I received a sample product and used it with two different shampoos. Once with Drunken Elephant (which I'm still unsure of yet) and with Kevin Murphy. I've tried several products to help with my damaged hair, and have been disappointed.My reaction after using this twice.... I'm in love. LOVE. My hair has never felt so smooth in a long time. I enjoy running my hands through it. it smells great. It isn't heavy, which I was scared of. other products I've used gave my fine hair weight and lifeless 4 hours in after using it. This gives softness and a bit of volume .Also, a little goes a long way.

I almost passed on this product because a lot of reviews said it was not great for fine hair. I have long waist length fine individual strains of hair in a medium thickness in terms of volume. I apply this product to clean towel dry hair before blow drying/ styling. A little goes a long way. I dispense a nickel size of product and use the warmth of my hands to rub it into an oil consistency and then apply it to the strains of my hair starting from the top of my ears down to the ends. This helps to tame those little fly away baby hairs in photos and provides heat protection from hot styling tools. This retails for $45 for 150mL in Canada.

I've returned to my natural color, but it was very obvious to me that my new hair growth was so much healthier looking than the damaged portion. This is fragranced, and I happen to like the scent a lot, but it has a perfume element to it that I know not everyone will necessarily like, especially for those who completely avoid any product with added fragrance. Again, I have a lot of damage, and this really helped me, but I can't say that this will be great for all hair types. It's possible that it will maybe be too heavy for someone with fine hair, for example. So, this rating is only based on my personal experience with it. I don't blow dry my hair, but my mom does, so when her birthday and other holidays roll around, I gather up the samples & minis I've received that say "heat activated" and "blowout" and the like to add to her gifts. A few weeks ago, she came to me with a wee lavender tube to tell me that she just *loves* the way this makes her hair look and feel. I tucked that little bit of info away, thinking ahead to Mother's Day. When the Sephora sale came around in mid-April, I placed an order to get this treat for her to show her some appreciation. It's still April, but (remembering how small that tube was and how empty it already was) I decided to present the full size tube to her early. Beware! "New Formulation" noticeably lackluster

If you have loved this product in the past, I'm not sure you will love it any more. I loved how nourished and polished my hair felt after applying a pea-sized amount as directed after blow drying my hair. It restored a healthy shine and gave my hairstyle a gentle shaping hold as well. I noticed that that the product had new packaging but couldn't wait to have more of this amazing stuff. Unfortunately, the product has been reformulated, and my hair no longer gets that healthy, nourished shine that I loved. It's amazing how much of a difference deleting a couple of ingredients makes. This is an expensive disappointment

Not made for thin hair!

I bought this item in an Ulta store. I have used Alterna products in the past and loved their scents and decided to try them again. I have 3b curls and my hair frizzes easily, although it is on the thinner side. I decided to try this since I blow-dry my hair about 2x a week. After I tried it about 3x, I decided to return it. It left my hair very greasy and did not help with frizz at all. Even though the bottle says its made for medium to thick hair, I gave it a chance anyway and just used less, but it still didn't work. I've been using customized Prose products for the last 3 months and their leave in conditioner alone does a perfect job compared to this. I will be going back to my usual routine.

Really Helps Me With Frizz

I got a deluxe sample size of this product and put it away and didn't touch it for months. I recently decided to give it a try and I am really impressed. I have fine, wavy, frizzy, thin hair. Usually when I blow dry my hair it will be frizzy and my waves go crazy. When I use this blow out butter I can blow dry my hair and I don't even feel the need to straighten it! It adds a bit of volume to my hair as well and makes it look a little bit thicker surprisingly. I will definitely be buying a full size of this. It's been really great for my hair texture.

Use this before using Dyson air wrap

I am on my second bottle of this. It helps my frizzy, dry, highlighted hair not look horrible when I blow it out with my dyson. You need to be cautious of how much you use. If you use too much especially close to the root it can look oily. This is how I use it.Once I towel dry my hair well and line it, I rub about two quarter sized drops in my hands and apply it mid length to ends (my ends are the driest). I then use left residue on my hands on my roots. As I blowout each section using the hard smoothing brush on my airwrap, I may use more as needed but very small amounts. My result is smooth straight hair.

Wonderful

I never blow dry my hair, but had a sample and thought I’d give it a whirl. My hair is thick, wavy, down to my butt, and loves to frizz up.After using this product my hair was fricking GLORIOUS. Zero frizz, dried beautifully, waves looked incredible, even in humid 100 degree weather. I used it from about 3 inches below my roots and down.I’ve tried a LOT of different products to get my hair to look this good, and this has been the best.Also, nobody gave me anything to write this review. I just seriously dig this styling butter.

Works great on my treated hair

I went full blonde a few months ago and I blow dry my hair every day. This product is everything it claims it does. It smells nice, made my hair super soft and smooth after usage, and sped up the blow dry time. Although this product says that it is mainly directed towards medium to thick hair, I can attest that it also works on fine hair. I have long hair and a lot of it, but my hair tends to lean towards the fine side. Think tons of little trees in a large forest rather than a few big trees in a forest. This really does everything it says. I recommend not using this on your roots as it could easily produce buildup making your hair look oily or flat.
