Alpinestars T-Core Air Drystar Jacket

Have this jacket in a large 5'11 180lbs, put the best Alpinestars back protector and the ce lvl 2 chest protectors in and it still comfortable. Live in south Florida so it gets really hot but this jacket is great when moving the air flows through like a air conditioner. The only time it gets hot is when sitting to long. Took a minute to get used to this style of jacket because it is a little short. Comes to my belt line in the front. I also use the Wake air pants hooks up very nice.

Good Jacket with Great Features

The European sizing takes one size larger than US. The medium was just a little more snug than usual but I like it. The zip pocket in the back for the rain liner is an excellent design idea. I would have liked to also have a thermal liner in this jacket.

Good jacket for warm and cold weather

I bought this jacket mainly because of its 3 season versatility considering the removable waterproof/windproof inner liner. In colder weather (around 30°F) the liner works extremely well with the addition of long sleeve layers underneath. In warmer weather (around 60-80°F) remove the liner and the wind flow is fairly decent while moving. For me, this jacket is not the most comfortable choice in weather hotter than 80°F because of the jacket's black color and fairly heavy weight. I would also suggest considering buying one size larger so that you are more comfortable and have room to move around, especially considering the armor in the jacket and hip armor in your pants.I would have given a 5 star rating if the chest and back protectors came standard on this ... MoreI bought this jacket mainly because of its 3 season versatility considering the removable waterproof/windproof inner liner. Those protectors alone were around $100. In addition to that, the inner liner does seem to be made out of a thin garbage-bag like material, which could very well rip and become useless if not handled with care.

The fit was just right for me. It does have an aggressive cut, which suits one's posture on a sport bike but is a little awkward when one is off the bike. Even though it is a snug fit, I'm still able to fit a heavy sweater and layers under it when needed for warmth. The back and chest pads are not very noticeable when wearing the jacket and they do not change the appearance from the outside noticeably.Quality: The construction is very good. Seems like it should last for years to come. The adjustments on the arms allow one to get a tight fit for protection and streamlining of arms. Waist adjustment allows good range of tight vs loose. The venting is sufficient for even a very warm day, but like any jacket, it can be a little uncomfortable when you're not in motion. Zippers are high quality and easy to use (except for American men the main zipper is awkward insofar as it is the reverse of what we're accustomed to).Gripes: The pockets where one inserts the chest protectors opens too easily (it's a very lightweight velcro fastener) allowing the chest protector to slip out unbeknownst to the wearer. I lost one of the protectors in just that way. Also, occasionally the Nucleon back protector slides out of place somewhat and suddenly makes one aware again that there is actually a back protector installed.

Sized too small

I bought a 4x and it still doesn't fit. I'm not that fat. The zipper is left sided. Is this a ladies or something? It is a beautiful jacket, I just can't wear it

Versatile textile jacket.

I use this jacket year-round in the PNW. The drystar liner blocks wind and moisture well and is easily removed when the weather gets warm. The micro-mesh flows a great amount of air and the panels are well placed, even when wearing a backpack. The standard compliment of pockets is adequate, and the rabbit pocket on the tail is great for storing the drystar liner if riding without a backpack or luggage. After a year of use there are no significant signs of wear and most importantly there are no frayed stitches or cheap materials wearing out.The drystar liner is comfortable to wear against the skin on the arms when wearing a short sleeve shirt and does seem to allow moisture from the body to vent from the jacket, very similar to gore-tex garments.I have used this ... MoreI use this jacket year-round in the PNW. I'm giving this jacket top marks as it has rightfully earned.Tip: The A-10 Air V2 pants match the aesthetic of this jacket very well as the reflective panels, micro-mesh, & ballistic nylon fabric appear identical to the T-core jacket. The only difference on the A-10 Air V2's are the A*'s icons on the knees which are white, but it's 99% match.
