The main thing is to ensure you're resting the laptop on a very flat surface! The M2 processor has no problems with general use (MS Office, web browsing, watching streaming content etc), and I'm pleased to say (with screen brightness set to 50%) in general use, a fully charged battery lasts the whole day without a problem. The hard drive / SSD seems to be in the left side of the palm rest (left of the trackpad) and you can feel it vibrating gently when in use. Not a complaint, just an observation. There are no active fans / cooling systems in the MacBook Air and some reviews mention it heating up (which impacts battery life). I've not run any games or content creation software on it yet, so not really taxed the processor too much, but I can say it's absolutely not heated to the touch at any point. The model with the 512GB SSD runs a faster drive than the 256GB SSD model, but using both side by side, the difference in speed was barely noticeable to me.I would absolutely recommend this laptop if you want a pretty to look at, but very functional and capable device with a long lasting battery life.

The FaceTime camera is much improved and essential for most apple users. It never seems any trouble to use anywhere just like a iPad. I literally leave it lying about the house. The keyboard is precise and has a nice action. The separate magnetic power supply is the best decision ever to go back to this feature especially around children, clumsy adults plus yes two USB-C ports and a headphone out which has excellent sound ... MoreI have been buying Macs since the late 90s and watched transition from a small market share to the company it is today. However it is also no slouch as I have been using with DJ music programs and professional sound cards. No issues at all. Like most apple products you just want to use them and enjoy or get a task done rather than obsessing over boring geeky PC specs which are mostly meaning less to most users. These new generation M1/2 processors are lighting fast with 512gb storage which is more than enough if you use cloud storage as well. If you intend to use for your more intensive tasks like video editing, graphics or professional music production. Then the MacBook 14 or 16 may be be a better choice. But this is also subjective as it depends on the end user. I have previously purchased the Pro versions and have mostly felt like could have saved my money.

I'll start by saying that everything seemed to work and it looks great. I'll also specify that my former MacBook is 9 years old, meaning that I may have missed some new features in the intervening versions. But some simple things were annoying--perhaps it's just me. I got the "midnight" color and it looks great; the problem is that the holes to plug in the power, the head phones, etc. are invisible excerpt in direct light, so I am tipping my computer on its side every time I have to change something. Worse than that is the planned obsolescence of whatever you need to plug in to it. All my UBS cables have nowhere to go, the result of which was that I had to get an intermediate plug-in device to allow me to use my printer. Worse than that is the planned obsolescence of whatever you need to plug in to it. All my UBS cables have nowhere to go, the result of which was that I had to get an intermediate plug-in device to allow me to use my printer. (Okay, maybe I could have bought a new cable, but I have other devices that I wanted to plug in, such as an Apple DVD player that has a USB cable.)Trying to use the aforementioned DVD player, I found it was obsolete, even if I plugged it into the USB-to-thunder converter that I bought. Apparently, I could reprogram some things on the Mac and get it to work, but this is beyond me. It's easier for me to use my old MacBook for DVDs.Storing documents was easy on my old Mac. The new one stuffs them into a mandatory file called OneDrive. I am still researching ways to spring them from this prison. And remember click and drag? That was a signature Apple feature for organizing docs and files. It is no more. After searching for the right technique, I found that you need to touch softly (not click) with 3 fingers to move a folder on your desktop, for instance. Why would Apple make such a major change? All in all, I am having a very difficult time making the transition to this new and strangely behaving computer.

Great Macbook
6 November 2022

When Apple first announced the M2 Macbook Air, I already knew I wanted it. I had the previous 2018 Macbook Air model and loved it. As a student who relies heavily on computer usage, I need long battery life and quick speeds to get by. After watching a couple reviews and seeing the initial price, however, I got skeptical. The price tag was above what I am normally confortable with (base 256g model starts at $1199) and I was told a couple times that the base storage model had much slower memory speeds. I wasn't willing to spend more on this product than the base model so I took a gamble. A couple months later and the thing works just like new. It's fast, reliable, charges quick (not to mention the charging cable is very nice) and is extremely portable. The screen resolution and size was a huge step up from what I was previously using. Using the base model, I have not yet experienced memory slow downs. The battery life is incredible and even though this laptop doesn't have an interior fan, it stays cool through most any task that you throw at it (I still wouldn't recommend gaming on it though). The keyboard feels good but is not much different than any other typical laptop keyboard. The trackpad, however, feels premium. It's big and makes almost no noise when clicking. The whole computer is the very definition of silence. The keys aren't too loud either. The UI is the same great Macbook experience we're all used to. I am able to run many programs at a time with no noticeable slow downs. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this product. If you have the M1 macbook air or pro, I'd probably stick with that because the amount of upgrades on this model probably wouldn't justify switching from a macbook that is only a couple years old. If you have an older laptop or one that might not be supported with the most recent updates, I'd deifinitely consider the M2 Macbook Air.

