I had these speakers for just over a year and they no longer hold a battery charge and will only work when plugged into a USB plug. So they are no longer portable. Called Altec Lansing and they said that the warranty has expired (one year) and and the batteries are not replaceable so no manufacture support is available. To bad when the speakers worked they were loud and clear.

They advertise you can sync the two speakers. I was never successful and talked to many people who had the same problem. Very difficult to stay paired when there are other speakers or active bluetooth devices in the area. Battery is fair and the sound is pretty good when it works. Would not recommend to purchase again.

Very happy with this speaker. It delivers a surprising amount of sound with great bass for music and clear treble for voice audio. It does in fact float, and as advertised it is completely water and sand proof. It can even be submerged if desired. The charging port has a thick rubber cover to prevent water from seeping in, so be sure to keep it closed when not charging. Battery life is not outstanding, but to is still rather good. It will go about 5-6 hours on a charge playing heavy music at max volume. As usual the price at Staples was very competitive and for the money this is for sure a superb buy. Would very highly recommend.

Has great sound but some vibration in it, a lot of boom for a small box. I would almost want it bigger though because the battery only lasts like 3 hours if utilized at full volume. You have to have a constant power source if you're going to make a night out of it. Why they made the plug a MicroSD I will never understand, as everybody's converting over to the C style charger.
I bought this with a bit of skepticism, but it turned out to be more than I could have asked for. I was looking for a Bluetooth speaker that could be an extension of my simple television set. I ended up using it both in the bedroom and the living room and even going out and about listening to music. As far as battery life goes, for the first time in 6 days with intermittent charging, I finally had to charge it because of shutdown. I think that's pretty good myself and I would recommend this highly for anyone that isn't looking for a big boom, but a small boom absolutely great
Great speaker, I purchased the Camo one(which was $10 more, which I understand it’s a little more complicated to paint it Camo) but I still have my old Bluetooth speaker which was an 808 Canz small speaker I got for $25. And this baby boomer XL, lol, is barely louder than that Canz, which is disappointing considering the price and the fact it has 2 speakers built in and the Canz had 1. The other annoying thing is it doesn’t want to connect when it’s plugged into the charger so I have to disconnect the charger then turn it on, let it sync up(which as a plus it syncs up very quickly) then plug it back in, and it also says up to 6 hours battery life. Well listening to it at work so I can hear it I have the volume all the way up and it last about 2 1/2 to 3 hours.. ... MoreGreat speaker, I purchased the Camo one(which was $10 more, which I understand it’s a little more complicated to paint it Camo) but I still have my old Bluetooth speaker which was an 808 Canz small speaker I got for $25. Well listening to it at work so I can hear it I have the volume all the way up and it last about 2 1/2 to 3 hours.. pretty unfortunate, the old Canz would last full blast like 4-5 hours. The only other plus is when I’m synced up to it I can hear my phone calls through it which I can’t on the Canz. So all in all a decent speaker, looks cool, but I’d buy something better if I could do it over again and get something louder and longer battery life. So I give it a mediocre score at 3 stars, would’ve been 2 if it wasn’t the Camo one.
This speaker, the Baby Boom XL, is an A+ commodity that I love taking with me everywhere I go. That is until I took it to the river last week. After only a couple of hours of it being in and out of the water, without much fondling or button-pressing, mind you, one side of the speaker stopped working the very next day. It no longer projects audio volume as loudly as before. Now, a lot of troubleshooting is required to connect through Bluetooth properly. And it tends to pop and crackle quite frequently (especially when trying to connect other devices). Before using it at the river, my Baby Boom XL speaker worked flawlessly. I've only owned the speaker for maybe four months or so, and while I do enjoy using it often, I take good care of it — y'know, in hopes of it ... MoreThis speaker, the Baby Boom XL, is an A+ commodity that I love taking with me everywhere I go. I've only owned the speaker for maybe four months or so, and while I do enjoy using it often, I take good care of it — y'know, in hopes of it lasting a long time for me to enjoy. Perhaps it's my fault for taking Altec's "waterproof" description at face value; I should have known better... One thing is quite certain: this speaker is NEITHER submersible NOR capable of withstanding water while operating. I'm incredibly disappointed that this once beloved staple for extracurriculars now barely works and sounds distorted. Altec Lansing should pair with LifeProof so these speakers can live up to their namesake. Tsk.
amazing sound from such small speakers. the speakers are stupid proof, in other words rain, snow, sand, and dust will not hurt them ( IP67 RATED). biggest feature is the true wireless stereo pairing, gives you real stereo separation out of the speakers. and here's the kicker, all this under $20 - excellent value
Unexpectedly good, actual stereo sound. I read reviews & think "Uh-huh." But this little speaker actually performs with big, impressive sound. Volume at 50% is easily heard throughout all rooms in my 900 sq. ft. 2 bedroom home. It's LITTLE, less than a dollar bill in length, about the same height. It IS heavier than I expected, but is not cumbersome. Works well with cell phone calls. Haven't yet figured out how to turn the ringer volume down for an incoming call (the ringer volume button on the phone can be at 1, calls through the speaker will still ring at max volume!). It would be hard to say you didn't hear an incoming call! Charges fully in about 2-1/4 hours; battery lasts about 6 hours. I feel it was money very well worth spent.
I have had three of these. These speakers sound great for the price. My problem with them is the pairing mode. Each of them has the same problem. At some point they begin not to be able to go into pairing mode. They will flash red and blue momentarily, but will not stay long enough to pair a new device. This is very frustrating because at that point you are only able to use a device that is already paired. If you happen to buy a new phone you are just SOL.
