I got this reel for the summer this year. I was very excited although I had never heard of it. I have been using it for about three weeks now. It has some of the smoothest casting abilities I have used. And I have used it with braid. All in all it is a great caster for beginner and experienced anglers.

I have been using Abu Garcia reels for about 16 years now as well as others and always go back to my AGs. I have seen some mixed reviews with these, but have never encountered these issues. One time had bearings grind out on me, but blame myself for not maintaining it properly at the time. Smooth reel with long consistent casting, minimal backlash and a profile that fits my smaller hands comfortably.

Bought this reel a few weeks ago for catfish and stripers. Took it out and spend 3 hours casting pretty much uninterrupted with whopper ploppers and heavy slab spoons. In that time I had one minor backlash that was my fault, not the reel's. I casted this baitcaster more in those 3 hours than my entire life previous. This reel is smooth, worry-free, and casts heavy baits a mile. It gets my highest recommendation and I've told all my friends to add one to their list.

I always struggled to use a baitcasting reel until several years ago when I was gifted a Abu SilverMax and then I was able to use a baitcaster with little issues. When I decided I needed a new fishing rod and reel (you can never have too many) I looked at several different brands but stuck with what works and bought another Abu. I partnered this reel up with a 7'1" Lews Mach casting rod and I could not be happier.
For the one day I fished with the Revo X Combo (medium-heavy), the performance lived up to the reputation. This is where the good story ends... The side plate fell off into the water (which is a common problem with Revo X Reels). I loved the rod feel and performance and I added a Max Pro reel to the Revo X Rod...which proceeded to break on the second eyelet. After two additional days of fishing Pelican Lake (MN), the rod broke again on the third eyelet. Not a great experience and the customer service group is sending me a side plate replacement, but would not replace the rod. I went on to offer to purchase a replacement, which they just sent me to the website to purchase another rod. This is a great reel for the price. This is my second Revo X purchase. This is a great beginner reel for a young person just getting into fishing especially with a sale price of less than $70.00. I fished with my first Revo X reel for several years now with no issues.
I have used Quantum PT reels exclusively for the last 25 years, but I saw this reel on sell and though I would give it a try. I liked the looks but to be honest it wasn’t as smooth or cast as good as the Quantum’s I own. But after I hot sauced the bearings and gears I like it a lot better. I would be willing to buy more with the plan to use hot sauce oil and grease.
Revo4 X-W baitcast reel is affordable, high quality reel that is rugged, casts well, and is really smooth to retrieve. Love those big, well designed rubber grips on the big handles! And it is offered in 5.4 to 1 gear ratio, which is harder and harder to find these days, and that is gear ratio I use. Also reel is lightweight and is designed really well!
It’s hard to be the Revo series reels. This entry level Revo performs exactly the way Revo’s are expected to. Long casting, quick reeling, and smooth drag makes this real incredible. All of these features, and the performance should cost more than it does.

Tried to contact the manufacturer 3 times with zero response. Found a replacement side plate online and purchased it. With shipping I paid half what I paid for the brand new reel. Reel worked fine for several months. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago. Was on a trip out of town casting to breaking fish. I made a cast and in a split second the side plate came off again..... of course ending up in the lake again.... this time since I was in the process of casting I started thumbing the reel and the spool had started to come out the side of the frame.
