I previously had the Air headphones, and they were pretty good. I recently got these, but I have noticed an important issue that the Air headphones did not have: When a sound is played through these headphones after a minute or so of prior silence, the first half second or so of audio is cut off. This makes these headphones unacceptable for receiving voice directions while driving, for example (and not playing anything else). There is also a noticeable delay in the audio, which makes these less than ideal for watching video of people talking (bad lip-sync) or for playing video games. This delay seems slightly better than what the Air headphones had, though. These two issues mean that these are not general-purpose headphones. However they are very good at what I ... MoreI previously had the Air headphones, and they were pretty good. The sound quality is great, and I am able to hear both my music and my surroundings.P.S., after answering "how easy are your headphones to use?": There are a few issues I have encountered while using the buttons:-Double-pressing the multi-function button is supposed to skip to the next song. However double-pressing too quickly acts as a single press so I have to intentionally move slowly in order to skip a song.-Holding the buttons for power on/off takes too long in my opinion.-The headphones do not say "pairing" when entering pairing mode. The instructions for entering pairing mode do not address this. In addition to this, the headphones do say "batter [high|medium|low]" immediately after power on; this is a change from how the Air headphones work, which together with the lack of a "pairing" sound, made me think I was not getting to pairing mode.-It would also be nice if pressing the buttons required less force.

I ordered the Aeropex Mini back in April and liked them for the most part. The sound kinda sucks and if you run near a road you won't be able to hear anything except the cars, but I'd rather have that than lose my situational awareness.Unfortunately, in late September the headphones completely died with no warning. I was SO careful with them, dried them off after every run before charging them, and didn't over charge them. They're so expensive I was trying to protect my investment. One morning I took them off the charger, turned them on, heard "welcome to Aftershokz" and then they shut off for good. They wouldn't turn on or light up when I put them on the charger.I emailed Aftershokz to get a replacement since they were under warranty. Aftershokz took a very long time to reply to me but had me mail in the broken headset for a new replacement. After a week where I knew they'd been delivered but had heard nothing from Aftershokz, I reached out to them to figure out what was going on and was told that the Mini is now out of stock. They offered to send me a refurbished pair of the standard size Aeropex in the meantime and I would still receive a Mini replacement once they were back in stock. I accepted and received a pair of the standard, but they're fully broken too and they arrived that way. There are loose parts that rattle around like a baby rattle next to my head, I have no idea how these passed quality control because the noise makes it impossible to hear any music. So now I have nothing, they won't give me a refund, and they have no idea when the mini will be back in stock.I know my case is in the vast minority, but definitely be careful about ordering from them and make sure you read the fine print. If I could get a refund I would. Also the mini is in stock on amazon and at best buy, which is awesome.

Decided to pick up another set on black Friday on the excellent deal. My third set, I love my Aeropex headphones, absolutely love them. I mostly listen to podcasts, so for me the sound quality is perfect. I was forced to find a different kind of headphone after I got a wicked ear infection from my earbuds. I found the Aeropex and I haven't looked back. The battery life is fantastic, I wear these almost all day long. I even wear them to bed to listen to sleep stories to help with my insomnia and I can hear everything without disturbing boyfriend. They are light as a feather and so comfortable, I often forget they are on my head. I think my kids think they are going to just become permanently attached to my skull, I have them on all the time. The start and stop button ... MoreDecided to pick up another set on black Friday on the excellent deal. I've converted several friends to Aftershokz after I let them try my headphones.Just having the ability to hear what is going on around you while listening to music or podcasts is such an asset, especially in my job as a custodian in a very public building. I no longer worry that I won't hear someone in a place they shouldn't be.If I have anything to gripe about, I wish the mini's were in stock and came in more colors, apparently I have a dainty little head. I suppose many people could complain about the proprietary magnetic charger, but after getting three pairs, I have six charging cables, I think I'm pretty vested in this at this point. They really just add to the ease of use, no fumbling with ports and plugs, the charger finds where it's supposed to go on it's own.

