Abus 20/70 Diskus Plus Padlock

I don't normally write reviews since generally if something does what it should then so what. However the Diskus padlocks I got have that extra something which makes a review worthwhile. They sit well in the hand, just the right size with a solid feel. There is also something satisfying about how the key operates the mechanism as the shackle is unlocked and locked. It operates smoothly and positively without any catching of the key in the lock. I did have my doubts about having to lock the padlock to get the key out since I haven't used padlocks like that before. But in fact it works well as after I have unlocked my padbolts I can leave the lock in place on the bolt ring ready to lock up later. I bought this for my new shed and have not regretted it at all. Excellent value and easy to use in spite of my arthritis. Couldn?t have picked a better product. The locking mechanism requires only a key turn and is protected by a plastic buffer which keeps the rain out.I didn?t expect that but it is already helping during the recent torrential rain. The bar is long enough to go on my hasp and still be secure so that there is no room to cut it away. All together a brilliant lock and one l would recommend to anyone.

Bought three key alike padlocks last year and a further two padlocks this year, all key alike and all still working great, the best part Is only one key needed for all five padlocks.. Brilliant idea.

Very well made padlock, feels very solid. Have had it outside securing the shed for some time now and it's still as smooth opening as when it came out the box. Highly recommended as I think it will last a long time, certainly a lot longer than some of the cheaper padlocks that you can get.

Abus Diskus locks are some of the best out there. Even the economy ones, like the ones I purchased here are better than more expensive ones from other manufacturers. Two locks keyed the same with four keys for a very good price add to their value. These locks, even though they are a little used (not abused) are solid, all I did was oil them up a little bit and they work flawlessly.

Hard to operate; lubrication no help. Will probably fail to operate after a couple of years outdoor.

Difficult to operate the key, even after every interior opening was sprayed with WD-40. The lock works well enough, but I will replace it with a more rugged lock. I believe the Abus 20/70 will seize after a couple of years outdoors, The mechanism feels poorly constructed because the key is hard to turn.The disc lock it replaced had a five pin core. For over twenty five years outdoors it operated easily; though of course I kept it well lubricated. I was never concerned about the key not turning.

I would use Zoro again. And I would buy fromabus products ag

I needed a high security padlock this fit my application perfectly. The only issue I have was FedEx. They lost my package somewhere in Michigan. I called them after a few days and they said we have no idea where it's at. I then called Zoro to find out what I needed to do, he took my order number and it was there the very next day at my house. Impressive. I'm glad they take care of their customers. Excellent customer service. And I could understand every word that he spoke because he was American.

Your item pictured is not the item that is shipped. The pictured item clearly shows the shackle as being "HARDENED" quite different then just Stainless. If I didn't need the lock now I would return it.

When you need to most secure lock available

This is the most pick-resistant lock you can buy for less than $50. It may even be the most pick-resistant lock you can buy for less than $100. The cut resistance is also excellent, but I don't know for a fact if it's the very best available (it might be!).I bought this lock because I have a family member who I know for a fact can pick locks and this has thwarted them quite successfully. Of course, The Lockpicking Lawyer (see YouTube) has designed a pick capable of opening this type of lock (disk detainer) but that requires buying a special tool and then learning an entirely different kind of picking technique to open it.
