Nice looking shroud over a what seems like a dimestore toaster. Not sure the mechanics of this toaster are any different than a $20 toaster the local hardware store. Just didnt want a metal toaster to clean anymore and my old one stopped working. Works great and looks good on my counter. I chose black because I looked up whether white would discolor over time. Indeed the type of plastic used, although recyclable, could yellow over time.

The Allessi plissé toaster is basic in its functionality which is exactly what I wanted. I also wanted a compact toaster, which it is. This toaster is elegant, stylish and different - all attributes I I like. It’s a toaster for 2 or 1 - we are 2, sometimes 1.Perfect for our needs.
As a styling piece for a kitchen it looks the part, but as a useful toaster, it's hopeless. Toasts unevenly is the biggest problem. One side cooked, whilst other side not even brown. Have no idea how it even passes any quality control whatsoever. No 'lift and look' to swap it around, so you have to cancel the timer to pop it up and swap sides, several times. Do not waste your money unless it's just for the looks..
It was nice but it did not turn on or do toaster stuff. Also unfortunately my whole household thought it was “the ugliest toaster they’ve ever seen.” Ouch.
Faulty. Kept tripping circuit. Returned to Peters of Kensington - replaced very promptly.
I got this toaster to match my kettle (which I love) but the highest toast setting doesn’t even brown the toast. Have to toast multiple times! Also, it smelled like ozone the first time I used it. I thought “oh no, must have left some plastic in there,” but nope.
Appearance is great. Toaster seems well made (no rattling parts). The bagel function doesn't seem to do much; I use the light/dark settings w/o the bagel option. Cord is plenty long.
Looks great in my grey and white and black kitchen and is the perfect smaller size and attractive rather than regular ugly just functional toasters