I bought these as I'm an avid cyclist and bike commuter and needed something to allow me to listen to music and audiobooks when riding without compromising my ability to hear my surroundings and maintain safety. I was previously using traditional in-era Bluetooth earbuds and would have to ride with only one in and/or invest in a pair that permitted ambient noise to filter through. While it was a workable solution, it was no ideal as I have unusually waxy ears it seems (TMI, I know) and had to spend at least an hour a week cleaning excess wax off the internal grille of the earbud. Failure to do so would result in the maximum volume of the earbud being still far too quiet to hear anything. Further, I have weirdly shaped ear canals and in-ear buds would often fall out ... MoreI bought these as I'm an avid cyclist and bike commuter and needed something to allow me to listen to music and audiobooks when riding without compromising my ability to hear my surroundings and maintain safety. Further, I have weirdly shaped ear canals and in-ear buds would often fall out or not fit right. The number of times an earbud fell out while putting my helmet on and landed in an unknown-substance puddle on the street is too many to count. Additionally, in colder months, I'd often have to try and reposition the earbud mid-ride with a gloved hand, and found my lack of dexterity made it frustrating and often unsuccessful.Did my first ride with these this morning. First off, bone conduction technology in general is cool as heck, and I really enjoyed not having anything in my ears. Being able to have full awareness of everything around me makes me feel more confident on my daily commute on quite busy and dangerous city streets. With that said, having a completely exposed ear also means that I'm subjected to the full decibel-weight of traffic and ambient noise. Even at the highest volume level, I still couldn't understand the words being spoken by the reader of my audiobook because it was drowned out by the din of traffic. Mentioned it to a techie friend who suggested I look into motorcycle ear plugs, as they are designed to allow enough external noise penetration to maintain safety while reducing the overall burden of traffic noise. I will try that. The only other thing that takes some getting used to is at higher volumes, you feel the vibrations on your skin directly in front of the ears, which can become irritating or ticklish to some. It annoys me, so I try to avoid max volume as much as possible. So, in short, I would recommend these for sure, but the two things that led me to giving only 4 stars are that max volume isn't loud enough for me, and the vibrations at high volumes. I recognize that's how bone conduction works, but wish there was a way to reduce the vibrations we FEEL and prioritize the vibrations we HEAR.
My first pair lasted maybe 8 months? Then one day after a night of charge, I went to turn them on and nothing. Bricked. Tried using a different charger, different wall outlet, no dice. Fortunately, electronics at the time were still covered by the MEC rock solid guarantee, so I simply went into the store to get a new pair - life was good.I got that second pair in May, and once again they're broken but only 3 months later this time. Now when I power them on I get weird behavior: "battery high" 6 times in a row, then they spontaneously shut off after a "power off" 5 minutes later. This is just one example of the kind of behavior they exhibit now. My use case is at the gym and on bike rides - not that intensive otherwise. This time though I noticed that they broke ... MoreMy first pair lasted maybe 8 months? My use case is at the gym and on bike rides - not that intensive otherwise. This time though I noticed that they broke the day after I tried to answer a call while on a bike ride. On the other end, they kept saying "I can't hear you, call me later." My guess is once I answered the phone, the mic opened (?) and some sweat got in to the device. Why even have a mic if this was the culprit? At least have some moisture detection before opening the port or something... I've left them on rice for 3 days hoping that'd be sufficient as a desiccant, but they seem too far gone. When this device works, it's great. But the reliablity is miserable. Avoid them if you value your money, or even your time - can't wait to go through the customer support cycle again...
I thought it was kind of gutsy to claim that your product can guarantee happiness but I can truly say that for the first time in my life I purchased a product that brings me happiness on a daily basis. The sound is amazing. The Bluetooth connection is strong and stable with a great distance from my phone. Phone conversations are clear. I can listen to music all day and night while still being able to hear my surroundings. My happiness truly is guaranteed with these natural feeling headphones. Honestly, how much better would you feel listening to music during 2 hour meetings while never missing the details of the meeting? I even shower with them, run with them and It never feels like they are even on my head. Such an amazing product. The only thing I would say is weird is the first week or so of having to get used to hearing two different sources of sound. But your brain quickly adapts and it all becomes normal. Bravo to Aftershokz for a truly brilliant design. Buy a set, you won't be disappointed.
I've been thru so many headphones. My ears hurt after just a short time with any kind of "pods" (we're talking 15 minutes or so) and the Max are so heavy, they are reserved exclusively for flying when I need ANC. I had heard about the bone conduction, and tried some on at the fancy electronics store in the airport, but my head is small, and the band stuck out to far in the back, I knew it wouldn't work well for me, or my hair style. But then I saw these, and that they came in a Mini version, and I clicked BUY immediately. And I LOVE THEM! Not only do I not have anything in my ear, but when I'm wearing them at home so I don't disturb anyone with my true crime stuff, I can still hear what's going on around me without issue. Not only do I not have anything in my ear, but when I'm wearing them at home so I don't disturb anyone with my true crime stuff, I can still hear what's going on around me without issue. Be it the doorbell, or the buzzer on the dryer. I hate feeling like I'm cut off from the world with headphones on. Though there are occasionally times where I want to be (like when the neighbor is doing yet another renovation project and running his chop saw and banging his hammer all day) and then I can just pop the included earplugs in, change the mode, and I can't hear anything else. Its fantastic! I haven't tried flying with them yet, and I don't know that I will (although they will be great while waiting in the club for my next flight and want to be able to hear announcements). I also haven't tried them for exercise, but I've worn them all day during a podcast binge session while cleaning and they were so comfy I almost forgot they were there. I haven't timed the battery, but I've only had them die on me twice, which is great. They recharge fairly quickly and then we're back in business. The only kind of negative thing I can say isn't even related to this particular brand or model, but bone conduction as a whole - if you turn the volume up too much, then you can feel the vibration. You can possibly get used to it after a bit, or maybe its just getting distracted and forgetting about it, but at first its just plain weird. Bottom line, if I lost these tomorrow, I'd rebuy this exact pair again immediately. A+, 5 stars!
