Itās roughly a millimeter of tolerance which isnāt a huge deal, but for those who would be irritated by this discrepancy, I do think it is worth noting. And given the price youāre paying, I donāt think itās unreasonable to expect better.Another thing I notice is that finger oils are more likely to be apparent when you touch the vegan leather on the ALTI. This product serves as a protective surface for your desk and also as a wireless charging station. In addition, if you have a glass desk like I do, it serves as a mouse pad since I cannot use my mouse on the glass surface.The Journey ALTI is made from high-quality vegan leather that is, durable, smooth textured, and provides a comfortable surface to work on. The mat is equipped with a Qi-certified wireless charging pad, capable of charging smartphones, earbuds, and other Qi-compatible devices efficiently and the cable for the built-in wireless charger is long enough that it will reach most outlets without an issue. I had no issues charging my iPhone or airpods on the integrated wireless charger.I like clean simple services and I normally donāt use desk mats or mouse pads. The only reason for me to use a desk mat or mouse pad is if the surface I am working on wonāt work with a mouse. So, for my usage and my perspective, I want to ensure that the desk mat I am using provides as many functions as possible. If you like desk mats or need one I would recommend looking at the Journey ALTI as it incorporates numerous desk top functions, the biggest of which is the integrated wireless charger.

I will note that depending on your setup, it will be difficult to write on a full sized piece of paper if you have your keyboard and mouse on the mat. The mat stayed in place all day and the top layer of the mat is very comfortable and I actually really like having the additional padding on the bottom. It gives your whole arm a little more cushion.I am very impressed with the size of the charging part of the mat and I am glad that it is separate so that I can move it around on my desk. There is a magnet strip on the side that binds the top and the bottom layers of the mat. I didnāt notice it until I started moving the charging station part around my desk. The magnetic part is not really strong but itās enough to keep the both pieces together. The magnet section for the phone (the circle) is SUPER strong, and it works great for my phone. (Please note, I normally charge my phone at night, so I waited until my phone was about 77% and I tried out the charging and it charged to 100% in about 35 minutes. I used my fast charger that I got with my tablet.) So if you are one that moves your arm around the desk constantly throughout the day even if you hit accidentally hit your phone while it is charging, it shouldnāt move. You have to physically take the phone off the charger for it to move. The USB-C charge cord is at the top or you can flip it around and it can be on the bottom. Your choice. It can be on the right or left of the mat, or if you want to place it somewhere else, it is separate from the mat, so you can put it anywhere. Currently, I am undecided where I want to keep mine because I need it to be closer to my charging tower. The square section for your headphones magnet section is not as strong. So beware with the arm movements. There is a small dot above the square charge port and it blinks when the circle charger is in use.Overall, I am very pleased with the mat and charging plate and I would definitely purchase again! I would also recommend to friends and family.

The felt I feel helps wick away some of the moisture your skin gets from smothering against the desk. The other side offers its advantages as well. The premium vegan leather I think works better when I go from working to gaming. The leather surface has less friction than the felt and the mouse moves a bit smoother across because of it.The two sides are only joined at one end, where the wireless charging attaches. Because of this, you can stash away a few sheets of paper to help with clutter. I keep a sheet of paper for scrap notes when Iām on calls that I then summarize in an email or notes app. When Iām done for the day, I can slide this in between the two fabrics to keep my desk looking tidy.The wireless charging part of the matt feels like itās made with the same premium vegan leather on top and a more rubberized material on the bottom to help keep it all in place. Thereās a small, recessed area at the top which is clearly for your wireless charging AirPods case. Also, youāll see the raised round part of the pad which is meant for devices using the Magsafe standard. I also expect devices that support Qi2 wireless charging might also benefit from this, but I did not have a device on hand to be able to test this. Either way, if your device supports Qi wireless charging, you shouldnāt have any issues using it with a non-magsafe device.As far as connecting the device, youāre given a fairly basic usb-c to usb-c charging cable. No brick included, for sustainability purposes. The cable could have been a bit nicer considering youāre buying a desk mat with premium materials like felt and vegan leather. A braided cable would have matched the aesthetics here. Also, Iām not sure if thereās color matching, as Iām using the black desk pad and got a black cable, but I would also expect that from a high end mouse pad.Using it is a pleasant experience. My phone and AirPods are detected immediately. You have a rather large detection area for the AirPods. This helps as the AirPod charging area isnāt magnetic, and you may inadvertently bump the AirPods, bump the desk, and if it moves a little, you wonāt risk losing out on perfect alignment. As for charging my iPhone, the magnet is very grippy, and there is usually some lift of the mat if I pull straight up. It does disconnect before the full weight of the mat is held, but itās easier if you just angle it off and thatās easy to do.Charging speeds are about what you would expect with the iPhone or AirPods. Itās not the most efficient way to charge your phone but itās very convenient. And if your phone is just going to sit on the desk anyways, it might as well be charging.All together, this is a great desk mat. I like the idea of it being reversible. Even if itās just to change things up a bit, itās nice to have options. Everything feels premium and well made, aside from the charge cable, and looks like it will hold up to the test of time. Easy to recommend.
