The ingredients in this food are excellent when compared with all supermarket brands that I have come across. The food is excellent value too. My cats enjoyed this and I would now never even consider any supermarket brands because of the quality and value offered in this product. I feed my cats Acana and Orijen dry food in alternation with this food to give them variety and would highly recommend that you look at these too if you are concerned about giving your cats variation and are looking at other premium quality brands for your pets.

My cat went through an awful stage of non-stop runs. It was extremely liquid and as my cat is a long haired Maine Coon, you can imagine the mess... and the smell was indescribable. After trying many other foods I finally found Applaws. Within 3 days, normal stools and we have never had a problem since. Applaws contains no grains and no useless carbs. It is 80% meat/fish and this is of a quality that would be used for human consumption. Another bonus is that because there is no crap in it, you will feed (much) less of it to your cats, so it's economical too. Applaws has also given my cat a beautiful rippling coat, although the one thing that would make it even better would be the inclusion of something that would actually remove hairballs.

Last year I bought Applaws dry cat food in chicken and duck flavour which my cat absolutely loved. I then ordered a bag of this food in chicken flavour, and another in chicken and salmon flavour. Since feeding my cat these 2 new flavours he's gone from being a healthy and happy indoor cat to pulling his fur out in large clumps. I took him to the vet and they suggested a change in diet might be causing the problem. It suddenly clicked with me that this Applaws food was causing his skin problems. After doing some research and reading reviews on here, I saw other people were experiencing the same thing. I can only assume the food is faulty or contaminated somehow. Our 3yr old tabby cat loves a mix of this and Orijen dry food in the morning and a high quality wet food in the evening (e.g. Applaws or other good quality high protein brand). She has no underlying health issues, has a lovely shiny coat and is full of energy. The swap from Science Diet to Applaws was easy, We did 50/50 mix for 2 days and then 100% Applaws and we've never looked back! Cat seems much happier and more energetic since the swap.

I have fed Applaws since 2013 when my cats werekittens. Switched to adult with no problems +have fed Applaws chicken since. About 1 year ago, look + smell of kibble changed + cats went off the chicken one but still scoff down chicken + salmon (hence the 2nd star). Projectile vomiting is common with pure chicken and non-existant with chicken + salmon. They HATE the rice in the Applaws wet food. Change in recipe obvious. Too bad.

I have three neutered lads and all have wet and dry food. Their usual hairball control kibbles don't seem to be available any more, so I thought they could try this. They have all eaten some and one has been fine. The other two - who have good appetites - have eaten theirs and then projectile vomited, bringing up their wet food as well as the kibble biscuits. They are not ill as such - they are hungry and crying for food after vomiting ......

I have done some research on cat food, and this really is up there among the best. In the long term, it is very important to give our furry friends the best quality food with the least fillers. Vets only receive very basic training on nutrition, so don't always assume your vet is recommending the best product for your cat.Generally speaking, with pet food you get what you pay for.Always best to introduce your cat gradually to a different food type, add very small amounts daily to his usual food and gradually increase the new product and reduce the old. Sounds like common sense but many people don't even think about doing this. Applaws Dry Cat Food

The food consists of dark brown kibbles about 8-9mm in diameter and 4mm thick - similar in size to an aspirin tablet. I chose Applaws because of the zero cereal and high meat content. The 400g size was ideal to test the food with my cat - the next size up is around 20 per bag and too much to spend if my cat won't eat it. However the cat seems to eat it ok - though I've not tried it myself. It is an expensive cat food, but I suppose you get what you pay for. I will probably switch over to Applaws as soon as the previous food runs out, but I don't want my cat to just eat one type of food so I'll look round for another similar product which she will eat as well. I've given 5 stars based on the food content. You really need to decide on the value for yourself.

Not the cheapest, but get what you pay for..

The Vet recommend a high protein food as Olive refuses meat and fish of any description, isn't a hunter, only sticks and leaves... She prefers the fish to the chicken but eats both. I didn't realise until I started investigating the difference between foods, and yes you get what you pay for
