64GB in 2024 is a joke

ALL IPS displays do this to some degree... but the lower quality they are.. the more it happens. i.g. my ipad mini 5 display NEVER did this with touches. the ipad mini 6 does this with very light touches... so apple cut corners on the storage and the display... I LOVE the MINI line of ipads. but the 256GB model is insanely overpriced.. (as is the 64GB but it's the only other option; apple wants to up-sell the more overpriced 256gb model so they didn't make a 128GB model like every other company does.)anyways.. I digress from my main frustration. 64GB is absolute TR**H. I installed the main apps that so many ppl will install.. the classic social media apps, snap, insta, twitter, bluesky, discord, etc etc etc etc. the main streaming apps, netflix, hulu, disney+, prime, twitch, kick, etc etc etc. the classic productivity apps like goodnotes, notion, procreate, etc etc etc. I EVEN UNINSTALLED all the appl bloatware like TIPS, BOOKS, STOCKS, etc etc etc. I installed a few small games and genshin impact....guess how much space I have left? 4.34GB of free space !WOW ! so much space !I consider myself a light/casual user... I don't do video editing... I don't take/store tons of videos/photos. and that's a good thing.. bc you can't store Jack on this 64GB model..... I don't even think I'll be able to install any iOS patches/updates without uninstalling a ton of my apps.....I'll never be able to use features like, offline video watching that netflix, hulu, prime offer if I wanna watch shows/movies offline.. bc there isn't any storage left...I can't store videos or photos.. bc 64GB is, or rather should be, a crime. I honestly think selling something like this that isn't 128GB base, or 256GB base, should be illegal.last, the battery isn't good at all. this thing drains so fast. I'm almost inclined to believe this has a faulty battery, but I wouldn't be able to get solid evidence. There isn't actually anything physically wrong (not counting the cheap IPS panel and illegally low battery screen-on time, but ig apple considers this a feature), so I don't think I can return it.Like I said, I absolutely love the mini line. but 64GB of storage... at this price... how is this legal? if I can't even install the patch/ios updates without uninstalling all my stuff... how is this a premium experience?it's absolutely insane that apple still sells 64GB models on their website, still, in 2024. ... the 9th gen 64GB.. the newly 10th gen has a 64GB... and the mini has the 64GB... this amount of storage is border-line useless. anyone who disagrees prob doesn't even actually use their tablet...

BUT, iTunes, randomly, separates tracks from their albums! So some of my albums appear as albums but some are in single tracks or groups of tracks. This is a real problem for lovers of classical music or opera as you need all the tracks together playing in the right order! I didn't notice this on the iPhone as I do not use that for music playback, which is one of the main things I use my iPad for - or would do if I could access all my albums rather than fragments of them.Looking into this online, this is a common problem that Apple have so far failed to fix. Some users have suggested that editing all the details of all the tracks affected can consolidate albums back together. However, this should not be up to the user (who has paid Apple a lot for the tech), in my experience does not work anyway (and there are two many tracks affected! I have better things to do!So, in summary, a brilliant tablet but possibly not if you want to play music albums.

If thats a deal breaker, then look for other options. TL;DR: You have to want to get this because its a compact iPad that can used 2nd gen Apple Pencil. Otherwise, consider the similarly priced iPad Air.

I like taking notes or making reminder lists on this device as it is so easy to carry around. The magnetic side also ensures my second generation Apple Pencil never gets lost. I know this is not the best screen in existence, but it is still very good in terms of image quality due to the size and form factor. I hardly notice the 60hz display even coming from a 120hz pro-res iPad Pro. I guess I do not hyper scroll around enough to see the difference in smoothness (though experienced Pro users might be bothered). I also have seen no issues with mobile gaming and this tablet is comfortable to hold for extended periods of time due to how lightweight it is. The battery life lasts all day even with heavy use. I have not noticed any battery degradation at all. I am not regretting my purchase and I highly recommend this tablet!

Excellent iPad Mini 6th Gen

I have used many iPads over the years, everything from the introductory iPads to the iPad Pro models. The iPad mini has to be one of the most universal iPads I have used to date. The portability and the power it has makes it a very productive iPad for me. The screen size makes it a little harder to multitask on but its a fair tradeoff for the ease of traveling with it and packing it around. I haven’t noticed the jelly scrolling issue that some people have reported. Battery life is good for the size of the mini. I really like that it’s compatible with the apple pencil 2. It comes in handy for selecting things on the smaller screen. Not a necessity though. I highly recommend getting the 256 gb memory version. 64 gb base memory is just not enough these days. The only drawback that I see is that connecting to an external monitor does not display in full screen leaving the black bars on the sides, but again not too big of a deal. Usb c charging is great and transfer speeds are not Thunderbolt speeds but it’s manageable. Overall a great iPad. Highly recommend it, especially if you find it on sale and lately it’s been on sale frequently.

