I've been mixing this balancing gel with the hydrating moisturiser and it's been great. The texture of this gel is extremely thick and it's almost like glue. I normally scoop some out and put it on my palm, then scoop out some moisturiser and put it on the same palm, mix them together and then pat it on my face. I've only been using this for 2 weeks, and I'm hoping that this will help brighten my overall complexion with the vitamin C inside the product.

I was advised to buy this (from my OB) as I had just had a baby & this helped with pigmentation. Aesop don’t recommend to use this for the purpose of that but it helped with it, & all pigmentation is gone. I use it for my face & it brightens my skin the very next day. My skin literally drinks this up!!! Worth every penny & after trying all the skincare out there I’m one that believes in the least expensive, most natural types of skincare & most gentle - but this albeit pricey is great! Even if only a few times a week. Quite potent, but even with my fairly sensitive skin, it was fine.

I chose a sample with my last purchase as I am a fan of Aesop but I was disappointed. Firstly it is a an expensive product, there are many better options on the market in this price range. I warmed the gel in my hands before applying but it felt sticky and needed a good facial massage before it was completely absorbed, however my skin did feel hydrated in the morning. I’m reading the reviews and I’m finding it funny that some people are using this as a cleanser?! It is definitely not a cleanser! It has potent doses of vitamin C that helps brighten, balance and replenish the skin. This product is for those with combination skin and dehydrated skin. It’s a humectant that helps lock moisture into your face. To use this, you warm it up in your hands by rubbing it to activate the gel and then either pat it or massage it in. If you want better slip feel free to blend it with a face oil. Leave it for a minute and follow with a moisturiser or serum. It’s an amazing product!

The positives are that it didn't really have a scent and it didn't irritate my skin. So that's good. Unfortunately, though, upon application it was really thick and extremely sticky. It didn't feel very pleasant on my skin and left a very sticky thick film. After the stickiness dried, I still felt like there was a thick film over my skin rather than the product being absorbed. This layer then, mixed with, and lead to, my moisturiser turning into thick gunk when I applied it over the top or this gel. Thankfully this was a sample, sadly I will not be purchasing the full size.
Lovely smell nice texture and isn’t and drying. Left skin feeling soothed however just can’t justify the price for how it feels on the skin, I love Aesop usually. However I reckon you could get a lot more bang for your buck with other cleansers. That being said I loved the herbal aroma. Enjoyed using it but my absolute die hard will always be Kate Somerville goat milk cleanser! bit cheaper and you only need a tiny bit!
I got two samples of these in recent orders. First, the sample pack is SO small you barely get one use out of it. This is really stick, I mean thick sticky. Imagine trying to warm and spread honey over your face. Not pleasant. There us no way this can be "massaged" in because it's just too thick to spread. My face looked marginally brighter on application but that was likely my 111 Skin serum that I used under this. Never experienced anything quite so terrible in texture. The next morning my skin was drier than usual so counter-productive. Looks like I will be sticking to their hand washes for now.
I love Aesop products and scents, so was excited about trying this as a sample with another purchase. But I found the texture of the gel really heavy and tacky; the instructions were to massage into skin, but it felt really hard to do. I felt like I had a strange sticky layer to my face, almost more like a strange mask, rather than a hydrating feeling. I didn’t notice any benefit in the morning, so I won’t be buying this product
Initially I was very underwhelmed by this product. The first thing I noticed was the smell which is lovely as are all the products in this brand. However as soon as U felt it I was disappointed…it is thick and sticky and when applied was almost glue like! I really did not like it being in my skin. But I have to say that in the morning my skin did look and feel hydrated and glowing. At the price tag and given its consistency I would not use it again.
