Alishaan Super Basmati Rice 5kg

Great presentation of product. I finally got a bag of this 5kg Alishaan Super Basmati Rice after visiting a couple Of Woolworths. There was none available as it was on sale from $20 to $10 for quite a while. I finally got a bag at my 3rd Woolworths shop. I loved the presentation of the bag with the rope handle, excellent cooking instructions, recipe idea and other information, it was well planned out. Only improvement would be to to include a re-sealable top for convenience. Wouldn’t want any weevils to get into it when opened and will take a long time to use this quantity. Will also need quite a few containers to pour it into. While I always rinse my rice several times, I do not usually soak it before cooking. Quality Basmati Rice. Thanks Bunch this was a lovely sample to receive. When we went to pick it up my husband saw the price, he said it was a very generous sample from Woolworths. Then all the the same breath he said that they needed to give us something to have with it, Lol. He felt it was an overwhelming amount of rice. There is a clear, see through strip down the side of the bag where they proudly display the basmati rice. When I saw the rice through this, I said to my husband that we won't have any problems with the amount as this looks like a real quality rice and we'll enjoy it. There are a lot of fake basmati rice's on the market but this tastes authentic and is superb. The only dish that I don't use Basmati rice for is fried rice. Not that you can't, many use Basmati for fried rice, it's just that I prefer long grain rice. We will definitely enjoy this rice and recommend it.

I cut the corner of the bag with scissors, and when attempted to pour it into a container, rice went everywhere! I didn't have much control over such a heavy bag. I found I had to think well ahead of time, so I could get my rice soaking before I got too hungry! Since we don't cook rice a lot, I'm not too sure if this is a normal amount of time to cook rice (about 45 mins). I am much more inclined to buy quick/ready rice as my time is pretty limited for cooking as it is!Overall the rice tasted like good rice once cooked. It was fluffy and light and was a good addition to our meals.

Couldn’t believe my eyes when I read that I was being offered a 5kg bag of Basmati rice Easily located on the bottom shelf in the rice aisle where all the other large bags of rice are. I liked that the bag had a strong rope handle to help with transporting the bag. The design of the bag with its green colouring and patterning made it seem like a fancy authentic rice. I find it funny when the text printed on the packaging has obviously been translated from another language and it doesn’t quite make sense in this case “Long grain Basmati rice for an unforgettable culinary”. We don’t have enough containers in the house to store 5kg all at once so I transferred some into containers but the remaining will have to stay in the bag until I can use it. Cooked some in our rice cooker and served with a fish and vegetable stir fry. The rice was drier than the rice we regularly eat so wasn’t fluffy. Therefore was also not gluggy. Tasted as to expected and it went well with the fish dish. Product of India Has a 1 and 1/2 year shelf life. Usually costs $20 for the 5kg which is comparable to other brands. Probably won’t buy it again as we are happy with regular long grain rice for our meals.

The bag I usually buys comes in a material bag with a zip, although I decant the rice into an extra large container, it would be more convenient for some people, for this bag to be resealed, like a ziplock bag. I streamed the rice with my usually method. Put 2 cups of washed rice into a nonstick saucepan then added 3 cups of water. Over medium heat, bring the water to a rapid boil. Put a lid on the saucepan, reduce heat to low and simmer for 12 minutes. Turn heat off and sit for 5 minutes (10 to 15 is fine too). Fluff rice and serve. After cooking the rice, I used some of the cooked rice to make a quick creamy rice (photo). Simmered milk, cream, brown sugar a cinnamon stick ... MoreTasty and fluffy. This was easy to find in my woolies store as they had quite a few there, and being on special half price $10. 00 bargain!This is huge and so much so, I have bundled up a few bags for my neighbours and and shared it with them! And wrote out the cooking instructions for them. I have followed the directions on the back and this cooked nicely, But I used my rice cooker. The rice was nice and fluffy and had a great aroma! I made a Keto meal for myself so Mr M had some with the rice! I did try a little and we both agree that this rice is a wonderful choice to have and it has such aromatic flavours without even adding anything to it. Being a large family of 6 (quite often plus another, care of my son's girlfriend and her regular visits), we tend to use quite a bit of rice!So far, we have used this rice as a base for tandoori chicken, with @dwbeth0's gorgeous Chorizo and Veggie Stir Fry, with @eve152's great Rice Cheesy Melt and as a base for honey soy chicken. Each and every time, the rice has complemented the dishes beautifully. It cooks up (in a rice cooker) fluffy and tasty and we have had absolutely no issues with it. Upon purchase, we poured the rice into a hessian bag that we keep our rice in. This keeps it in good condition and makes it easy to decant for use. The original purchase ... MoreGreat bulk buy. Lovely fluffy not stick rice. Having never used basmati rice I was pleasantly surprised at how great this product was. Firstly the packaging was sturdy and strong. The plastic is very durable so not able to be ripped or torn easily. The bag comes with a very convenient rope handle which makes it easy for lifting and carrying. As mentioned by others it would be great if the pack was resealable given it is a 5kg bag. Easy and quick to cook, I found this rice lovely and fluffy. It doesn't stick or clump together. Product of India and advertised as GMO free. Very happy with this product and have enjoyed cooking with it.
