The AMS bow reel is great and its tons of fun using it to go bowfishing. It has brought in some pretty big carp and has never failed or tangled up. I would recommend this product to anyone interested in bowfishing. I tried several other methods of bowfishing before I bought this and will never turn back! You wont be dissapointed.

Easy to setup and use. I put it on a Fred Bear Take-down recurve with 35 pound limbs. I went out two days ago and I'm still sore. I bet I pulled my bow over 200 times. After missing a lot, I started shooting lower and BAM! Slayed the talapia! There were 5 of us bow fishing on 2 boats. All of us had the same product on different bows. None of us had any malfuntions. One guy did have his string break on the shot. He missed the fish and had to dive in to retrieve his arrow. His rig was 4 years old and he never replaced his string. I was so impressed with the ease of operation and how well it did on my recurve. That recurve is great for snap shots and the reel held up to every pull. I highly recommend this product.

This product works flawlessly. I've never had a tangle or snag. I've thrown it in the bottom of the boat in the heat of the moment and it is rugged enough to keep on ticking. Couldn't ask for a better quality or trouble free product.

This thing makes a spool look like something from the stone age. Works perfect. I wouldn't use anything else for bowfishing. No tangles in the line, no worries about snagging my line when I shoot- anyone who has used a spool much knows what I mean. Everyone I bowfish with uses one now- although some of us have their older model which works just as well. Retrieves arrows great, but don't expect to reel your fish in with it- that's not the function. You still have to pull in the fish, but without the worry of tangling afterward.
This my second time buying one of these setups. I’ve never had a problem with either one.
The design of this is lacking i bought it 2 weeks ago and finally got to use it. it works fine on smaller under 15lb fish but anything bigger snags and snatches the bow randomly. all you really need is a drum set. but academy was great and allowed me to return it and by the drum with money left for the lazer arrows.( awesome for fishing)
I'm a big fan of the AMS bowfishing reels. I have used the regular model and now the pro model. The pro model has the arrow holder which can be useful when you might lay your bow down and move the boat to different positions. Or when walking to different positions. The reel itself is a simple design which is very safe. As long as I do not put the string behind the arrow rest and place the string onto the notch on the front of the bottle; the string feeds perfectly and safely. Why fix what isn't broken? The bottle is flexible and seems to be built well enough to sustain most wear and tear. If broken you can purchase a new bottle. The string material is also easily replacable. This reel is perfect for carp.
this is the best reel for bowfishing hands down. i have tried all the other reels and have found this one to be the best ....last longer flys strighter....and you do not have to ever push a button i have six bowfishing bows and one of these reel on each
Didnt realize until after we got the product home that the stop on the arriw was missing. Must jave bromen off in store. It was the last ob the shelf so i am thinking maybe someone put it in the wro g place bc it was damaged. We luve an hour from the store so had to biy an new arrow locally wich wad an additional expense. Otherwise a fair to good product.
I have been using this bowfishing reel on my bow for about 6 months now and it is great. if you want to get serious about bowfishing you need to buy this. I am about to buy another for my second bowfishing set up. it is the best out there! by the way i just shot a 5 foot gar the other day and this reel worked great!
