I purchased the watch for my 11 yr old son. I didn't want him to have a phone yet but wanted to reach him and the Gitzmo watch we have is extremely limited. The phone service, texting and fitness features of the watch are wonderful. The one downside is the battery life. I had hoped he could take it camping and with little use it could last for at least an overnight trip but it couldn't even last the day. I had to purchase a portable charger so he could charge the watch each night.

If you're a parent and hesitant to get your child a smartphone, going this route is a nice tweener phase. I bought this for my 5th grader who can use this to stay connected to his parents. The watch is easier enough for him to learn. I had to teach him about the crown's functionality. He doesn't abuse it since there are no games. He doesn't go crazy with text messages. The phone works seamlessly since he has an Apple ID and other Apple devices. It's a good starter for kids on the precipice of joining the mobile world.

Iām coming from the Series 5 44mm watch. I realized that I didnāt use a lot of the functions and I simply wanted something that would track my steps and also something that would allow me to see my messages while at work in case my mother or family needed me. We canāt use our phones on the job. This fulfills just that for me. Iām enjoying the smaller 40mm size more because I have small wrists. The starlight color wasnāt my first choice, but Iām very happy that is the one I chose. It goes with everything because itās such muted color. Iām super pleased with it. I had absolutely no issues activating it. It paired with my 14 Pro flawlessly and itās nice that it has cellular so I donāt have to have my phone by me to be able to receive calls. I have a four-year-old child. I bought this for her for Christmas. In my opinion itās better than a cell phone itās always on her wrist and I can track where sheās at and we can make calls back-and-forth great way to stay in contact with my little girl when sheās with her mother on the weekends, I love the family sharing setting and all the features that goes along with the only wish it would add a feature where if the watch is removed, it sends the parent a notification that would also be a great feature for Apple to consider in the future. Overall, though Iām very happy with the watch.
This watch is amazing! Wasnāt sure if I wanted this or the series 8. The battery is awesome. I love the motivation of āclose the ringsā and how seamless everything works. I just came from having the galaxy watch 4, that thing died everyday in the middle of the day with no activity. I can go at least 2 days without a charge with this watch. Adding the battery widget to your iPhone just makes it even better to know when itās time for a charge, to where with my galaxy watch I would just look down and if it didnāt turn on I knew my answer then lol
Let me start of by saying, this watch is way better than any smart watch ive had. The seamless connection with my phone is so awesome. Its got good audio on calls and its okay when it comes to text, only the swipe txt function. The workout tracker is great and i can do an hour long workout with gps on. And still last the rest of the day with regular usage. I end most days with around 45-50% battery so you may get almost two days out of it if you dont use the workout mode to much. Great watch and its built solid.
So I am a late adapter! I have had a Fitibit for the longest and have looked at the Apple Watch off and on. I work in an office where literally EVERYBODY has an Apple Watch. I was getting a serious case of wanting to be a cool kid. My birthday rolled around in January and my husband asked what I wanted. I said "Apple Watch!" He said "Let's go get you one!" I love my watch. I ordered extra bands off Amazon because I am one of those color coordinated people who changes the band to match my outfit all the time :) As a Gen-Xer I love tech, but I am probably only using a tenth of what this thing will do. I love the watch part of course, but being an on the go trainer and educator, I love that I can look down and see emails, texts, incoming calls, etc. The fitness aspect ...Ā MoreSo I am a late adapter! Get the watch, you will love it!
while this iWatch has much the same features as my previous one, the face does not remain on and I must flick my wrist each time I want to read the face. Also, most disturbingly, this watch has given me a rash in 2 places where the metal touches my skin. This did not happen with my last watch so I can only believe there is a different metal that I am allergic too. I either wear the watch much less or have to wear a bandaid under it.Also very disconcerting, when waiting for Verizon to change my PIN number for over 1.5 hours and finally had to give up. I was told that there was only one person who could help. This during working hours during the week. Only 1 person for the size of the Verizon organization!! Not good!!!
My first Apple Watch and itās not as intuitive as I would have expected from Appleā¦more functional than a Fitbit obviously but Iāll be darned if I can consistently navigate around it with confidence. And Iām a millennial so I do have some technological literacy ;). Hopefully just a learning curve issue. Wish it had pulse ox and ECG functionality (when I bought it I assumed they all had it, so thatās on me). Overall good watch and love being able to make calls from it. Wish I could listen to music/podcasts from it as well (maybe I can but havenāt figured it out yet? Only gives me the option to route it to an external device like my beats).
Trading in the Gizmo to the an apple watch is not really an upgrade. An apple device that can't support video chat and sending images. For an apple device it was rather confusing setup to get cellular working. I'm still not clear on getting to view your kids GPS location easily on my iphone. The Watch app is so weak and unreliable. The process through verizon was also confusing. I wasted a lot of time chatting with a "tech expert" who really is there to only try and upsell insurance. I would have settled for the pro and cons of the gizmo rather than upgrading to an apple watch if I could do this again.
