I’m a fan of Apple products. Most of my electronics devices come from Apple. I also bought Apple accessories like charger that are longer than regular that originally come together with the device. I like this cable charger. It provide a quick charge, good quality too. However, the cable tend to tear apart after a few months of heavy used. One time, I bought a spare cable that sold at Amazon. After a few day, I saw smoke come from my charger. Thank God, I was able to disconnect the cable and my phone. If I wasn’t fast enough, my house could burn down to ground. I was scared. Since that accident, I’m only buy Apple accessories also buy cable protectors which make it last longer than usuals.

Apple continues to create cables that conform to the Lightning standard despite Universal Serial Bus Generation 4 Type-C defeating it in every possible way. For instance, the maximum speed that Lightning is able to transfer information at is 3662.11 mebibits per second, whereas for USB4 Version 2, it is 76293.9 mebibits per second. Additionally, Lightning is able to provide a maximum of approximately 27 watts. USB4 is able to provide 240 watts. The actual cable is equally as abysmal comparative to its competitors, because its connector is not plated with gold or silver to prevent oxidation, nor is its cable SFTP shielded to prevent interference, nor is its cable braided to prevent breakage. If you are sitting in your bed with your device plugged into the wall besides you, it would be helpful if this cord was about two feet longer. My closest outlet would require it to be four feet long. While I am in my vehicle, three feet three inches is sufficient. The connector the part that fits into your device is clearly marked V7 to indicate which side goes into your device so you dont continuously try to each side trying to push the wrong side in. On my non marked cables, I have put a red dot on the end of the connector.

These are proving to be both compatible See note, reliable and sturdy. The whole lead from end to end has a nylon braiding which both give the wire extra protection and a softer feel. The two tone colour gives them a neutral look. The USB plug also has the USB insignia printed on its top and as this plug isnt reversible, it aids aligning the plug in the right orientation before insertion That is assuming your devices sockets, are the right way up.NoteThe only negative I have is that on some Apple devices My older, iPad Air and iPhone 6 Plus I have to enter my pin before charging will commence This is strange as my later Apple gear such as iPhone X, work straight away, just by plugging them in. I can only assume Apple dont like you using another make of lead

I'm not sure how many of these I've purchased over the last decade. Most I give away to friends who lose or wear-out their cables. I tend to take care of them, coiling them and putting them in a ziplock in my travel bag, so for me they last indefinitely.Once they break, I can usually fix them once, soldering the conductors and finishing with two layers of heat shrink...some of those become my favourite cables as they never break again, and are now color-coded! Still, I'm not sure that's a ringing endorsement for the original quality, given their cost. There is an IC chip in the Lightning end of the cable, which causes the connector on that end to warm-up. Given this heat and the small mass of the connector, it eventually breaks. You can help prevent this but not leaving your devices plugged-in longer than needed to charge or transfer images, etc. Coil the cable up. Don't sit on it. It's a cable...they will wear out over time. I just wish the OEM version was a little less expensive. The mass production of these over the last decade still has not lead to the normal 'bathtub curve' of cost reduction, as with most mature products. Also, I've used several after-market cables which are just as reliable, although I like the rubberized outer jacket of this cable, as it just seems to want to coil itself.Generally, I recommend friends buy at least a couple of OEM Apple cables, perhaps one 3' (1m) and one 6' (2m).

Great but also not so great

This item actually works super great - no issues. I like buying the longer length and it is sturdy upon receipt. The reason I only give it a 3 is because I have to buy a new one about every 6 months as for no reason, the cord by the part that is plugged into my iPad will start to fray. This has happened 3 times. I am very aware to not have the cord bend if I'm using the iPad while it's recharging but it still happens and I'm unsure why. It's an expensive cord to have to repurchase every 6 months and I'd expect better quality from Apple. I don't like buying cords made by other companies and prefer to only buy Apple cords for Apple products so I'm sort of stuck with this cycle of having to repurchase twice per year but as mentioned, the cord itself works great for ... MoreThis item actually works super great - no issues. You will need a USB type C wall (or car) adapter of 18W. My choice for the USB C wall adapter was also the Apple 18 watt version. According to my memory, it works for all iPhone models starting with the 6s. My iPhone SE (2nd generation) is equipped with it. As with all my reviews, I really hope this helps. Cheers!"It's worth the money. Works perfectly with the iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2 we have in the house. It's short enough to avoid clutter while being long enough to let us place the devices comfortably on the counter as they charge. Purchased to replace the included charging cable for an iPhone 7 Plus purchased in fall of 2018, which physically deteriorated after 3+ years of charging use. It doesn't seem to work quite as well as the cable it replaced. It charges as expected when connected, but I've found that the Lightning end is prone to connectivity issues and it typically means that I have to plug it in, set the phone down, double-check to make sure it is still charging, and then not touch it. I have had a few instances with this cable where it was initially verified as being connected and charging, but then coming back overnight or after a couple of hours expecting a full battery -- surprise! -- not connected and not charging. I understand it could be attributed to general wear and tear of the port on the phone and can't rule out that a similar issue with the original cable wasn't also happening as the wire deteriorated, but I'm also cognizant of the manufactured obsolescence of personal electronics where 2-3 years is the general lifespan where you are either replacing the device or the cabling. So it goes. I'd still rather purchase the Apple cable over a third-party version.

I have only bought bona fide Apple cables in the past. After years of snapping cables, I now exclusively purchase Native Union ultra strength lightning cables because they are designed with reinforced cable construction and strain relief. I have all three sizes 4 ft, 6ft and 10ft cables. I have them in Sage, Indigo, Zebra, Cosmos, Pink and Taupe. The XL (10ft) are used for specific locations as theyre especially useful at desks and other locations. Apple first introduced me to Native Union six years ago, after I returned three cables. My replacements were becoming costly and the Apple cables were not durable, easily snapping apart. Stops Working - Expensive Junk
10 April 2023

Stops Working. We have bought the cords time and time again. Each one breaks. Some don’t work immediately. Some work for a month. I’m exhausted mentally and financially from replacing Apple charging cords. You never know when it will work or when it will stop working forever. Do not buy unless you’re okay with buying a new one monthly and still possibly getting one that breaks immediately. You’ll be stranded somewhere without a way to charge your phone. We ALL need to file a report to make them refund us our monies and provide a product that works.
