Preforms really well in games for a laptop. Thermals are not the best, and the display is dim. The quiet mode is pretty nice, you only lose a little performance and get much better acoustics. Battery is very inefficient, which of course makes sense, as this is a gaming laptop. This is clearly meant as more of a portable desktop than a laptop. From my experience, I've gotten about 4 hours screen on time while consuming content and doing basic web browsing, which is fine enough for when I'm not at the charger. DO NOT PLAY GAMES WHILE YOU ARE NOT ON THE CHARGER, this will destroy the battery very quickly. Overall, for what it is, this is a good laptop, and I would recommend it. This was a big switch from my 2020 Intel MacBook Air, and it took a lot of adjustment ... MorePreforms really well in games for a laptop. Thermals are not the best, and the display is dim. Alienware command center is a very poor piece of software. The lighting constantly switches off and the app crashes constantly. Computer also wont keep my Overclock settings after waking from sleep. I tried using the preset overclocks in the BIOS but they immediately disable when Alienware Command Center opens up on boot.

The GPU has no issues. The CPU runs very hot. I can't find any manual fan controls. The fans run at 47% the CPU runs at 87C - 99C. Automatic fan control is programmed way to low speed. I only use 16 threads. That has to change soon.

A few steps however: 1. Update BIOS Driver(Very Important) 2. Update Killer WIFI Driver 3. Update windows 4. Go to device manager and in network adapters tab select Killer Ethernet Controller -> go into power management then disable "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". Then restart. 5. Update Nvidia Driver in GeForce Experience. 6. Go into Nvidia Control Panel and then select manage display mode. Then select Use Nvidia GPU Only. Please note that Alienware Command Center sometimes does not work. Also you can overclock if you want too. Once you are done with these steps this laptop is a powerhouse.
This device is a beast when it comes to raw performance and quick workflows. However, it needs better Alienware command center software to make the full experience that much better. It takes forever to load and is usually kind of laggy depending on when you open it. Overall a phenomenal product just needs a couple tweaks to make this the ultimate mobile gaming rig.
I had to kick my old 13 r3 to the curb. It's great to be able actually play current gen games. I loved the OLED of my 13", but it's nice to not be sweating burn in. The screen is great (could be brighter) and the cherry keyboard was a nice upgrade. I've had one kind of major'ish issue. There's one fan that's making a high pitch noise when it runs. I've contacted support and someone will come out and swap the fan and fan assembly. If that all goes as plan this will be my laptop for the next few years. At least until the RTX 50 series comes out.
Dreadful quality control, no technical service and poor customer support
I don't know what is happening. My M16 is constantly "pausing" for no reason. The mouse won't move, the typing stops, everything simply freezes. Then it will start running again. I have NEVER had this happen with my other Alienware laptops. It is ridiculous. I am trying to get it returned and replaced. This is intolerable.
This will be the second Alienware laptop that has failed and needed to be replaced in under 2 months. First the GPU was faulty and now the motherboard. Quality of these new Alienware computers is nowhere close to the quality they had in the past. Previous Alienware m17 r2 lasted for over 5 years (with upgrades). I wish Dell never purchased the Alienware brand, no longer a premium product.
The Alienware m16 is a wonderful machine and it is worthy of its price tag. I say this coming from a 2022 Alienware R17 with RTX 3070. the difference in performance is worth it.what's to love?- Alienware name- Alienware build quality- the ability to upgrade Ram (2 slots) and to add an additional M2 NVME SSD. I opened my laptop for you to see where you can upgrade the SSD and replace the Ram modules (highlighted in purple)- Win 11 Professional- I know this isn't for everyone but I sometime have to access work files from home. because of the nature of my work I have to have bitlocker enabled in order for me to join my workgroup, which requires Win professional.what's to like:- Screen Quality is very good with 165 hz display. its bright enough for gaming if ... MoreThe Alienware m16 is a wonderful machine and it is worthy of its price tag.
