5.11 Tactical Tactec Plate Carrier Black
The TacTec plate carrier has been designed to offer the best penetration protection with increased comfort and unrestricted freedom of movement. Compared to other similar products, this plate carrier from 5.11 is extremely light and comfortable, so that it is hardly noticeable during use. This is not only thanks to the patented manufacturing material, 500D nylon, but also to the unique and innovative design. When carrying, the padded shoulder straps ensure that there is no chafing at the contact points. For additional comfort, both the back and the chest area are equipped with air channels for ventilation. The back yoke of the TecTac is designed to evenly distribute the load of the plate carrier. Support when carrying is also ensured by the adjustable hip straps. The 5.11 TacTec is designed for two medium to large ballistic plates and can be pulled out in a flash with just one movement (Quick-Release Cable/Escape quick-release system).

This plate carrier is definitely worth the money! I’ve been able to workout, run, and walk while wearing the plate carrier with ease. The only drawback is that I wish the instructions for setup were easily accessible. I had to go onto YouTube and watch the 5.11 video on how to set up the plate carrier the first time. It would’ve been great to receive this in the order confirmation email instead of having to search for it on YouTube. The videos I watched:https://youtu.be/l6Hx4lKtRs4?si=c_465iM2EfzwBgNIhttps://youtu.be/XU8T0wly2sk?si=ZmfUlsro5rtvuWXQRegardless of the instructions, this is a great product that I will train with for years to come.

I really love this plate carrier, it’s comfortable, minimal but with plenty of molle/Velcro. The plate carrier has a great design, and great shoulder straps. I am 6 foot, 220lbs and this vest fits perfect with no adjustments needed. It is also running large sappy plates and they fit perfect. I do enjoy the fact that it can be stripped apart very quickly if needed. I have been using 5.11 clothing and equipment for some time, and the quality is always there. I only wish there were more cumber bon options available to use with this plate carrier, I also wish there were a way to where it could be ran with a placard. Other than those two things, it’s a great affordable plate carrier and honestly a really great bargain for what you get. Especially if it goes on sale.

I'm using my 511 as a Tactical Vest with 11x14 inch Botach swimmers cut level 3A soft Armour. I'm 6'-2", 220 lbs. I also have a Knock-Off version that I purchased due to lack of funds at that time (Sorry 511).Compared to the Knock-Off's, 511 has more substantial padding and 3D mesh in the areas that contact your body which should hold up longer and improve long term comfort. If you are using this Carrier for routine work-outs I would think the higher quality padding & mesh would be worth having. The cummerbund elastic appears to be a bit more substantial and may last longer. The laser cut Mollie on front & back upper panels is properly spaced (not the case on the copy). 511 has the deployable drag handle on the back, the copy has no drag handle. Quick release cable on the 511 is more substantial and the internal wire is not sticking out the end causing a snag hazard as on the other.Given my size I like that I can run 11x14 soft armor in this carrier. The 511 also has 8 vertical rows of Mollie across the front and back (most carriers only have 6). This provides 33% more area across the front to attach items. The 511 style shoulder straps do appear to distribute weight better compared to most generic plate carriers. When loaded up the carrier has less of a tendency to ride down in the front.Of the plate carriers I've used, the 511 is my favorite. I can carry what I need while maintaining good mobility. If your plan is to load up the cummerbund with gear this might not be the best choice. The 511 is definitely worth the price.

