Acer Swift Edge 16-inch AMD R7-8840U/16GB/1TB SSD Laptop - Black

My HP Spectre, seven years old, died and I replaced it with this one, twice the storage, twice the memory, faster processor, half the price. It's slim and light, lovely screen (same as my Spectre's, in fact). I saw reviews saying that the keyboard is flexible and with little feedback - wrong on both counts. It's absolutely fine. There is adequate connectivity (ports). Very well built.Overall, a lot of positive and no negative that springs to mind, and I've had a lot of laptops over the years.Recommended.

This is a nice laptop - good screen, very light and portable. However there is one issue that you should be aware of. I have had two of these in recent weeks. With the first one, after using only once or twice, both usbc ports, one after the other stoped charging. I spoke with tech support - they were unable to help with this particular problem and arranged for it to be replaced. Unfortunately, without mains power, I was unable to reset before sending back, which I wasn't too happy about. I received the replacement and it did exactly the same thing! I spoke to tech support again who offered a refund or replacement. However, I decided to take it to tech support in-store. I considered still changing it, but preferred this laptop to others in store so decided to keep it (at least for the present). Two days later - same thing! After an exhaustive search online, before returning ithis second laptop, I saw a post that resolved it. There is a tiny hole on the underside of the laptop that is used to reset the battery - you need to use one of these small sim removal tools. That did the trick and I have only had to do it once since then. However, you would be stuck without one of these tools.There was no information whatsoever with the product and I think there must have been many returns like mine for this reason. Who would think to look for a tiny hole to reset the battery, or the need to? Certainly not me, nor tech support.Other cons - 'tinny' feel to touchpad and keys a little 'bouncy'. Very minor issues however and I still like the screen and portability compared to competitors. However, if this issue with the battery reset becomes more of an issue, I will seek to return it.

Great laptop overall but the mouse pad was loose. Not enough of an issue for me to return.
