Its not until you purchase a good quality set of headphones that you realise just what you have been missing in terms of sound seperation and clarity. I thought that I were using a pair of good quality headphones, prior to buying the AKG K16 Pros. Initially I was looking at a cheaper pair of AKG Headphones but I am pleased that I spent the extra money on these. My old headphones are good for some things, but I am using the AKGs in a sound studio environment where the digital capabiliies from my studio equipment pushes out a wide range of sounds in KHz. I've had an Austrian K701 for years. I love those headphones mainly because of the super-wide soundstage. But it's true that they lack bass. The K612 fixes that. And the soundstage is almost as wide. The treble is lessened just the right amount so that the bass is then fuller. I now listen mostly to these, even though the build quality of the 701 is a bit better.

I have owned many of the finest quality brands headphones (I kind of collect headphones) and to say the least, I always keep coming back and end up using my AKG's. Sound quality, Fit, Weight and Comfortability wise, there is no way you can go wrong (even with the lowest priced models), when you buy an AKG. This model (K612pro) in particular, has very little difference in all aspects with the mid-high priced K712's from this same manufacturer. If you have owned, tried or auditioned any of the competing companies models, irrespective of price, and compare them to AKG's (Or this AKG in particular), you will know the difference. If you still decide to purchase any other brand's model, you will eventually end up with an AKG. Just ask the Pro's !

THis is my first entry into the HiFi world. I use this headphone with a FiiO amp/dac and it sounds amazing. Clear balanced sound. The top band that rests on your head might press down a bit harder than other headphones since it has nog cushion. That said, it's a very light headphone with nice big cups that fit my large ears. Very little clamping, so it's very comfortable
Bought these some time ago and the sound was brilliant they are also very comfortable especially as I have big ears, unfortunately they stopped working in one ear. When wiggling the cable the non working phone crackles, I can only think it is the cable but on these the cable is not replaceable. At the price I paid for them I would expect the cable to be more robust or replaceable. I Replaced them with K240s as you can replace the cables on these but they are nowhere near as comfortable.
Has trusty tonal balance because It reproduces midbass and highs in good proportion to the broad midband. Its lightweight, roomy, easy to wear for long. Has strong enough analysis and imaging. There are some cons like it could have been easier to drive or the bass could have been stronger. Still not a treble oriented sound. Not as refined as some very expensive models but very good in many important areas. Monitor grade headphones are not many and certainly don't come cheap, that is why I think its an excellent pick for its average online pricing. Not an automatic recommendation for all uses and tastes though. Due to being the neutral sounding type its not instant fun with all music genres and it won't go easily loud on most portable devices.

Bought these to replace my old earphones that broke down after years of use.I've been using these new ones for a few months now and I'm really satisfied. The earphones cover the whole ear and are very comfortable. The sound is great too. The part that comes in contact with your skin isn't made of the usual fake leather that peels away after a few months.The downsides are design ones: the connecting cable is hard wired to the left earphone, which may be awkward depending on your workspace setup. And the straight cable design results in it's tendency to coil, forcing you to unplug the cable and un-coil it from time to time.Other than that, those are great.
I bought these headphones about a week ago. Out of the box, they sound decent, but need to be broken in to really open them up. The bottom end is very limited yet, but that should change in time. I listen to all types of music. These headphones excel at classical music and other types of acoustic music. Listening to classic rock, dance and other electronic-heavy music was a tad disappointing, as the bass is absent. The mids and highs are awesome, however. They are very comfortable and don't squeeze your head to death. I wish it had a detachable cord. No real complaints about these headphones. I will write another review after they have been broken in.
I've been writing and recording my music since 1977. When mixing multitracks I've always used standard headphones to try to get the mix just right but could never achieve the sound I was looking for. The AKG K612 PRO Reference Studio Headphones has such a wide frequency response: 12Hz-39.5kHz, this lets me hear all the tracks in a more precise manner. I like to add as much as I can to my recordings without over producing the project. I can now listen to all the tracks at once and find where one instrument is over powering another within the sound spectrum. The final project now sounds much better in my car stereo and computer speakers.