I've owned the simple, Dave Castro designed, Rogue Plate Carrier for several years. My 23 year old son started using it, so I thought I'd buy him one for his birthday. Instead of the simple carrier, I opted for the 5.11 TacTec carrier. Boy did I make a mistake. It's size adjustments are overly complicated and its a Velcro nightmare. I should have watched the YouTube reviews. We ultimately got it put together, but its feel is not as compact or solid as my plain one. I told him we could swap and I'll just suck up the over priced, loosely stitched together piece of Velcro.
So far the location of the location the quick release Velcro attachment doesn't make sense. I strongly recommend putting it on the outside of the vest, not inside the collar. I moved the velcro to the outside but the velcro is then upside down and the cord prys the Velcro up. I havent tried switching the cords yet. I would also imagine that you dont need the quick release cord so accessible. I recommend putting a velcro flap over the top of it.The Velcro that hold the front and back flap is unnecessary and only serves as another point for friction.I was not really a fan of the plate straps that run across the plate, specifically how they need to link up with the vertical traps. I needed to replace my previous carrier for work. I walked in and got the carrier and side plate bags and went home to set it up for the next day's shift. I'd give it a five star rating, but it is not the easiest design to fit to yourself, and the side plates ride too high on my body and stuff up into my armpits (tall guy problems) but otherwise the carrier is fantastic. I carry a lot of kit on the front plate and I don't feel the weight. The carrier doesn't move when loaded down with kit. Comms, cuffs, baton, OC, etc., it doesn't move around. I came in not expecting a whole lot and was pleasantly surprised enough to ditch the old carrier entirely and fully move towards 5.11's products. I came in not expecting a whole lot and was pleasantly surprised enough to ditch the old carrier entirely and fully move towards 5.11's products. If you are considering wearing this for duty use, my only warning would be to my fellow tall guys out there. You will not be able to run side plates easily or at all. If that is a risk you are willing to take, this carrier is fantastic and will serve you well. Once broken in there are no hotspots or weird rub points. It takes a week or two to really get it to fit your form but when it does you might forget you're wearing it like I have. The cummerbund is MOLLE and will work with any standard MOLLE system. I came from what would be considered a super high end brand and was expecting something that would get me through a day or two until I could replace my old kit, but I have no need to. They really nailed it with this. If you're a giant like I am you have to roll the dice on certain aspects of armor anyway just by nature of plate sizing, so not having side plates on a carrier is less of an issue to me than having undersized front and back plates. Again, tall guy problems. If that isn't you and you're thinking about picking one up, just do it. If you're authorized to wear a carrier this thing is great, and it's not so expensive that replacing it will put you in a bad spot if you ever needed to.
This is the 3rd weighted vest I've owned. I initially had 20-pound BCG vest that was comfortable but was a little too big (almost like an oversized shirt). Then I picked up a 50-pound RUNMax vest from Amazon. That one came with shoulder pads but was uncomfortable on the traps with anything more than 40-pounds. Finally, I found this little gem (picked the Ranger green 40-pound plate model) and I couldn't be happier. I think it's the design that works so well as this vest uses plates like body armor versus little sandbags. I believe because the weight is pressed closer to the body, it puts less stress on the traps. Love the color and how cool I stay during my workouts.
I've been using the 5.11 TacTec plate carrier (and accompanying set of Rogue plates) for just over a month or so now and I'm really impressed!!Firstly, as you might expect, the vest itself is amazingly well built. The plate carrier feels really sturdy whilst still managing to be comfortable for longer sessions and I have no doubt that it'll last a lifetime. The shoulder pads and chest/back cushions are perfectly placed to take the impact and reduce the strain while wearing the kit - even with a heavy plate set.Speaking of which, the Rogue plates are also a perfect fit! They're easy to install and held securely in place by the plate carrier. I've not needed to readjust or tighten the velcro fastenings as yet despite putting some reasonable mileage in. They're easy to install and held securely in place by the plate carrier. I've not needed to readjust or tighten the velcro fastenings as yet despite putting some reasonable mileage in. They’re the ideal size to make the most of the space afforded by the plate carrier whilst still being compact, so you don’t feel like you’re carrying your whole gym with you.I've been using the vest for pretty much all my training since I got it. The vest itself doesn't compromise mobility at all, which seems kind of impossible, but it’s ideal for HIIT workouts. Even though the plate carrier doesn’t make a difference to how freely you move you can really see how effectively it increases the resistance to your workout. You definitely feel yourself working harder and getting more from your training sessions. (which is the goal, right?!)When running the plate carrier feels perfectly stable - hardly moving at all - and I can't say I've felt any increased strain on my joints. That being said, during HIIT sessions, I notice that the vest moves a little but it's hardly noticeable (to the point I thought about not mentioning it at all in this review) and certainly not enough to be distracting. The adjustable fastenings allow the vest to move with you but not bounce around so much the plate carrier becomes uncomfortable. In summary, this plate carrier is a fantastic bit of kit. Big/tough enough to feel dependable and sturdy even with heavy plates but slight enough so it doesn’t compromise mobility and you can still work out effectively. This plate carrier definitely goes on my “must buy” list. It’s quickly becoming an essential part of my training arsenal and is without a doubt the most effective bit of training equipment I’ve ever used.
I purchased this PC as I really liked how it fit and how comfortable it was. With L3+ plates, the weight is distributed pretty well. I don't like the small "minimalist" PCs, this one fits me well. 6'2, 185lb.Overall I'm a fan of 5.11. I've got a lot of their stuff for being a "civie"... but I'll say this about the tactec PC:There are more and more things I'm finding that I actually don't like as I deck it out with gear. There's really no QD system. The cumberbund system isn't bad, but because it's double sided female velcro in the front and the the way it's made in the back for the cable detachment- the choices are slim to none. While still having plenty of options for molle pouches, the market is leaning to this new system of "placards". While still having plenty of options for molle pouches, the market is leaning to this new system of "placards". Not knowing a whole lot about them, I purchased a couple. They do not attach well to this carrier and is not recommended. It'll work, but I wouldn't trust it with my life. It would be nice for 5.11 to stop trying to create their own products and just make something that plays well with other systems for their customers.... none the less, my fault and I'll make it work. I want to like this carrier so much but they've made it to the point that you need to stick with THEIR gear, and I can't stand their pouches...In closing I'll say it's not a terrible carrier. I love the way it fits, it fits Me well. It's comfortable. But the options for furniture/gear is limiting unless you buy molle/5.11 gear. I got this on a great black Friday deal, somewhere around 50-60% off, I can't recall. At that price, I'll make it work. But at full price, there are WAY better systems....
TacTec plate carrier is one of my favorites to wear. I have now purchased 2 and dedicated one for a workout vest since the tone color “sand stone” wasn’t as available with other companies as I hoped for. The “kangaroo” color tone in the aftermarket though is everywhere and although some changes have been made to vest compare to the old one, the overall fit and quality is still there. I like how its not as wide now at the top & has been tapered up for better shoulder movements and much easier now for shouldering a rifle. I also noticed that the front cummerbund tabs have been shortened compared to the old one and there was Some Velcro on the new one that has been removed from the rear, however I don’t believe this will be a bad thing since the flap on the back is ... MoreTacTec plate carrier is one of my favorites to wear. The carrier is ultimately very comfortable to wear and I like that I can often spot the unique design in many popular video games & movies 🎥 🍿. Glad that they kept the unique drag/carry strap on the back too. Definitely would recommend to a friend and am satisfied with my purchase.
