Like other reviewers, I placed the tablets in the gravel (fewer than recommended), and the water was cloudy the next day - a dark brownish-green color. I've read that it is non-toxic to the fish, so maybe it's OK.After about 4 or 5 days, the water color is just about back to normal, although it was very scary to see how nasty it looked.It's too early to tell whether or not the plants are doing better than before.

I was planting supplement free for a long time and yielding mixed results. After a fellow aquarist turned my attention to these, I added them to my substrate and noticed immense improvement immediately. With the use of this, and a small weekly dosage of FloraPride, my plants rival those in magazines. I would recommend these to anybody considering any live plants that need planted roots. A+

I read the directions but instead of doing them. I took one tab and stuck it by each plant I had instead of doing what the directions said. It seemed to work really good I didn't end up with green water I didn't end up with anything happening to my water and in the plants really did good on it. I would buy it again.

Easy instructions to install the tablets, especially the ease of math calculations for size of tank floor vs tablet size. They are creating happy healthy plants, to soon house a happy healthy Betta.
I recently added a couple of API root tabs to my 10G tank, which has a few live plants. The manufacturer recommends 6 tabs for a 10G, however, I don't have enough plants to utilize that many tabs. I have a handful of Crypt plants and a decent sized Amazon Sword. The substrate in my tank is cheapie gravel, and I placed the tab as far down as I could in the substrate, as it is only about 1.5" deep. Within hours, my tank turned from crystal clear to a hazy mess. The next couple of days, it looked like my fish were swimming in watery milk with a slight yellow haze. Multiple water changes and nearly two weeks later, there's still a slight haze to the water. The plants are showing visible growth, but I'll be throwing the remaining 8 tabs away because I'd rather find a ... This product has drastically improved the growth and health of my aquarium plants. They have grown much faster and look healthier since I started using root tabs about 4 months ago. I do not use the full recommended dosage and they are still doing great. A must for all planned aquariums.
I am excited to use this product again to help reestablish my aquarium. Especially since the fish I chose to start move rocks around. Helping to give the plants a strong root system anchors them down plus encourages the bio cycle to occur making a more natural healthier environment.
I purchased the API root tabs for my new tank to help get the newbie plants established. I had not used the API product before, so I followed the directions on the box which call for 1 tablet per 30 square inches of gravel surface. I sunk 6 tablets under the gravel at the base of my plants (I have a 20 gal. tank) and within 3 hours the water went from crystal clear to murky brown. I couldn't even see the back of the tank. It hasn't changed my water chemistry and the fish seem to be fine but my beautiful tank is disgusting. I also tried to do a 25% water change, which helped a little, but not enough to my satisfaction. I would not recommend these tablets.
my some plants not grow well and purchased root tabs. now plant growth is good, but water sometime cloudy when you clean part where you put tab in subtracts. you have to careful and remember where you put those tabs. I am planing insert tabs on same places so that areas I can remember easily. Great for my potted plants as well. its boost leafs wide and hard withing 3 to 5 days.
