Extremely good pants

This is my 5th pair of pants from 5.11. All their pants are really good. I have two pairs of the tac lite pro, and three of these. Both models are very similar, but these are a little tapered going towards the feet; although they are still very roomy. Love the multiple pockets. Although I do wish they’d make the small front covered Velcro pocket a bit deeper for slightly bigger flashlights. As of now I just use it to hold a spare magazine for my carry. The flashlight just clips into my main pocket. I carry a lot on me on a daily basis. Firearm, extra mag, flashlight, multi tool, phone, wallet, keys, ear buds, backup battery, coins, and a water bottle all in the pockets. These pants carry it all without issue.

I have wore 511 pants for almost 14 years. I use to buy the tac light pros and that is all I wore. Since the ABR pant came out, I find these are better. They move, feel great, comfortable, color doesn’t fade, etc. the only other pant that I wear is the apex which are really nice also. I do everything in 511 pants and have a collection of shirts as well. The only downside is the price. The pants are little steep in the price, but I guess if you want a durable pair of pants, these are the way to go.

Great pants, but the straight fit is not for me

The pants look and function great. Tons of pockets which is exactly what I needed. Unfortunately the fit was not for me. I knew I took a gamble with the straight fit but it was far too tight and lacked comfort when bending over and kneeling. I now know that I need to get relaxed fit when ordering pants from 5.11 Tactical. The return process was painless. If you're used to a straight fit then this should work for you. If you need a more relaxed fit I would recommend another pair

Great, but could be better
24 January 2023

This is my fourth pair of 5.11 pants I've purchased. The other three being a pair of the Defender Jeans and two pairs of Apex. I love the idea of the ABR Pro pants, but I feel like a little more elasticity in the crotch/thigh region would make them fantastic. For context: I'm 6', 312lbs, and I have big, muscular thighs. With how I conceal carry, I would have to buy a size larger just to accommodate that.Other than that one aspect, I love these pants just as much as the other products I've bought. No other complaints.

I was under the impression
2 January 2023

I was under the impression that the ABR Pro Pants I purchased was not going to meet up with my expectations because of the straight leg length and seemingly too thin material for cold weather. They seem to be nicely warm in cold weather. The fit in my waist area was good and comfortable. I wish the close button was a snap instead of a button. They seem to be built to last. The ability to squat in comfort was pleasantly surprising. I would have given a better rating if the pants length opening was wider to fit over my work boots, snap closing mechanism instead of a button and the zipper catch was a little bit longer to grab like a pair of work pants I bought years ago.

Modern alternative to Tac Lite
20 May 2021

These are very similar to the ubiquitous 5.11 Tac Lite pants, being similar in design as far as pockets go. The differences are that the material is a little lighter weight, and the cut through the lower legs is more tapered, giving it a little more of a modern look. There’s also an additional slip pocket at about the 7 o’clock position, above the regular left rear pocket. Unlike the one below, the upper slip pocket doesn’t have a velcro tab to secure contents. It seems sized well for a large phone or rifle mag. Also, the fastener at the top of the zipper is a button on a short cord instead of a snap. It doesn’t feel as sturdy as the snap on a Tac Lite, but I own multiple pairs of the ABR, and I haven’t had one fail me yet. What I like about the ABR is the lightness of the fabric, which make them more comfortable in warm temperatures. Also, although the legs taper, I still have free range of movement, unlike the TRU-SPEC 24-7 Guardian pants that have a similar modern appearance but are much more constricted in the thigh and groin, making them ill-suited for hiking or other activities that require mobility. One negative of the ABR is that the material appears to attract and retain pet hair more than Tac Lites. Still, they are a fav, and I wish 5.11 made them in more colors, especially grey/storm/charcoal.

Nice pant for daily use. comfortable, fit great.

These fit great. Use them when I'm on call outs, as Chaplain. I'm 5'11", 198lbs.They are a tad thinner then I expected, but are ideal for the southwest. Material is similar looking to 'ripstop' but thicker and not 'slick' or 'glossy' like most Nylon ripstop. The 'grabstrap' across the back may be mistaken for a back pocket, if you used to wearing bluejeans.Lots of pockets, in the right places. I like these pants!

Not my choice of pant.
6 September 2022

For my work uniform I have to wear a black "tactical" style pant. For this purpose I have bought and tested multiple 5.11 pant models. The ABR Pro Pant is not my favorite. The pant material to me is very stiff, which causes the seat of the pant to uncomfortably ride up while sitting or crouching. There is not give in the material as seen with the Stryke or the Apex. Because of this I also find it difficult to get my hands in and out of the normal pants pockets, and the cargo pockets do not provide any give to accommodate larger objects you may be trying to stash. While the material is good at holding up against scrapes from falls, having dog nails against them, the Teflon finish does not seem to be the same quality as seen on the Stryke as I have had multiple issues ... MoreFor my work uniform I have to wear a black "tactical" style pant. This pant material also seems to attract hair and animal fur like magnet. For these reasons I can not recomend this product as I can for so many others. This may be the perfect fit for some. But, in my professional capacity, I can not recommend them.

Covering the clothes with Teflon? What type of idiot thinks it's OK to add Teflon to clothing? "Forever" chemicals don't exit the human body. Teflon caused cancer, disrupts the endocrine system, and more. This needs to stop. Washing your clothes, spreads that Teflon to your other clothes, and spreads the cancer causing chemicals around. What type of idiot thinks Teflon on clothes is a good idea?

Pants are great! They fit well and are comfortable enough to wear during long days. I really like the slim/tapered look to them as many cargo pants are typically far too baggy. One of my favorite designs is the extra large belt loop on the back of the pants that keeps your belt from riding up onto your back when bending over, sitting down, etc. Pockets are large and the velcro on the leg pockets is strong enough to keeps things secured. I’m three weeks in wearing these pants multiple days a week to work and so far no early signs of wear.
