The Amazon Echo 5 is a amazing device I highly recommend it, it has so many features that make you feel as though you have a personal secretary on call around the clock .I had the ability to use the echo to watch Netflix and some other video apps like YouTube and tik tok. it also has the ability to connect to the internet for web browsing, extremely easy to set up and having a Amazon account makes it even better because it gives you the freedom to be able to keep track of your purchases or to make purchases, it also notifies you if you return an item that you purchase so that way you know when your refund is on its way. It can link to my security system which is a great feature you just have to give permission for it to do so, I love the fact that I can access my doorbell so I can see who's at my door and you can speak to them clearly. By the way you don't have to have all your devices be Amazon or Alexa for it to work with other cameras or doorbells. It will work with Google and it will also work with ADT and other cameras that you probably can purchase from other websites and I know this for a fact. I also like the ability to be able to access my other blink cameras in my home so that way I can know what's going on and also keep track of my pets which is a great ability to have. You can also make video calls and receive video calls or have someone drop in once the permission is granted to receive information like if I want to tell my children dinner's ready I can drop into the intercom or I can tell them to go check the mailbox or go walk the dog so that's what the drop-in feature allows .you also have your privacy because the echo comes with a switch that blocks the camera so you don't have to worry about thinking anyone is watching you plus you can mute the device so the device cannot hear you, you can even change the name so instead of calling it Alexa you can call it names like echo or Amazon. Schedule appointments find out what the weather is going to be, get reminders of anything like planning future vacations the list goes on. One of my relaxing enjoyments is telling Alexa to play meditation music or to watch soothing Shoreline water crash up against the shore or even having it display a aquarium when i go to bed. So honestly the list of things you can do is Limitless so I highly recommend it, give it a chance you'll enjoy it and remember you don't have to get the newest one to reap all the benefits some of the older models can do a lot of the same things and they come in bigger sizes which is why I purchase two more. Yeah it's a great display and you can use it for alarm clock one of my children had trouble sitting there alarm clock so now to be able to just tell it what time you want to be up or to remind you to work out make things so much easier plus if you are not available to your child and your child need help with homework you can ask the device questions and more than likely it will have the answer.

So what does the new, 3rd Generation Echo Show 5 have to offer?First off, the design, it's a more 'triangular' shape when looking down from above. We had previously been using a first generation 'puck' in there for years now, and wanted a little more information displayed on the screen, while being able to blend it into the background. Choosing a dark wood finish on the screen definitely helped with that in our 'Steampunk' inspired room.The triangular shape helps with the improved sound, a slightly larger speaker inside offers nicer, cleaner sound, with a little more bass at higher volumes that previously possible. The operation of the whole product is faster. Quicker to load from first power up, it feels more responsive to touch, sometimes a little too responsive when trying to scroll through the menus when setting it up at first.We turned the camera off, and via a the menus, turn off most of the unwanted options and main ads that we didn't want. There are still a few suggestions that are pushed to you when it is 'awake' but if you don't walk past it and activate it, you can see your background and the time nice and clearly from across the room.We don't have any intention of watching video or content like that from the screen in our dining room, but we do play music, we check our notifications, our weather alerts etc, and this is absolutely perfect for that.Very simple to set up, especially if you are already an Alexa user, but even for a first timer, you are walked through the set up process and you can skip steps if you are unsure or unfamiliar, like the Amazon Sidewalk program that is a shared network that can help you set up the device quicker, help you find lost items and more. It's free but you can choose if you want to opt into the program or not. We chose not to. You can also set up this Echo 5 to be kid friendly as well, which means it will only show kid appropriate content on the screen and disable some functions.Overall a nice addition or upgrade to the Amazon Echo Show ecosystem, whether you are a big fan and deep into smart operation of products/lights/switches etc, or if this is your first Amazon Echo product with a screen. You won't be disappointed.

This looks attractive but when playing videos, this version of Echo shrinks the video with black bars on every edge, so one can see the full video, but makes the viewing area smaller. Thankfully, it doesn't do this with pictures.On the plus side, the screen is clearer, and it's much faster than previous generations. Also the applications (Skills) seem to be updated. For example, opening Prime Video looks more similar to the TV app than on the 1st gen.Audio has more bass, so it overall sounds better.I was planning on making both Echos a 'Stereo Pair' but one cannot pair a 1st gen with a 3rd gen. Perhaps because they don't quite sound the same, but disappointing regardless.Talking about sound, the previous generation has a 3.5mm audio output but this one does not. It does however support pairing Bluetooth speakers.To power the Echo, it comes with its own power brick which connects using a barrel connector recessed into the back of the Echo, so unfortunately it does not use standard USB-C ports to power it. To make it worse, our Back Echo 5 came with a white power cable, which looks quite odd.Overall, the screen makes for a much better Alexa experience and can also be used to display compatible cameras and make alexa-to-alexa video calls, it's touchscreen and many skills are just more convenient.
