cylinder is OK) to press the "reset" button until you hear a click. Then set your combination. You then push a button toward the red dot until you hear a click and now its set. You then open it and insert the zipper ends into the slots and change the numbers to something that's NOT your combination. There is a hole next to it that the TSA can insert a tool into and release the ends of the zipper (which is what closes the case - there aren't hard sides with latches - it's all a zippered closure) to open the case if they need to. The USB function is really a neat thing to have. The only issue is that you have a really really really short USB plug on the inside to plug in the case to charge it. If you're charging from your laptop, you can just set your laptop inside the case and plug it in. Otherwise, if you're charging from a USB block, you'll need a USB cable extension. Now let's talk about capacity. It holds a nice amount of clothing (if you can pack light, it could be a week's worth). I fit 6 men's short-sleeved shirts (button up and pull-over), 3 pairs of slacks/jeans, 1 suit jacket, 1 pair of swim trunks and 3 pairs of men's shoes into it with plenty of room to spare, and that was without the expansion are unzipped. That should allow another few shirts and slacks and some toiletries. Unzipped, I'm sure it wouldn't fit into the carry-on category. It has a TON of zippered compartments inside (some are kind of flimsy and some are water-resistant) and a suit bag. All in all, I really like this and it's a great-looking bag but probably not for your air travel.
I received my Protege Hardside luggage in the Lilas Pink and thought it was a really cool color. I then noticed a dent in the edge of the suitcase. I tried to push it out but could not get it to budge. I didn't want to use something to push it out as I was afraid of breaking the plastic. The color of this luggage is beautiful but unfortunately it seems to be made of very flimsy plastic. You can actually wobble the side of the luggage if you push on it. I think it will be ok as a carry on but I certainly wouldn't send it through checked baggage as I would be afraid of it cracking especially if it got really cold and then hit something. I tried to push it out but could not get it to budge. I didn't want to use something to push it out as I was afraid of breaking the plastic. The color of this luggage is beautiful but unfortunately it seems to be made of very flimsy plastic. You can actually wobble the side of the luggage if you push on it. I think it will be ok as a carry on but I certainly wouldn't send it through checked baggage as I would be afraid of it cracking especially if it got really cold and then hit something. If this suitcase were made of better material, it could be a very nice carry on. It has a silky lining inside and had a strap to keep things in place. It also has one zippered side to keep items in place. I was able to put quite a bit of stuff in this little 20 inch suitcase. This suitcase has a nice drop down handle for wheeling it and the wheels work very well. Overall, I would not recommend the Protege Hardside luggage to you.
This Swiss Tech luggage is the perfect travel companion. My husband used this on a recent week long trip and said it was the best luggage he has ever used and refuses to let me try it!! The combination lock is so easy and is TSA approved. All in all, it is an attractive piece of luggage that solves so many packing problems.
