This thing is honestly the nicest clippers I’ve ever had. It’s extremely quiet compared to most other clippers I’ve had, and it seems to have really good power. The blade is easily replaceable so if the included 10 blade isn’t the right one, you’re able to switch it out. This one is from Petsmart, not Walmart, it retails for roughly 180, but honestly it’s great. The cord is really thick, and durable feeling and LONG! The clippers have a hook on them to hang them for easy use, and the on and off switch has a really convenient locking feature to ensure it doesn’t slip and shut off mid use! Overall, wonderful grooming tool in my honest opinion, I’ll never settle for a cheaper one again after having this.

Get yourself at least 2 ceramic blades sets for a longer run time by alternating between them and place the hot one on a piece of tile for quick cooling. Be sure to keep blades well oile. It's a little bit of work on our goldendoodle with tight curls but 3 other trimmers would not work at all. Overall we are pleased with the purchase.

I have used these clippers for years, as a professional groomer. Yes the clippers heat up but that is completely normal. You have to switch your blades out when they heat up, so always have a extra blade, if you don’t have time to stop every few minutes to let everything cool down. Helpful is to keep a little tile next to you and you take the blade off when you lay it down on the tile to help it cool down quicker. Great clippers, I would definitely buy them over and over again. I’ve either this or the blue pair for the last 15 years.

Disappointed
16 April 2022

I used these clippers for the first time yesterday on my 70 pound doodle. I was so excited about these when they were delivered and knew I had to try them out asap. While grooming my dog, I struggled using these clippers. They kept getting caught in his fur, made his groom look very choppy and uneven. They were already hot right off the bat of using them (were supposed to stay cool per description on the box.) and extremely heavy. They are awkward to use due to the weight of the clippers and the on off switch is very hard to slide to on and off. Overall, I am very disappointed in these clippers. I did a lot of research and spent money on these because I read how durable they are and how they are great for a poodle/doodle with thick curly fur. The box said heavy duty and they just did not do their part. I had to switch to a different pair of clippers I bought specifically for the paws, belly, and face, to groom my doodle.I have had Andis clippers before and they did pretty well on my dogs. I bought these to replace the other ones because they are old and not working well anymore.Sadly, I do not recommend these clippers. Maybe mine were a defected set.

Excellent clippers
21 October 2024

I was so happy with the performance of these clippers. They trim through matted hair so easily like butter! My dogs are calm when I use it too because it is quiet; and because it cuts through so easily, it's fast! It lasted me a good 4 to 5 years before it started going bad. Unfortunately, I owe that to my lack of caring for it, i.e. oiling it, cleaning it, etc, but even with that, it lasted a pretty long time and that's with regularly grooming 4 Shihtzus! I would rebuy them and recommend to others. This time I'll use a cooling spray before use and oil them appropriately to extend its life.

I have an 8yo goldendoodle that I like to keep trimmed very short 9 months of the year (we are in Ohio, so she does need that thick coat during the winter months). I've been very lucky in that I have a friend who used to groom professionally who shaves her for me, for very low cost; but our schedules haven't been able to sync up for some time. She had also taken the time to actually teach me how to properly clip my dog - this is super important!!! I have done a ton of research, and talked with my friend, and decided to try these clippers. They come with a 10 blade, which will take your dog's hair down to skin. I don't like that look, so also ordered a 7 blade, which is what my dog normally has. My doodle doesn't shed, and has a VERY thick coat - think like a sheep ... MoreI have an 8yo goldendoodle that I like to keep trimmed very short 9 months of the year (we are in Ohio, so she does need that thick coat during the winter months). My doodle doesn't shed, and has a VERY thick coat - think like a sheep or goat! She hadn't been clipped in 4 months, and so I was a little nervous about how these would hold up. I was VERY pleasantly surprised! I had read some comments about the clippers heating up, so also bought cooling spray - it's a good thing I did. Because I had to get through some seriously thick coat, I had the clippers on their high speed, and the blade was pretty hot at times. I sprayed the cooling spray, which is also a lubricant, quite frequently and all was fine. My doodle's coat, though thick, has always come off well when clipped, and these cut her hair through like butter. She did have a few areas where the hair had small matts, and that is where I used the 10 blade. I took my time clipping, giving us both frequent breaks, but the whole thing took just over an hour (breaks included). Now that I have my own clippers, I will be able to clip my girl whenever needed, so I anticipate the next clip not taking nearly so long, nor the blades getting as hot. I would absolutely recommend these to anyone, but would recommend you get additional blades, as well as cooling spray.

Heavy Duty Clipper
10 July 2023

After using various cheap clippers for my Pomeranian, I bought this Andis clipper as an upgrade. A friend recommended the brand after many years of using an Andis clipper.Where this clipper is an improvement is mostly in the blades. It cuts through the thick fur easily. The blade does get hot, but that seems common to me.The Andis clipper feels heavier, that's not necessarily a bad thing. The switch slides easily.I found that blades are easily found and affordable with a little searching around.I chose this model because of the motor and the two speeds. On high speed this clipper makes quick work of clipping. It doesn't bog down at all.I am impressed with this clipper and wish I would have known to purchase one earlier. So far so good and hope it lasts

I used it twice. So far so good. Only thing is that I hope it lasts. That's usually the thing that clipper doesn't last long.I bought this clipper to mainly use to take care of my aussiedoodle matted hair. However, it doesn't take the matted hair as easily as I thought. This clipper didn't not perform well on neck, head and armpits areas. I needed to use a pair of scissor to assist, which is not recommended.I would like to say if the hair has no matt/knots, it goes through like butter. I guess all clippers do!This is definitely a heavy clipper. I wish it has a slimmer body that I can hold it better. The round smooth body does slip off easy sometime, especially I have smaller hands. The blade does get hot very fast! I had to pause a lot during the shaving! The ... MoreI used it twice. It does cut dog skin accidentally, even though everyone says #10 is the most safe blade to use. I still had to be careful instead of shaving my dog freely.I think a guard will be my next purchase to see that will provide better protections on dog skin.

Tried and True
7 July 2024

I’ve had Andis AGC 2-speed clippers for nearly 20 years. They are a work horse! But I decided to replace them and “upgraded” to the Andis UltraEdge, also 2 speed clippers, but the speed is a bit higher. Unfortunately, the on/off/speed toggle stuck, so they were difficult to turn off. Chewy was great and made it easy to exchange them for the AGC 2 speed. They’re just as good as my original clippers. Hope they last 20 years as well.

i have two to shave
23 September 2021

One goldendoodle and one pekepoo. The doodle's hair grows super fast. Lucky me, right? She hates any form of grooming, brushing, bathing, shaving. She has since she was a pup. So that's been a major challenge for us. We've worked her up to "tolerating" instead of "hating". Still, imagine my nightmare when trying out clippers and needing something reliable to get the job done quickly and professionally but finding them difficult to use, leaving a choppy cut, not having the power needed, and a cord that's way too short. So far, I have done several cuts on each. Pekepoo hair is fine but thinner so quicker to cut but does get stuck in the blades. I do have to cut in divided sections minutes apart, maybe 5 or 6 different areas total, to allow cooldown time for the clippers because they do heat up pretty fast. I clean and oil after each time. So far they respond well to just this basic care. And popping off the tip for cleaning is so quick and easy! A little pain to get to the hair between the blades but they do shift one side to the other. The extra long cord is also very convenient. Not quiet, not low vibration. Heavy.