This replaced an aging 13" Macbook pro 2016. This thing has way better battery life. I love that they brought back magsafe instead of taking up one of the USB-C ports. The magnet on the charger is really strong so it holds on better than the old model and there was an extra usb-c port on the charging block. The Midnight color is so nice. The color options are better on this than the new pro models! The screen is great and this is so much thinner than my older Macbook but the screen is slightly larger. Touch ID to unlock the device or to enter passwords makes using this one so much nicer. I went with the 512GB because the last macbook only had 128GB and was always running out of storage. I have been using this for about a month and have not had any issues. If you are buying a lot of apple devices the Best Buy Total tech yearly membership is worth it. For 200 dollars a year they give free 2 year applecare coverage to your apple devices you purchase from them. If you buy the applecare coverage you know how much this will save on multiple devices. They also give 2 year coverage on other no-apple devices you purchase. Overall this is much better than the old macbook pro it replaced. I handed that down to my daughter because it is still a good laptop.

Lightweight, elegant, and seriously POWERFUL

The M2 MacBook Air is seriously the most luxurious and lightweight laptop you can buy at a reasonable price. M1 was already so good, and now, this thin and light laptop can pack some serious performance, realistically more than anybody needs in an average day, all without a fan. It is quiet, sleek, yet completely obliterates any task I throw at it, including some moderately heavy photo and video editing. The display is incredible, and although it isn't as good as the M1 MacBook Pro 14", it is still beautiful to look at. Incredibly crisp resolution, nice colors, and bright. The notch doesn't bother me, as the menu bar lives there, and apps like TopNotch can "software-ly" black it out. The battery is just stellar. Unbeatable from any Windows laptop, as far as I know, and fantastic compared to other MacBooks. Easily gets me through 2 days of average light use. Inputs are also amazing, as well. The keyboard is a much better improvement from their old butterfly switches, and is a pleasure to type on. The trackpad is also first in its class. Out of any laptop I've used, this trackpad makes other laptops feel almost unusable. Seriously, there is nothing to dislike about this laptop. I've always been skeptical of Apple products, but they have been crushing the MacBook lineup lately, especially after the introduction Apple silicon. You cannot go wrong with this laptop.

So far, so good

I have so far been very pleased with my MB Air. Even though it is the entry model, it is very fast and has dealt comfortably with any tasks I have thrown at it, however my demands of it is limited mainly to internet browsing, email, banking etc. I also run Norton antivirus and Nord VPN. Though quick, I doubt it would manage intensive video editing, but if that is what you need, then you should probably be looking at a MacBook Pro.The screen definition is breathtaking, I also have a high end HP Windows laptop with the same screen resolution, but here Apple wins hands down with its crisp photographic like images and vivid but natural colours. Build quality seems top notch, far better than the aforementioned HP. I love the passive cooling (no fan noise) and have not ... MoreI have so far been very pleased with my MB Air. Battery life is excellent, about 15 hours on a full charge performing routine duties. So what are the downsides? Well, it is expensive. It is not possible to upgrade it in anyway (such as adding more RAM or a larger SSD) and Apple will probably stop allowing it to update in about 4 years at most. However there are ways around the latter point, my 2011 MacBook Pro is currently running OSX Monterey, but that computer has been heavily upgraded to cope with that.Personally I am very pleased with my purchase and love using the computer. I need to travel soon, and it is so light and compact, it is the perfect companion. However I will probably be here buying another in 4-5 years time when Apple try to make it obsolete.
