it's not really monopoly in most ways. it's a board game that's similar in shape, but there is almost no strategy involved, other than selling resources on a turn to turn basis. having all of one color property means nothing, so the term monopoly loses it's meaning right away. but it's a fun game of chance for a family or a group of people who enjoy animal crossing. it is almost entirely luck of the dice roll and who goes first, so if you like that kind of game and arent familiar with animal crossing, I would just go with some other game of chance like uno or sorry or something. if you want actual monopoly, look for something else

A bit confusing!

So my 9 year old daughter was super excited for this Animal Crossing game to come out, be I was a bit intimidated because I never played the game like she has. 1st off it comes with a few cardboard sheets of pop out token type things, which I recommend having a ziplock bag ready to store them in. Then there's 4 characters, some cards, and dice. There's still a " Go to Jail" spot which is kind of funny. Each player has to make it around the board once before collecting the 1st skill card as I understand it....but again I could be totally wrong, because when reading the instructions, I got super confused. Fun and easy to play

Tried out the Monopoly Animal Crossing New Horizons game board. It was easy to setup with my 8 year old grand daughter. The game was easy to play and to understand the rules. We liked the game pieces(characters). They are light and easy to move around while playing the game. The board game feels very well made. We liked the board game features like the shopping for nooks and nanny as we pass go and discovering the islands. We really enjoyed playing this game and will continue to play over and over again. Overall, a great, fun, easy game for kids to play and understand.

Great for Animal Crossing lovers of all ages!

Super fun and adorable, simple enough for smaller kids, still quite enjoyable for teens and adults, and without the long game play that sometimes precludes our family from playing the “real” Monopoly game. We love the Animal Crossing New Horizons game on Switch, and we find that this game cleverly imitates the original. Two things I’d love to see improve: (1) Devise better storage for all the tiny pieces, as separating them to set up the board becomes tedious; and (2) Need to include more bell, bell bag, and character tokens with the game because we have run out during play and had to get creative with IOUs from the bank and other objects to signify who discovered an island. I intend to write to Hasbro to see if they can remedy both issues. Lots of set up, but very worth it!

This game comes with a lot of pieces that require serious set up. After about 25-30 minutes of setting things up (putting stickers on a dice, popping out fossil pieces, bell pieces, and so much more) we got started. We had to reread the instructions a few times, as we misunderstood some rules initially. Once we got the hang of it, we were obsessed. I'm an ACNH player myself, but my boyfriend is not. We both had fun with this very different and new take on Monopoly. Finishes a game takes wayyyy less time than traditional Monopoly! I recommend grabbing little baggies that you can place similar individual pieces in, to keep organized and prevent losing something.

Low quality and not a monopoly

the game was made poorly, even down to the box that tore when we tried to take the sticker off. I wish the bells were paper and something a little nicer quality. And simple thi g like why didn't you print a dice rather then giving us a blank one and putting stickers on it. For game lovers you will be annoyed by the low quality. The game play is fine but its not monopoly, they should have just made there own game and not try and force it into a monopoly. going to jail makes no sense in animal crossing. there is no property buying or trading or much monopoly like play.

No point to game, slow paced, bored kids.

I bought this for my 7 yr. old granddaughter. Way too complicated, too many small cardboard tokens that ended up all over the place. What a mess! One dice meant the game went along at a snail's pace. No strategy to game at all. Ran out of "money" because you don't have to really pay for anything like rent or hotels, etc. Socialism at its best. We ended up adding dice to speed up the game, donating money to the bank and using the resource chips as credits as a substitute for money. No point to game and my granddaughter didn't like it either. She got bored after a while.

Not quite Monopoly

I chose this because I am a lifelong Monopoly fan and my daughter loves Animal Crossing. I guess I didn't read the box close enough because it's a real stretch calling this Monopoly. You don't buy properties or houses, you have no paper money, and the objective is completely different. That being said, after the very annoying long set up time (lots of punching pieces out of cardboard) it was the perfect game for my 7 year old. She quickly picked up on the rules and has made me play with her at least 3 times a day since we got it. A game can go very quickly so it keeps her attention and it's pretty fun to play as an adult so I don't mind the endless games! If you have an Animal Crossing fan in your house this is a great game. Not the best Monopoly game

I was excited to play after receiving the Monopoly Animal Crossing game. After set up I didn't want to play anymore. There are alot of small cardboard pieces that you pop out for set up. You have to place them all in front of the islands. This makes it hard when trying to move your player around the board. Things just falling over. Getting mixed up. You have to really read the directions to figure out who discovered the island and how many things to pick up if you land on yours or someone else's island. The players are cute. It just takes to much time and can get all mixed up to even play.

They forgot to add fun

The makers of this game were so focused on including animal crossing mechanics they forgot to make the game fun. Setting up the game takes 15-20 minutes because you have to sort the tokens for each resource AND each colour. Then, when you play the game it's so convoluted it feels like a real slog to play. You catch fish/bugs/fossils and then sell them to get bells, and then use bells to buy items, which gives you nook miles, and when someone has 7 items, the game ends and the person with most miles wins. I really regret purchasing this.
