I love it. dynamic mic doesn’t need phantom power so I can turn up the gain and have it NOT click. No issues with noise rejection and feedback. My voice sounds very present (up close and personal, kiiiiissing the mic). Love the mix, no complaints, cannot see myself upgrading in the near future

Sadly this great kit is let down by an ongoing issue - it includes a microphone clip that simply doesn't fit the stand! The Manufacturer has admitted the problem and believes they had previously fixed it, but the seller claimed to be unaware of this ongoing problem. I had to drive to a branch of the seller to show them the problem. They immediately supplied a new clip which fit, but buying online is pointless if you have to drive to a shop to resolve a problem... All these products should be recalled by the manufacturer or quality checked by sellers before being despatched
The AKG D5 is an excellent choice for a dynamic microphone for RECORDING but I would have to disagree with using it for live purposes. It has one problem I don't like. The plosives...the plosives will really urk you with this microphone. My pop filter fixed this problem though. However, most people don't have pop filters on mics for live purposes (although they really should make mini pop filters that can hook on to stage mics). That is why I say it is more useful as a home studio microphone than a live recording microphone. I used a focusrite 2i2 usb interface with it. As you may know, focusrite is known for good sounding pre-amps so that may have had something to do with the sound I got. Vocals are crystal clear. This microphone is very comparable to the frequency response of a condenser or ribbon microphone. It may not SOUND quite the same as a condenser or ribbon microphone but hey...THAT'S THE POINT. It is perfectly fine for recording. Just offers a DIFFERENT sound. A very good sound if I do say so myself. A sound that some artist may actually PREFER. That is why it is absolutely critical to have a mixture of different types of microphones in your studio, dynamic microphones especially. Also, for very loud artist, the sound pressure levels on these things are amazing and the case is the same with this microphone. If you have a powerful singer or loud artist or somebody that does a genre that involves screaming and hollering...be smart. Get some dynamic microphones. GOOD ones. This microphone may not be all that expensive but the sound of it would fool you. Great budget dynamic mic! You should get one of these. One small thing that is worth mentioning is that this microphone is gain hungry like a lot of dynamic microphones. Do yourself a favor. Get yourself a Triton Fethead or a Cloudlifter to boost the amount of clean gain on this thing when using it with whatever mic pre amp you have (that is including usb interfaces too because those also have built in mic pre amps for those who are unaware).
I have used Shure SM-58's for years, but this AKG D5 gives me better overall sound. It's frequency response seems flatter across the upper range and its super cardioid pattern helps eliminate feedback. It also seems to cut through the mix without having to approach feedback levels. Great mic!
I have owned the Shure SM58 for years. It is the industry standard. HOWEVER, I have a pair of AKG wireless mics, and wanted a corded mic to match. Well this D5 did not disappoint. It is sleek, and has a very different look than the SM58. I feel as if I sound clearer in this mic, vs. the SM58, because the SM58 is a muddy sound, great for rock and roll, but I DJ, and use my voice to MC. So I want to sound clear, especially at weddings. I get all I need out of this mic, and am very happy with it.
Saw hundreds of reviews and was quiet excited to get this one. Tried it once and the sound was poor , with no power and needed to make a huge effort for the voice to be over the tracks. ( changed to my shure sh55 after the break and it was a huge quality difference )Tried to return to the shop or exchange and they refused it. 3rd time I purchase in this shop in a month and all of the purchases came with something wrong ( item or delivery (weeks late when I paid for next day delivery )So after this bad experience . This Mic Rocks, bringing out nuances in the vocals you would only expect to get in the studio and it does it on a noisy stage. Gain before feedback is very good if the EQ is correct and if it is not your sound will suffer, this thing has a narrow sweet spot, try to fatten it up it turns to mud quickly, try to brighten it and it squeals like "Babe" on an electric fence, but when you hit that sweet spot the sound is stellar and it needs nothing. proximity effects are smooth and predictable with good mic presence this will make your vocals shine.Ok I didn't rate the cheep bag just the Mic I would give the bag a negative 5Ok it's way cheaper than a bata 87 and the sound is on par or a little better but the bag? Really? come on guys you take this piece of working art and store it in that flimsy thin wish I had a bag bag.just pony up and make a little box with some foam like my D1000s came in, and yes after 15 years I still use those boxes with the help of some Gaffing tape.
Great mics. Excellent gain before feedback in a live setting. Crystal clear vocal mic. I also use these in a live band studio setting with excellent results. No more scratch vocals. I own several.
