This is a beast of a chip. Picked it up to build a budget streaming rig with a 1660 Super card. but believe it or not this thing is way under-rated. It performs better than my old FX-6300 (3C/6T) processor. Lower TDP, and integrated graphics are more than enough for majority of desktop users. Will even be suitable for light gaming (nothing too intense) . To do this, highly recommend 3000mhz and faster ram. Dual Channel (2 sticks) and atleast 16GB ram. The processor chip has one part number on it that you may not can figure out because what is on the boxed processor box label gives no clue and if you don't have the box in your hand you can't read the number from the processor chip. The MB manufacturer will only give the number that is on the chip not a boxed number as well as places to purchase MBs. Such as the case here is a RYZEN 3, gen 2, PICASSO is what I needed but I didn't know until a lot of digging was done. The code name PICASSO was important but was not on the box or chip and caused problems with compatibility because there are other RYZEN 3 gen 2 ... Used this processor to replace a 220GE. Was extremely easy to fit and provides a noticeable step up in performance. On the plus side it provide the onboard graphics, which demonstrates a performance comparable to a low-end graphics card (e.g. GT 1030 is only slightly better). I do not recall any blue screens in Windows (BOD) or any particular lagging during use. On a price for power basis this CPU seems good value, especially for general office use and as a starter chip. However, when compared to the Ryzen 5 2600 it seems a little slow. So if you are planning a separate graphics card think about the 3600 or 2600. If you want the onboard graphics, this is a great little processor.

The chip easily runs at 4 ghz a core automatically and the graphics built into it I set to run up to 1250 mhz (stock speed is 200 mhz) but if you wanted to you can get it to run at 1700 mhz. Easily runs Windows 10 and doing stuff like web browsing and office software. I haven't tried to do any 3d gaming but from what I understand for it being the base model second generation CPU with built in graphics it can easily rival a $200 video card and crushes an Intel CPU with built in video graphics. Also do not get memory that's faster than 3200 mhz or it will not run correctly. My game plan is to use this with a top end x570 motherboard so I have lots of options later for upgrading it. Maybe in a year or two AMD will have an even faster CPU with built in graphics or I can pick up an expensive video card and non graphic CPU if I get into gaming again. This CPU allows me to do that. It's cousin which basically adds multithreading is not really worth paying twice the cost for. It still performs basically the same benchmarking a single core and is about 50% faster when both are running on all cores. This unit runs Windows 10 totally smooth but be sure to get at least 16 GB of memory with it (at 3200 mhz no faster). Great CPU which avoids having to get a separate GPU. If you're not a gamer this unit is perfect and still gives you the ability to upgrade it later if you desire.

I overclocked the cpu to 3.8ghz and the gpu to 1700mhz (1250 is stock).Installed Xbox gamepass app and tested it out. It runs most of the newer games at 1080p on medium to ultra settings at 60fps (resident evil 2 and 7, Grounded, Dead by daylight). For instance: $500 hp desktop has a ryzen 3 3200u.... that’s a 15 watt dual core laptop processor with only 3 gpu cores.. this one is a quad core 65 watt chip with 8 gpu cores. Big difference in performance.Plus that pc has 8gb of super slow ram which 2gb of it is used as video ram for the gpu leaving you with only 6 and the system allocates 3.5 for Windows leaving you with 2.5... plus it 2400mhz (slow). Not a recipe for a good experience.If you step up to the $800 Lenovo with an i7 and 12gb ram (again, slow ram), they put a SPINNING Hard drive in it!!! Talk about killing your performance and causing minute long boot times. A good 256gb ssd is $20!Anyways, this little Apu is the cheapest entry chip in the Ryzen gaming lineup and it’s performance is actually really great. It’s integrated gpu is twice as powerful as the uhd 630 gpu that in all of intels chips (even the $300-$500 i7s or i9s). If you’re just using it for basic computing or even 1080p gaming, the $400 pc I built mops the floor with most of the pcs on here for $1000 or less.
I absolutely recommend this cpu. With the stock cooling solution, in a case with good airflow, it manage to stay < 75C in a 30 minute stress test @4.2Ghz 1.4v. I recon that my computer sounded like an airplane and I recommend a better cooling solution but if you keep stock settings or the stock OC settings, the stock cooler is fine. Also, I got the iGPU @1700Mhz 1.3v with dedicated 2Gb of ram. I average over 110 FPS in Max settings in League of Legends. I didnt test any other esports games yet but I believe itll do as good in games like CS:GO, Dota 2 and SC2. PS: Do yourself a favor, get 16Gb of Ram @3000CL15 or @3200CL16 and a > 480Gb SSD hard drive for Windows and your games. Itll make a huge difference, make everything snappy and still be nice on your budget.
I was a bit disappointed although it does work with a BIOS upgrade on my ASUS Rog Strix motherboard.. another build with an older Ryzen 3 1200 with a cheap GT-710 graphics card ran 10 Celsius degrees cooler, had almost no dropped frames running YouTube at 1080p whereas the Ryzen 3200G with no graphics card showed about tenth of a percent or slightly more dropped frames. Used different versions of Chromium on two different OSes: the faster system had the older Ryzen 1200 CPU running Windows 10, the slower 3200G system was running Chromium on Linux Mint 19.2. Both systems were running 16GB RAM. I know this is apples to oranges, but I had expected more from the Linux build with the newer CPU. You will have to do a BIOS upgrade on some motherboards (such as the B450) to ...
