Charging Port Defect

I purchased this laptop as I needed a Windows Laptop for work as my primary laptop was a MacBook. This was my first experience with an Acer laptop and I do not plan on purchasing another laptop with this brand. I was fortunate to purchase it during a sale and I wouldn't pay a higher price for it. It has an annoying clicking sound when you have your laptop sitting at an angle on your lap. After reviewing other customer reviews, this appears to be a common issue. If you're looking a budget friendly laptop with a larger screen, this is a good starter option. However, the clicking noise will drive you nuts for long term use.

This Acer Aspire 3 with 15.6 inch full HD display and Windows 11 Home in S Mode is a great laptop for anyone and an excellent value! My first impression is that it looks modern, sleek and features a slim design that makes this laptop lightweight and easy to carry. I really like the added texture on the bottom surface which makes it easy to carry and helps prevent it from accidentally slipping and falling out of your hand. It comes packaged well and straight out of the box it’s super easy and quick to set up. The screen is large and bright, the 1080p resolution of this laptop makes it look perfect and is great for watching videos or streaming your favorite shows and movies! The keyboard and touchpad feel smooth and make this laptop enjoyable to work and browse with, typing is effortless, quiet and feels comfortable. The keyboard’s letters are printed white on black, which makes them easy to read, but I definitely would appreciate a backlit keyboard to make it easier to use even in dimmer environments. The laptop boots up quickly and the performance while browsing the web or general use of apps is very good, there is no freezing due to slow speed, making it a great tool for students to study and do homework with, as well as the perfect companion for anyone who is looking for a reliable computer for everyday web browsing, managing emails, using it for online shopping, leisurely scrolling through social media, and, of course, streaming videos and movies. While watching videos I really liked the stereo sound instead of sound coming just from one speaker like on the older laptop I used before. My only complaint is that the max volume is quite low and may not be sufficient for watching while in noisy environments, such as other people talking or someone watching TV in the same room. Fortunately the laptop has Bluetooth as well as a audio port to connect headphones. There are also several USB ports available to connect your accessories, such as a printer, camera, or maybe a wireless mouse or keyboard, and to conveniently charge your mobile devices. An added Ethernet port allows you to choose a wired internet connection in case WiFi is not available or tends to be too slow, as well as a HDMI port so you can easily connect the laptop to your big screen TV if desired! For safety and peace of mind there is also a Kensington lock port that lets you tether your laptop to prevent theft in public places. If you plan on storing your work, such as a lot of documents, or if you tend to save a lot of photos and videos, I would definitely recommend to get an additional external hard drive for additional storage space as this laptop only has 4GB that can quickly fill. Overall, I am very satisfied and impressed by this high quality laptop, it offers everything I was looking for and looks nice, it’s well built, durable, slim and light enough to be portable, and offers great battery life and screen quality for everyday browsing, streaming and gameplay. I highly recommend this product!

Extremely Poor Quality Casing
14 May 2024

I'm a long time Acer product user because of the ease of functionality, and product quality at an accessible price. I'm also an avid conservationist, so it was with so much excitement that I purchased Acer's Green laptop as a replacement for my 3 year old Aspire. When I received the laptop the first thing that I noticed was the difference in the material of the body versus other laptops that I've purchased over the years. It felt like potentially fragile material so I knew that extra care was needed. After only 11 months of ownership and very careful handling and daily use I noticed a small crack at that the top left corner of the LCD bezel. I thought it almost shocking because I've never experienced that with any laptop that I've owned since laptops hit the market. ... MoreI'm a long time Acer product user because of the ease of functionality, and product quality at an accessible price. After only 11 months of ownership and very careful handling and daily use I noticed a small crack at that the top left corner of the LCD bezel. I thought it almost shocking because I've never experienced that with any laptop that I've owned since laptops hit the market. That tiny crack quickly resulted in a second corner fracture. My one year warranty has now expired and my laptop is totally inoperable. I now have to replace a system that I paid more than I normally would to support Acer's environmental initiative. I'm now without a laptop and no support from Acer regarding a poor quality product.Acer should consider the fact that recycled materialproducts should come with additional warranties. Because my manufacturers warranty has expired, I'm not even able to speak to an Acer representative to discuss any replacement options. The only option presented is to take it somewhere for an over $400 repair.I've also noticed that this system is currently on sale for $499, which leads me to believe that Acer is fully aware of the poor quality of the body of this laptop. Current out of warranty customers should be made whole.

I leaned really hard on the reviews online when I was shopping for laptops, so I promised myself to leave a review here. My initial search for a new laptop began six months before I purchased this, so I was able to take the time to educate myself on these specs. This model has everything I wanted: 512GB memory, the 12GB RAM is nice, and the Intel Core i5 is good too. I love the 15" screen, Windows 11 preinstalled. It's very lightweight. It's the perfect mid-level laptop: just as far from a Chromebook as it is from a gaming laptop.Negatives: the start-up is surprisingly slow. And the cover, as well as the inside where you rest the butt of your hands, has a cheap plastic feel to it. I don't like smudgy oily fingerprints on things, but it's unavoidable here. It's gross to look at, but you get used to it.Also, when I purchased this back in November 2022 it was on sale from $899 to $599, and now in mid-January 2023 it's not on sale yet it's still $599. So there's that.Ultimately the pros far outweigh the cons, so I happily recommend this laptop.

Its decent, but not very sturdy
25 September 2024

Honestly not too bad of a laptop. Easy to use and setup, only takes a bit of time to get used to the newer version of Windows but thats no problem. The design is sleek and the laptop is light.I however after my first trip to school back and forth immediately had a bunch of scratches and damaging on the front of my laptop, the other side of the screen. I understand that a laptop cover would be recommended, but I unfortunately did not have the time to get one just yet. I did not have anything possibly damaging inside my backpack and was very careful when handling and placing my bag. The outer casing is very fragile and for a laptop this price and new you'd think they'd be sturdier. No clue how it was able to get damaged so easily.

Questionable Material Quality

I purchased the Aspire Vero in April 2023 (10 months ago). About 2 months after purchase the bottom right corner of the monitor trim cracked in half. I am always very careful with my laptops (padded cases, open and close slowly and properly, etc.). Recently the same thing happened to the bottom left on the side and across the bottom and the trim is trying to pull away from the monitor. I have several laptops and this one is by far opened and closed the least so it is definitely not from overuse or force and I've never had this happen with any other laptop. My husband purchased a HP the same day I got this one and his is still absolutely perfect - so I guess I'll be switching to a HP.

There is no light to tell you when the laptop is turned on so you just sit there waiting to see if it turns on or not. Colors are washed out. I can't get brighter colors no matter what I do. I would not recommend this laptop to anyone. I feel like I wasted my money. This laptop just proves you Don't always get what you paid for....
