The productivity side does lack compared to the base 9000 series and the 14th intel and 15th, and the price is a little expensive for a lil silicon slab ($669 CAD + tax shipping = around $755 CAD).but (BIG BUT),This chip absolutely blows everything out of the water when it comes to gaming performance, there is about 8 - 15% average performance increase from its predecessor which was ALREADY KILLER CPU WITHOUT A COMPETITOR.Currently the only argument between this chip and the 7800x3d is just the availability, there are more 7800x3ds out there for purchase but the price is base $800 CAD, and if you were lucky enough to snag an 9800x3d for msrp, you will never get that same price anywhere again (unless amd somehow pumps this chip out). The thermals are way ... MoreThe productivity side does lack compared to the base 9000 series and the 14th intel and 15th, and the price is a little expensive for a lil silicon slab ($669 CAD + tax shipping = around $755 CAD).but (BIG BUT),This chip absolutely blows everything out of the water when it comes to gaming performance, there is about 8 - 15% average performance increase from its predecessor which was ALREADY KILLER CPU WITHOUT A COMPETITOR.Currently the only argument between this chip and the 7800x3d is just the availability, there are more 7800x3ds out there for purchase but the price is base $800 CAD, and if you were lucky enough to snag an 9800x3d for msrp, you will never get that same price anywhere again (unless amd somehow pumps this chip out). The thermals are way better after its architecture change, it does draw more power though, this allow us for a higher clock in games without throttle, and not to mention, the performance average difference between the new intel chip is a joke.IMO currently there is no GPU that can max out this chip right now, we might see even more performance gaps when the new RTX 50 series come out.

I bought this at launch and I have to say it’s really unlocked my GPU which up until recently was CPU bottlenecked on most of the games I played, it lived up to the hype. I would say if you have the 7800X3D, stick with that as the gains between the two aren’t massive but I was shifting from an old Ryzen 9 5900x which was still punching above its weight but certainly holding me back in some areas. Scan customer support and communication was second to none. Always a pleasure buying from Scan!

I upgraded from a 3700x as I was getting some choppy low minimum frames at times, also CPU heavy titles were chugging every now and then. THis has made everything much smoother all around even at 4k.Most reviewers will say at 4k this CPU makes no difference, not true... in games like factorio, cities skylines, civ 6 etc you can feel the difference massively. When playing games I haven't yet gone above 63c using an air cooler. fast and cool (unlike me)

Upgraded from 5800x3d paired with a 6900xt and my main genre is flight simulators. Obviously I was CPU limited heavily (especially in airliners), but this CPU.. wow.. Smashing it! Plenty of side apps alongside the sim, TLOD increased, still not lagging.

Overlockers Uk delivering the goods on time. The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is something else! It is the undisputed king of gaming, and it does so while sipping power, and remaining cool.It doesn't get any better than this!
I decided to build a newer AMD rig to replace my 5800x machine. I've been intrigued by the x3d series processors from AMD for a while now and decided to take the plunge.I'm running an rtx 4070 ti and was not expecting a huge difference at 1440p in gaming. I was wrong. It is much faster than my old machine using the same video card and the same amount of ram. Games that were borderline unplayable with ray tracing effects are much smoother with higher frame rates. Star citizen went from a slideshow in the major cities to very smooth. This processor is amazing. B&H sent me the processor quickly and it was packaged well. Definitely recommend.
In certain benchmarks this new cpu can be quite a uptick from past x3d chips. It’s officially the best gaming cpu on the market. Might not be worth it much compared to the recent price drop on the 9900x but if you want the best theres a premium.
Ive been on intel since 9900K and have always been a fan of them. Even through the ups and downs of Raptor Lake I stayed committed. I was looking forward to the new Arrow Lake cpus but when the reviews came out I was disappointed, to say the least. This 9800X3D is nothing short of amazing. Sacrifice a small amount of work performance for some of the best gaming performance I've ever seen! If you are like me and find yourself torn then please make the jump to AMD. You will not regret it.
I saw the reviews, and mentioned it to my wife. She, being the best wife ever gave me this as a Christmas gift along with some other PC parts for a new build. I can't believe how fast it is. I didn't expect this much performance improvement since I'm coming from a x570 5800x. If you want the best, and want to be future proof, get this. No one will be disappointed!
