I have owned this echo show since it came out and it still works amazing! It’s a main hub so you can connect all your smart home devices to it ! Also it displays FaceTime calls so you can drop in with permission to your friends and family ! Also works as a digital picture frame to display photos and video content! Ask Alexa anything. I really like my Echo Show. I have one in my kitchen and my office. I use it mostly to play music throughout the house. It is also really useful as a digital assistant. As I think of things, I can have Alexa add it to a list or remind me. When she reminds me, she announces it and also sends a message to my iPhone. I use it as an alarm as well. When the alarm goes off, it turns on my bedroom lights and tells me the weather. I find the echo Show to be something I use daily.

You kind of just have to play around a little to learn tricks that enhances your experience. Another example is I named my nest thermostat "The heat" and so all I have to say is "Alexa, turn the heat to 70 degrees" and she instantly understands, it's really neat. I've noticed that some people will say "Alexa" and wait for her light to turn on before finishing the command, but you actually don't have to wait, you can just say "alexa" and instantly continue with the desired command without having to wait. This is very useful to know because you can quickly give commands making her more useful by giving her commands quickly on the go. It's especially useful if all of your lights are Wi-Fi based, as you're leaving the house you can just say "Alexa turn off all lights." It's truly fascinating and echo products have made our lives easier. We are truly spoiled by technology. I was worried the sound wouldn't be great because the specs list its speakers as not having a woofer like the original echo, but it sounds as if it does, the base is deep and sounds just as great as the echo! Was a bit worried that I would not be able to use the product in Sweden but I managed to find a way. Using HOTSPOT SHIELD (VPN Service). Downloaded the Alexa app onto my Samsung Galaxy S8 using Firefox (as chrome and samsung internet refused to install the app) while the VPN was active. My Echo show thinks that my location is in Seattle, I can live with that. It was easy to install. I use the drop in feature to check in on the family while I'm traveling. It is also great if you live in a large house and can place more than one echo show in it to call different rooms. Great ambient sounds and ither features. Great speakers. The camera is ok but not great. (Like a smartphone front facing camera). Stylish. Love the mini-tv look. It blends into our apartment. Controls my lights, Kevo door lock, Nest, D-link outlets, Ring Video Doorbell, on and on and on.Shows my pictures, gives me news, shows me live video at my front door, turns lights on and off, turns the AC to heat or cool mode, literally runs the entire house !I keep it in the kitchen to pull up recipes while I’m cooking. It's helped me get my life on track with it's ability to set alarms (to wake up to), reminder's (to do daily tasks) that I was slacking on, dates of appointments. I've also used it to be able to create playlist (to listen to while I work) without having to physically stop my iTunes playlist. The only bad thing I found was the choices on Amazon Music are VERY limited. And most of my songs were on Unlimited. It's also been able to read from my Kindle books. And one of the features I'm looking forward to is Mastermind when it debuts for Apple devices so it can relay my texts and respond back when I'm working and won't have to stop and look at the phone. I already have the second generation model in our kitchen but I wanted one for the bedside table to use as an alarm clock etc. The surprise is that this as new reconditioned (?) gen 1 is very cabable indeed. It does almost every thing the new one does. The sound is good: it is stereo (unlike the Show 5 which I was also considering), more than loud enough, and the bass is fine too. The screen is good, voice recognition is good, all around its perfect for the job at a very reasonable price. You can now easily access YouTube again, via the web. And I like the way Alexa says my name. Did I reveal too much haha?
