I own over 7 pairs of these pants. I love them and wear them everyday. I have been seeing a pattern of failure on them wear the material below the key ring holder starts to wear out and end up cutting a hole in the pants from the keys swinging back and forth from everyday use. This happens over 6 months or so but this has happened to 3 or 4 of my pairs.I also notice the material wear down around where my phone sits in the pocket. If there is a way to thicken these areas that would be awesome.I’ll definitely keep buying these pants just sucks this happens.I have pictures and can share with anybody from 5.11.

I purchased these with the promise that if I didn't like them, I could return them without any problems. This was, in fact, a lie. I was not allowed to return them even though I only wore them once. I purchased some other pants online to try them out at the same time with the same understanding that I would be able to try and return if they didn't work out. They did not work out. I was hoping to find the perfect pair of pants from 511. I had high hopes, but it seems my relationship with them is concluded. I will not tolerate dishonesty.

This model pant is excellent for work, even in warm weather because they absorb perspiration so it can dry. The 100% polyester pants do not allow for that. They are priced lower than some others but are still quite durable. The weight might be an issue for some after wearing all day but sometimes it just depends on wearing the right size. The deep and open design of the back pockets makes them good for items like gloves or a rag/towel or something of the sort in them, maybe even a phone. This pant has the flexible waistband like the Stryke (which I normally wear outside of work along with Apex and Ridge). Unlike the Stryke, the side leg pockets are not deep enough for the average smart phone but the hand pockets and back pockets are. Great pants at a great price. I've tried wranglers ranger pants, carhartt technical pants, Duluth trading utility pants and many others. They all had shortcomings that I was uninterested in paying full price for. These however I believe are worth the cost. I use my work pants for construction work, shooting competitions and hiking/ camping. These keep me cool in the heat and offer great tear resistance. They wear true to size and I like the colors offered, especially the dark green. It's basically ranger green, and it blends well with my gear of the same color.
Having had 5.11 Stryke trousers for years, I've dropped some weight and needed to go down a size. Can't afford £80 a pair for the Stryke so tried these as I know people at work with them. Unfortunately, they must have changed the cut of them as my colleagues have nice fitted leg trousers, these were like clown pants. So wide round the thighs they looked utterly ridiculous. Had to send them back for refund. Material etc seemed nice so I've you've got enormous thighs they'll probably be great but for normally shaped people...I did email Patrol Store to ask if there were alternatives with a different cut but the reply I got just listed the trousers they sell, including these ones, so either staff don't know anything about the product they sell or just couldn't be ... MoreHaving had 5.11 Stryke trousers for years, I've dropped some weight and needed to go down a size. I’ve been wearing these pants for over two decades, first the all cotton version while I was working as an electrician, then the Taclite Pro after I retired in 2009.Absolutely fantastic pants. They wear like iron, very hard to stain and any stain you do get USUALLY comes out with a little pre-treatment, they are cool in the summer and certainly warm enough in the winter. They fit true to size with plenty of “dancing room” and don’t bunch up and pinch when kneeling down. If there is any chance of being exposed to fire, stick with the all cotton version, but for normal wear, these are superior since they are lighter in weight and a bit cooler in hot weather, which keeps the “boys” cool and calm. If there is any chance of being exposed to fire, stick with the all cotton version, but for normal wear, these are superior since they are lighter in weight and a bit cooler in hot weather, which keeps the “boys” cool and calm. So far though, I have had no use for the knee pad inserts (extra purchase) and find that they make the leg oddly stiff if used, so I don’t, not even when I need to kneel a lot. The double thickness of the knee area has kept me from ever blowing out the knee even though my job often required me to do a lot of kneeling during the coarse of the day.My only complaint is I wish they came pre-hemmed in big boy sizes, i.e. 48. While I have gotten quite good at hemming them myself, I cannot compete with a factory hem job and taking them to local tailor adds another $15 to each pair of pants. Not all big boys are 6’ 8 1/2 inches so us shorter guys don’t need 40 inch unhemmed pants. Plus, I am already paying a premium for the larger size, yet I have to hem them myself??? How does that make sense?
Excellent pants, for every field. The pants blend in and last 3 times as long as denim material. Plenty of pockets, extremely durable design, plenty of pockets and sizing is spot on. Extra 2 inch expansion in waist. I shared this knowledge with a school teacher, a few years ago and he now has several pairs of the Taclite Pro Pants (TDU pants). And he prefers to wear jeans on his off time. The Taclite TDU Pro Pants are excellent for many various applications. You can wear them everywhere.
I ordered these because they have the right number of well-designed pockets that I like, plus the lightweight ripstop fabric. Unfortunately, my inseam is 29", so I ordered the shortest available (30", a sad fact in a whole lot of men's pants). When they arrived, instead of 1" too long, they were 4" too long, despite the garment tag saying the inseam was 30". Also, even with the cuffs rolled up, their bagginess is a major overkill -- in the right wind, you could be involuntarily blown away. So, I took them to a tailor to have the cuffs shortened. While I was there, I decided to have some of the bagginess reduced so they will look like they fit me well, for an intentionally loose tactical pant. The tailor's bill was $55, so my new $55 tactical pants actually cost me ... MoreI ordered these because they have the right number of well-designed pockets that I like, plus the lightweight ripstop fabric. Instead, scroll down (which I failed to do) and look at the bagginess in the video, then decide if you want to visit the tailor, or find some other pants.
Ordered this style (Taclite Pro) for my husband due the 511 Tactical is no longer available for purchase. Sadly, the fit is off. The legs and seat are are way too bulky. I'd imagine ordering it in a smaller size would not address the extra fabric used when cutting the pant. It looks and feels like he could wear 2 pants on the inside and still have extra room.If your legs and glutes are muscular or larger than regular, this might be the pants for you. We're disappointed that it's not a good substitute for the Tactical Pro style pant.
Ive been buying and wearing these pants for years and I hate when I have to wear any other pants for any reason, I have become addicted to the cell phone pocket, the small utility pocket on the left side, the utility strap on the right rear, and just the fit and feel of these pants. I have some very old ones that are at least 5 years old (probably closer to 8-10 some are cotton not ripstop! ) and aside from the small rips and tears that come from extremely hard use they are in excellent condition, no problems with stitching, no problems with buttons or zippers. For the quality, utility, durability, and price I don't think you could do better in terms of value. I wear them working on cars, doing yardwork, gardening, any any other activity I can get away with. When they are clean and new you can press them into "dress" service too!All in all I cant speak more highly about these pants, any time they are on sale I buy a couple to augment my collection. Get as many as you can, but be warned you wont want to wear anything else.
