Pros: Very strong, very compact. Cool form factor. Can double as a weapon in a pinch.Cons: Can be awkward to use. Because it only turns in two dimensions (as opposed to a cable or chain) it’s much more limited in where it can be attached. I frequently have to struggle or move my bike in close enough to get it to connect. For me, it’s worth the cons. Every time I pull it out, I love the form factor. It’s a cinch to stash away, and the holder design is very cool, too.

This works very nicely on my 2022 Specialized Vado. Although it feels like a solid little brick (and solid it is!), the links’ outer coating is quite forgiving on painted surfaces and it’s case attaches very easily to the standard bottle cage bolt pattern on most bikes. Also, if you choose to store the lock in your rear bike bag, keep the bottom part of the packaging, where the fitted mould holds the lock, and it fits securely at the bottom of a 8 - 10L bag - I did that! It took me a while to decide on a decent lock, but this one seems to check all the right boxes. Very happy!

Boy oh boy is this a secure lock! Listen, I AM glad I shelled out the (very large amount of) money for this lock because it really makes me feel safe leaving my bike unattended. It is heavy and bulky, and I really didn't want to lose any step-through real estate, so I decided to mount it to my back rack and just strap stuff on top of it if necessary. This has been fine so far! The mounting was also super easy, even in this weird new place I decided on. Its security is obviously the most important thing, and it has that in spades, but it is REALLY hard to use. Super heavy and unwieldy when trying to get it around the rack, and so hard to lock unless you're in the very most precise position. And if there isn't a rack handy and you have to use something thicker, like a ... MoreBoy oh boy is this a secure lock! I will say it does get easier to manage the more I use it, but the learning curve is steep. Or maybe it's me. ;)

I really don't like this bike lock! The main problem is that the mounting straps for the lock came with a tear in the rubber. I have reached out to rad power bike multiple time and they have been zero help for the first two months with my issue. Rad power bikes got back to me after two months of emailing them and they were zero help. Rad power bikes suggested I reach out to ABUS with my issue. Needless to say this will be the last time I spend money with rad power bikes! I feel from past experience there are many other ebike manufactures that have better customer support and also back the products they sale!
It's very tough and secure, but annoying to handle. The range of articulation is mostly good, but the fact that it only has 6 segments makes it difficult to wrap around oddly-shaped locking posts. The actual lock mechanism is fixed to one of those segments, further limiting what angles the open end can connect to the lock at.Some users might not have a problem with this, but I personally dislike how I have to unlock this lock before unfolding it. The Abus Bordo 5700K (which I use on my other bike) can be unfolded and then locked without using the key, which is only required for unlocking. Although the 5700 is more lightly built (and some might say, less secure), it is vastly more user-friendly than the Granit X-Plus 6500If you don't care about convenience and just ... MoreIt's very tough and secure, but annoying to handle. But if you want a good balance of security and ease-of-use, the 5700K (especially the Big version) is a much better option.
Feel the lock is made heavy. Sure not easy cut thru. Great quality. I find it a difficult to strap around more than wheel or frame to pole. Can not go thru frame, wheel and to pole just not long enough. We have 2 locks. Put both together to make longer. Love the fold up and storage. Also use it around wheels on bike rack. It is stiff when trying to hook together. Overall great idea but takes a bit to get use to and patience getting it just right to lock together.
It is a very sturdy lock. My wife and I both purchased one for our Rad Expand bikes. They are a bit hard to use if you do not have a perfect place to lock them. Locking the two bikes together was also a challenge. The worst thing was the mount for the bike. Mine came open by itself while riding over a very rough road. I did not notice the lock fell out of the holder. Unfortunately, once we did discover it was gone and turned around to look for it, we could not find it.If you purchase this lock, be sure to check it and make sure you are not losing it. It is a bit expensive to just lose on the road.
Lock takes a bit to get used to. The key positioning has to be exact in order to open the locking mechanism in the exact correct position for the piece to fit into. I think mine is a little loose. This lock takes me longer to fiddle with to use it, both locking and unlocking. EXCELLENT, heavy , almost indestructible and scary looking heavy duty lock. People instantly recognize the seriousness of the lock. My preference would be to purchase the next size up that has at least one more link. The longer one is too pricey for me..
This is a great log from useability standpoint. The mount for the bike is great and can go in interesting locations. I have mine on the head tube on the side so it doesn’t interfere with my water bottle on the down tube of my rad wagon. Way to change. The shape is fantastic for locking up a big bulky bike. The longer one would be a little more versatile, but is horrifyingly expensive. The shorter one is already expensive. I couldn’t justify the extra 30 or 40 bucks. Even with the short one I can get around most things Without a problem. Hopefully it lives up to its security rating.
Oh man this purchase was a Huge loss, those who have bought this will most likely agree to some extent with this review.Even the longer option is too small! Mine came without the rubber bands, it’s super heavy and it can be difficult to connect the locking mechanism. It takes some effort to put this through the wheel and sketchy because it stresses the spokes. There wasn’t a compatibility suggestion when I purchased this alongside my bike. I’d say this lock is not for Fat Tires. If Rad offered to take it back or refund, I’d take it and get a Fahgetaboutit lock in its place.Otherwise enjoying my Rad Mini 4! Just under 400km and haven’t had a problem. Thanks