I am going to start my review stating that what I use them for, might not be entirely what they were designed for. It shows these being used while exercising, however I use mine connected to my TV which has both my computer as well as my gaming console connected to it.PROS1. light weight - doesn't cause discomfort to my ears (I cannot wear earbuds or on the ear headphones as they cause pain to my ears after about 5 minutes. One size fits all - smaller heads (children) or larger adults (larger heads) will likely have issues with these. Try them at the store first to see if they fit.2. Not able to adjust the back - prevents you from sitting in a recliner as that pushes them forward away from your ears and causes discomfort because the back of mine has a sharp edge from manufacturing.3.Short battery life - they charge faster than some of my over the ear headphones, but they only seem to hold a charge for a couple hours, where some of my over the ear headphones last days.Take away:These headphones are pretty much designed for exercise or those not in a reclining position. I have worn them driving and they work okay as I do not rest my head on the seat. So standing, exercising, sitting in the upright position (perhaps at work) they seem fine. The short battery life causes some grief as they only last around 3 hours or so while gaming. The ability to listen to my content as well as the people around me far out weighs the cons mentioned. I can sit playing a game or watching a show, while my wife sits beside me and I do not bother her and we can still have a conversation or if a child calls for help, I know immediately. I just wish they would come out with a product that was similar to this that you could adjust the back to fit around you skull instead of sit away so you could enjoy them while relaxing and not just on the go.
I've been using Aftershokz Trekz Airs for over two years, and the switch to Aeropex was actually more adjustment than I expected. I'll get the cons out of the way before I cover how the Aeropex are amazing. My primary complaint is that I dislike all of the buttons. The multi-purpose button is small and either too far forward or too high up, not where I instinctively reach to touch it (unless I reach with my right hand, I just noticed). The volume buttons are still too small, and I'm always pressing on the rigid outline of the new charging port when I'm trying to press volume down. I would have preferred the multi-purpose button be swapped to the right side and the charging port alone on the left side, leaving a bit of space to make the volume buttons just a touch ... MoreI've been using Aftershokz Trekz Airs for over two years, and the switch to Aeropex was actually more adjustment than I expected. So maybe my ears are just needy for a bit more volume.Beyond that, I don't think I have any negative feedback. I'm still fascinated by and love the quality of the bone conduction sound. The technology has certainly improved since the Trekz Airs, although I still love my Airs and keep them paired to a different device for dedicated listening at home. The Aeropex have hardly any vibration tickle when compared to the Treks Air headphones. They still have some vibration when you max out the volume, but it seems much improved over the vibration of the Airs.Aeropex are light and comfortable, and I'm always surprised by the "Battery High" status after a day of standby and sporadic listening/phone calls. I'm absolutely blown away when it still says "Battery High" or rarely "Medium" after a second day. Do I every have to charge these things?! On that topic, I love the new charging port, and thank you so much for including the spare charging cable. My only critique of the charging cable is that I wish it connected straight on, rather than at 90 degrees. That's probably not a big deal, just personal feeling about making sure I turn the cord or headphones the right way to charge them.I also love that the Aeropex are water resistant (proof?). (Documentation is unclear whether they'd survive a dunk in the pool, but some advertising seems to imply they would and you just have to dry off before charging. I'm not brave enough to test it.)In the package they also include the standard foam ear plugs and a fancy storage case with magnetic closure. I appreciate the bonus, but never end up using the case because if I'm not wearing them over my ears, they're usually around my neck. I discussed with my wife that it might be better to save money on the case and design some nice, long lasting or washable ear plugs instead.Final thoughts: While I think the design could improve with some adjustments to the buttons, the functionality of Aftershokz bone conduction headphones is nearly flawless.
If I could have only one pair of headphones, it would be these. These things are the perfect headphones for daily use thanks to the weight and that they do not sit in your ears. Many people like to use Airpods or other wireless earbuds as their daily driver headphones, but these perform that role even better. Once you put them on your head, you will forget they are even there: that's how seamless the use of these is. Perfect for taking calls or listening to music on the go! The battery is enough to last you an entire day in my experience so need to bring the charger with you unless you really use them a lot. Most of the time, they just sit on my ears ready to go in case I have to take a call or listen to something on my phone when I am out and about. Most of the time, they just sit on my ears ready to go in case I have to take a call or listen to something on my phone when I am out and about. And they will not fall out. I wear these even when I play tennis because I am too lazy to take them off and I like the idea of being able to listen to music at any moment when I am hitting. So, don't worry about them falling off.I think Aftershokz should continue focusing on the usability and function of the Aeropex. These things are just more than just good headphones for running or exercising. In the future, I would like to see these things have a wireless charging case like Airpods or any other wireless earbuds so we don't have to deal with the proprietary charging cable. Additionally, I would like to see multi-device support so I can use these with my phone and laptop simultaneously without having to disconnect and reconnect every time. And maybe an app for these headphones would be nice if that's possible. In short, these headphones are not only great workout and exercise headphones, but they perform the role of Airpods and wireless earbuds much better. The ultimate daily-driver headphones. And if Aftershokz were to continue to lean into this aspect of their product, maybe also start appealing to Airpods and other wireless earbud users, I think they would be a huge success!
