Airyday Pretty in Zinc Dreamscreen SPF 50+ 75ml

Usually I hate mineral/physical SPFs bc of the overly thick consistency that makes it hard to apply, it feels very heavy or sticky on the face, stings my face, makes my face more greasy, oily or peels off.I have the Clear as Day SPF from Airyday which I really liked as it felt very lightweight, and it’s great for those days where I don’t want any makeup or tint, plus it’s very hydrating and doesn’t make my skin more oily or greasy.Pretty in Zinc is the best mineral SPF I’ve tried so far and actually love it. It’s fragrance free and I love that it’s suitable for acne-prone and sensitive skins as I’m struggling with some acne and redness on my face. It has enough tint to reduce my redness, blotchiness and make my skin tone look more even, yet still looks natural.It’s perfect for my oily skin as it’s not greasy on my face, yet still gives a nice little shine/glow to the skin. And I love the slight blurring effect that it gives to my skin.Much nicer to use than Naked Sundays as it doesn’t sting my face, doesn’t feel heavy or make my skin oily, and the consistency of the SPF makes it a lot easier to apply the product and rub it in.

I wanted to try this mineral SPF in comparison to Mineral Mousse, which I love. I wondered if Pretty in Zinc might benefit my skin now I’m a bit older (49), despite largely retaining some of the oily skin tendencies I have had since my teens.It felt a little too ‘moisturising’ for my comfort level upon application (wondering if this is just because of my years of avoiding anything that will add shine to my skin), but I figured I may as well let it settle and conduct my usual post SPF pat-on application of a little mattifying primer.It felt much more comfortable after about 30 minutes, and not oily to the touch. I may decide to use this around the facial perimeter that tends to be more drier these days, and stick to Mineral Mousse in the t-zone. Multi-SPFing - a bit like multi-masking I gather!For those of us with combination/oily skin and larger pores, would probably stick with Mineral Mousse if you just want the single product and no ‘dewiness’. But a lovely product overall.

I've been purchasing physical sunscreens off the back of dermatologists recommendation to only wear physical sunscreen as a part of my treatment of persistent rosacea - I previously used Dermalogica's physical sunscreen (this leaves an intense white cast) and Naked Sundays physical sunscreen (which is really shiny and thick, was a bit much at times and would transfer and stain some clothes, but Naked Sundays had a bit more staying power as a sunscreen I found, & helped more in terms of cooling effects, I also used that for over a year, but NS is really (really!) thick). For those new to physical sunscreens they stop the face heating up from sun exposure (why derms recommend). This one works great, great makeup base, doesn't interact/make many of my makeup products pill (clump together when mixed) going on top. I often wear this alone with some kosas concealer for lazy work days/to the gym etc and it looks great, provides some coverage and isn't heavy at all. Thirty years young, I'm on the fairer side southern european skin, and use Pretty in Zinc and had/have chronic rosacea and eczema on the face, neck & body throughout my early mid twenties which I've managed to really calm down/get rid of through cultivating a good skincare routine for which physical sunscreen is essential!! especially in Australia!
