Absolutely adore this stainless steel saucepan! Purchased it decades ago at Williams Sonoma as part of a larger set and it’s held up amazingly. Cooks evenly, very easy to hand wash or put in the dishwasher. I will say that the lid handles do get very, very hot. Not the saucepan handle, but the lid. Great heat distribution and my favorite set of cookware!

While I did not buy this particular set, I do own all the pieces, from my original, nearly 25 year old D3 3-Qt Saute, saucepan, and 10" skillet, to my most recent additions of the non-stick pans. This is a near perfect set, easily covering 90+% of any stovetop needs. If I could add just one piece, it would be the 2-Qt round-bottom saucier. It is invaluable for cooking risottos and custard for ice cream base, or any other sauce where the round bottom minimizes hot-spots and scorching that forms in the corners of other saucepans. It uses the same lid as the 3-Qt saucepanThe choice of the HA-1 non-stick pans is a nod to the fact that all non-stick pans have a limited lifespan and need replacing every 3-5 years. The pan will last forever, the nonstick coating will not.In buying this set, you are laying the foundation for a life-long kitchen. This is important, not just for sentimental reasons, as a home cook it gives you the opportunity to really learn how to use your pans. When I grab my sauté pan, whether making "Côtelette de Porc aux Pommes et Oignons" scented with allspice, and deglazed with Calvados. or pan-searing scallops with rosemary and shallots, I am confident of what to expect and how to best utilize my pans.

This all clad pan was very highly reviewed and the handle said to be comfortable. Not my experience at all. The pan is very heavy, the handle too long, and I find it very uncomfortable to hold. It has a depression for your thumb but it's too narrow and not hefty enough to counterbalance the weight of the pan. I also realize now that I prefer a glass lid. Even though they steam up I can still see when something comes to a boil. I'd like to return the pan but I foolishly disposed of the box - recycling day I guess - right away.

My first order from All-Clad, and a very fine saucepan was delivered. I have a 3 quart stew pot from maybe a competing but very similar brand, Emeril, that I've had for years and needed that size in a saucepan to use on my new induction stovetop. It is wonderful when technology can combine with very solidly built cooking tools such as yours. Some pots and pans can be a bit noisy on an induction burner. This pot is silent. It's fast and even heat make cooking a joy.
This is the set that, if you don't buy it now, you will end up with later. All-Clad D3 is as close to an industry standard for quality, performance and durability as it gets. Non-stick pans are very handy for many things, eggs come to mind, but eventually they do wear out. The HA-1 series balances All-Clad robustness with the expendability so you don't feel so bad about replacing them every 5 years or so. As for the selection offered here, I could only argue about the 3-Qt saucepan. Personally, I find my 2-Qt gets used far more often than my 3-Qt, but that's more personal preference than anything. If I bought this set today, my next purchase would be a 2Qt Saucier with rounded corners ensuring more even heat making delicate sauces that are much less likely to break ... MoreThis is the set that, if you don't buy it now, you will end up with later. In a custard, for example, the difference between 160 and 165 degrees is the difference between a good custard and scrambled eggs.
I read the 1 star reviews that complained about the weird size. There are two 2 qt pots. One is tall and narrow and one is stout and wider. I bought the D3 tall and narrow because there is less splashover and it's easy for me to use. I really like it and, as a single person, it's the perfect size for soups and sauces. Unfortunately, when I was boiling some water, I accidentally let it boil down to dry and it discolored the sides and the inside of the pot so it doesn't look pretty anymore. Does this fall under the lifetime warranty? Can I get a replacement?
I was excited to order this set and when it arrived it was incomplete did not have all the pans in the picture and the first time i used the skillet and boiled water in the pot the pans stained and discolored. My neighbor came over who loves her all clad pans and could not scrub mine clean. I called to return them and was. Ot able to speak with customer service or sales department just the warranty department. I’m returning them. I wanted to love them however i never got the entire set a pan was missing and they did not was up or wear well after one use.
I bought the Mixed Material Cookware Set, 10 piece set having not read the warranty thoroughly. I have used the nonstick skillet, made in China, two times to make scrambled eggs with a rubber spatula. The skillet already has scratches. If I had read the warranty closely I would have seen that scratches are not covered. Had this skillet been used for years I could understand this to be normal wear and tear. Customer service was fine, I just had more expectations from a cookware set that cost $499. I will not purchase from this company again.
I love All-Clad cookware as a rule - I have a large wok pan of theirs I've been using for years and refuse to ever part with. I needed an extra sauce pan (after moving and realizing my current one was not induction-stovetop friendly) and purchased this 3Qt one. It is high quality and does the job really well. My only nit-pick is that it is heavy. And the pan's current handle makes that weight a bit uncomfortable to manage, even without it being overly full. I'm sure I will persevere, and it will be great to cook with, I just didn't realize quite how much mass it occupied, and how the handle would be less than ideal in managing that.
I was not thinking about writing a review, but since I've read some other people's reviews, I thought I would add mine. I bought two 2qt. All Clad sauce pans about three years ago. I love the look of these pots so much, as well as how they feel in use. So far the only thing I've used this pot for is boiling water. A couple of times, the water boiled dry and the pot turned horribly black, inside and out, with horrible raised black deformations. The pot was impossible to clean, even with Bartender's Helper and vinegar and baking soda. This type of discoloration has never happened in older cheaper pots that I've owned. The discoloration seems to be very deep into the metal, obviously since it distorted the metal as well. I was told I shouldn't use the pot anymore. ... MoreI was not thinking about writing a review, but since I've read some other people's reviews, I thought I would add mine. I bought two 2qt. Though the water boiled dry, it was not left that long in that condition, and should not have led to such horrible discoloration of the pot and distortions in the metal. I am very disappointed in these pots and frustrated with the long term quality.
