BIO armor in shoulders is stiffy; I compared it to CE 2 KLIM D3O armor and the D3O is definitely softer, looks a tad bit more breathable and a slight bit more comfortable, but I don't think it's cost effective to swap them because the shoulder doesnt really need that much comfort like the elbows, which I may end up swapping out for more flexible armor. The side jacket pockets leave something to be desired; I have to definitely take ... MoreI bought a new bike off the lot, fresh out of MSF course and asked for a jacket. Great starter jacket overall, love how tight it fits, especially in the arms because I hate having "bat wings" especially when you have armor weighing down the fabric.I ride in Houston, TX weather since March to now June (70's to high 80's) and although it can get sweaty during low speeds/red lights (don't all jackets though?), after speeding up I've never had a problem with excess sweating.

I've but about 3500 miles on this jacket. It included a zipper for the rear of the jacket, all I had to do was stitch the other half to my pants. This helps the jacket stay down and not ride up. I bought the icon back protector and it fits perfectly. Very large water proof pocket just under the left chest. That zipper is kind of hard to move on mine. Able to fit the largest smart phones and a wallet with room to spare. The jacket has mesh on the chest and back area. The arms aren't mesh. Also includes 2 velcro straps around the hips to tighten up the waist. Zip up sleeves with velcro. Two small pockets on the front, great for receipts or slim wallet. Great summer jacket!
24 April 2023

Recently bought this jacket and couldn't be happier. Nice cross between safety and hot weather comfort. It breathes much better than most summer jackets I've worn while riding. I live in the desert so it gets very hot but stays dry. While riding I feel cool and can feel the air passing around my arms and torso. Overall great style and fit. Alpinestars has always made a good product.I suggest buying a size larger if you plan on wearing under shirts or any layers other than a T-Shirt underneath. I'm a medium build and so the jacket fit me pretty spot on. If your are ordering online, as always, I would recommend going into a store to try them on for fit before confirming purchase. You can upgrade the safety padding and armor as well but it will add a little weight ... MoreRecently bought this jacket and couldn't be happier. After going through 6 other textile and mesh jackets from Revit, Dainese, Icon and Scorpion finally stopped my search on Alpinestars T-GP Plus R V3 Air - size L. I am 6.0 and 170 lbs, and a lot of jackets are either short, or loose (arms or waist), or just poor quality. This jacket fits well with a T-shirt, a bit snug with thin sweater. Very breathable, would not recommend for temperatures lower than +10 C. Perfect for summer. A bit pricey, considering I had to buy a back protector separately. The armour is quite flexible and comfortable, yet feels like it can withstand strong impact (lucky that did have to test it).Giving it 4 stars, because elbow and shoulder armour cannot be taken out, and it had a funny smell when I got it. I’ve been a huge fan of Astars for over 20 years but I can no longer claim that. I have a mesh T-Stunt Astars jacket I bought about 15 years ago that out classes this jacket in every way.The materials in the jacket feel thin and cheap, The armor in the elbows hurt when I bend my arms, the wrists only use a small cheap Velcro tab to close them and there’s so much extra material it bunches up and is really uncomfortable. For comparison my 15 year old jacket is still in great condition I just wanted something new. The closures on the wrists of the T-Stunt I own are zippers and a snap closure. The mesh and textile on it are far more substantial. Nice but, not LED compatible with Tech Air 5
14 August 2020

Excellent. I hate to give anything but a 5 star review as I like Motomummy. The issue is this, neither Alpinestars or Motomummy has any information that this or any other Alpinestar jacket for that matter is NOT compatible in regards to the sleeve LED to the Tech Air 5. Alpinestars has it in BIG bold letter, compatible with Tech Air just left off the "5." To my dismay, I'll have to be looking at my belly button to confirm that the Tech Air 5 is in fact active. I was really looking forward to having the LED working on the sleeve. Alpinestars and hopefully Motomummy will take this review to heart and help other buyers realize that this function isn't available. Nice jacket, you are paying a little extra for Alpinestars logos and style of course! This jacket has Nucleon protection on shoulders and elbows - very flexible and unobtrusive.Very easy to upgrade protection if you want to, accessible pockets with Velcro fastening inside the lining. The all black/ stealthy version has black plastic lettering and logos, the others have much nicer stitched emblems and logos.Overall, a good choice if you want a stylish look while out on your sports bike.

Stylish and sturdy, but horribly sized. Tall guys should size up by 2 at a minimum.

I'll lead with the good: it's a great looking jacket by a respected brand. It's light, stylish, and sure to gain you the street cred that Alpinestars often commands. But my god, they have got to do something about their sizing standards. I understand that "European" trim is a thing but Alpinestars is really pushing it. I am 6'2", 150lbs (male) so I am tall and skinny. I have worn medium shirts and jackets ever since I cleared puberty. My past two moto jackets were sized Small and Medium, respectively, and both of them were noticeably bigger than this jacket sized in a LARGE. The main culprit is the length. At my height, the Large barely makes it past my belly button. Furthermore, I tried on the XL and XXL at my local Cycle Gear and they barely extended half an inch further than the Large - rendering an exchange basically pointless. It seems that Alpinestars just doesn't make gear for tall folks. It may seem like I'm being overly picky about size but fitment is a big review point for a motorcycle jacket. This is a piece of armored gear and should fit properly with full coverage for maximum safety. In the future, I will probably look to other brands for better fitment.
