Our two grand-daughters just love this cubby house and spend hours in it. We installed it to be part of the main house and it fits in perfectly. We put in a wooden floor to complement the house and painted it a pink white on the inside with the Tudor exterior panelling a cabin brown. It looks stunning. The painting took a little more time than expected but well worth it. Highly recommend this for young kids and am about to install one for our grand-son.

We pre-painted ours inside and out - took a bit of work but came up nice. Put it together Christmas eve so it was a Santa surprise. The instructions were pretty limited but 3 capable people managed to get it together in 2 and a half hours. It was all worth it the next morning to see the little girls faces when they found the cubby house out the back. Our little four year old hasn't left it since! We used matt paint on the outside but it would look better in a gloss so we are going to put a top coat of clear lacquer on it.The free Aston set was a great bonus, and the credits we got by buying the cubby house we put towards some wooden fruit, eggs and veggies and they are a great hit too.Would recommend this cubby.

Fantastic looking cubby! Great size, tall enough for an adult to comfortably stand in (very important when your child drags you in to spend most of the day!).Have been very impressed with the customer service, they have been more than happy to answer questions, and organised delivery for the specific timeframe we had.Must agree with the others though, in that it does take longer than expected to paint. Looks great once done!

We ordered the Alice cubby house for my kids for Christmas last year and it has been a huge hit with my kids! The house is beautifully made and once we painted it and put it together we found the assembly instructions easy to follow. We loved that it was personalised by choosing our own paint colours and fittings. The team at HipKids were absolutely amazing with their customer service and we couldn't be happier enough with our whole experience. We look forward to recommending HipKids to friends and family in the future!
This is a great little cubby. As the other reviewers have stated, it does take a little while to paint. Also, the cubby does not come with a floor so you will need to ensure you have a solid base for the cubby. My hubby built a floor and again, that took a bit of work. The construction of the cubby itself was relatively easy. Just letting you know so you have information about what you are buying. That said, we are super pleased with the final product. It really is a stylish cubby and I love that I can stand up in it. Our girls love it and I'm sure they'll be spending a lot of time in it. Now I have to pick some furniture for it!
Bought two identical cubby’s for both granddaughters, painted with 4 coats of silicone weathershield. Within 18 months the top edge was rotting, phoned only to get an ‘out of warranty’ response. These cubby’s aren’t for the outdoors, now 4 years later and one cubby is almost useless!
We love the looks of it but there are so many points of access for the water to get in. You will need to get some waterproof sealant into a lot of the joins and the detail pieces and I recommend getting some weatherproof stripping to attach to the windows as they don't fully seal and water gets in easily (we did three coats of weather shield paint - water still gets in). Also one of our walls had the incorrect design on the outside so it has a dodgy looking wall in comparison to the others. You will need a solid amount of support below this think and concreting if you want to get it level if you don't already have a hard surface to put it on. Daughter Loves it but its been a hassle
Beautiful cubby house but not meant for the outdoors! Roof had rotted after 18 months and despite 4 coats of paint, wall facing weather is rotten!
We bought the Alice cubby house for our kids for Christmas. Although the shipment was delayed, Hip kids were very good at keeping us updated and sent it through to us as soon as they got it in store. This cubby is cute. No doubt about it. We chose it because it is one of the only cubby houses on the market that is wider than it is deep. So it fit in our little yard best. It is a nice big size. I didn’t want to get something that my kids would grow out of in a few years. I have four kids aged 7-1, so we wanted something they could all use together. 😊But be warned! The painting is HARD. I cannot stress this enough. It is very, very hard. Time consuming. My husband spent the entire week leading up to Christmas painting the cubby. We’d switch occasionally so we could ... We’d switch occasionally so we could share the task. But man, what a nightmare. He feels like he lost an entire week of his holidays to painting this thing. Each wall panel is heavy, and you have to keep flipping them over to paint both sides. He also had to build a solid base on which to put the cubby. This turned out to be the easiest bit of the whole process. But it’s still a big task. My husband who has no handyman skills or natural ability researched and carefully built a large base using sleepers and marine grade plywood. 💪🏼Putting the cubby together: The instructions said it would take two adults 2 hours to build. You do need two adults. The wall pieces are very heavy and cumbersome. Please don’t attempt this by yourself.Well the holes in the wall pieces weren’t quite lining up. There was some problem solving and head scratching. In the end it took my husband and my dad SIX hours to assemble it - and they’re still not 100% happy with how it is assembled, but think it’s still probably safe. 😵💫I do also need to say that we have had our cubby now for 4 and a bit months… And the door no longer closes. Something has warped or changed or I don’t know. But the two door panels are not closing in the frame. They flap around in the wind, and I have to lean extra wood against them so they don’t stay open in the rain. I have no idea why they won’t close. When I tried to force/wrangle the doors closed. I split a bit of the door frame. We will need to sand back the edge of the door frames, then re-paint again.Neither of us can face doing this right now because we are run off our feet busy with 4 young kids, and my husband can’t bear to think or look at the cubby after the painful, painful week he spent painting and building the darn thing. The kids do enjoy the cubby house. And they play there a bit - but only when my husband and I are also in the yard. If we’re inside then they’re inside, because the kids want to be where ever we are 🫠🫠🫠.The cubby house does look gorgeous. There is no doubt about that. But please, PLEASE be aware of what you are getting yourself into when you buy this.
Very easy to put together, although a little creativity in following instructions is required. Can be built in 2 hours with 2 people, but painting takes much longer. Recommend painting prior to assembly.