I really love this little iPad

I love this smaller iPad. I have an iPad pro which feels too big after holding it awhile. And I have an iPhone which is sometimes too small to read books, browse the internet and watch videos. The iPad mini is light and easy to hold.I got the generation 2 pencil also. It works great on the screen. I do really like how the pencil magnetically sticks to the edge of the iPad and charges while connected to it. The pencil automatically synced with the iPad when I magnetically snapped it to the edge. It was a good companion purchase with the iPad.I have read about the 'jelly-scrolling' where the text will seem to lag behind a little making the scrolling look kind of 'wavy'. The Perfect I-Pad

This IPad has the perfect specs! It has an A15 chipset with 6 cores for cpu & 5 for gpu, & it has 4 GBS of ram. The screen is 500 nits has hdr, true tone and supports apple pencil 1 & 2. The cameras are both 12MP front and back! It even has a flash & center stage. iPad Mini - Review
10 February 2024

As an avid user of technology and devices, the iPad Mini 6th generation (Wifi, 64 GB) is a device to fulfill a niche from a variety of needs. As a student, this device has served as a great e-reader. Its size serves itself as convenient as it can fit in many tiny bags for ease of access. While I will try not to put any biases for or against this device, I will try to be as fair while being subject is addressing the many great features of this device while also addressing its drawbacks. I will make my ratings out of a scale of 5Display (3.5/5):The iPad mini, with its 8.3-inch liquid retina display, is fantastic for its size. If you are looking for a tablet sized device that is not too heavy but not too small, this device will be a choice for you. I will make my ratings out of a scale of 5Display (3.5/5):The iPad mini, with its 8.3-inch liquid retina display, is fantastic for its size. If you are looking for a tablet sized device that is not too heavy but not too small, this device will be a choice for you. My only criticism for the device is the liquid retina display. In comparison to other iPad models, as well as other devices, in pales in comparison to many devices offering OLED or AMOLED screens. The blacks of this screen are not rich, and they pop out more as a gray rather than being a true black. In all other aspects besides screen type, the iPad is competent with its 500 nits brightness, 2266x1488 resolution at 328 ppi, and its antireflective coating. One thing I will mention are that in my personal opinion, the bezels of this device are huge and I would wish that they would be shrunk in the next generation of iPadProcessor/Chipset/speed (4/5):The device utilizes the A15 chip from the iPhone series. The chip is amazing at its upkeep and while I do not notice lag, processing speed is slow in comparison to other devices that I have used. I understand that the iPad mini is not supposed to be Apple's top tier line, but considering it is a line of its own and for the price point, I would hope that the iPad mini would have improved speeds. For many apps, the apps work great. For some apps, I notice that certain apps would crash for heavy processing in comparison to my iPhone processing.Storage (2/5):The iPad mini lacks strength with its offline storage. There is little freedom to pick and choose for the iPad models as, in my opinion, Apple offers two options for storage and there is no in between. The iPad mini with lower storage only offers 64 GB in storage versus other identical models offering 256 GB but at a higher price point. While iCloud storage is a solution to this, it is unfortunate that the price gap is big.Camera: (3.5/5)The iPad mini utilizes a 12 MP wide camera with a f/1.8 aperture. The camera is decent for basic tasks and in my general opinion, it is to the same level as other competitors in its price point from my opinions of the naked eye. I ranked the score a 3.5/5 because of the front camera which is excellent for use with FaceTime, especially since center stage (the automation of the front camera to pan to your face if you are within general range) is offered.Software (4/5)The iPad mini has excellent software. iPadOS on a tablet this size is excellent for multitasking. While other devices may offer much better multitasking software, due to this device's size and chip constraints, I believe that iPad OS has maximized its potential to its best ability. This device is excellent for note takers who would like presentation slides on one side and would like to take notes on another.Speakers: (4)Speakers sound as good as other speakers, I do not think they are the best speakers in the world, but the loudness and quality do not interfere with one another. As someone who personally enjoys playing music loud, quality does not shrink if you raise the volume to max. I think the speakers are a very balanced piece of hardware on this device.Security (4/5):Touch ID serves the main lock and unlock of security on this device. My only critique is that I was not used to using my fingers on the lock button to unlock the device. This was more of a personal issue on my end and have so far gotten used to it. But it does its purpose, I'm just picky for the convenience factors!Battery (5/5):Battery on this device is amazing! I applaud apple for making such efficient chipset. I know I critiqued the chip for speed earlier, but the iPad mini is not a device prone to heating and it does its job to effectively manage tasks as to be smart about power and battery consumption. I am able to use this device throughout the day with no issues.

iPad Pro 11 Replacement
5 May 2024

My previous iPad was the 11-inch Pro and that is the baseline to what I'm comparing this 6th Gen iPad Mini. I'll spare you all the nitty gritty details that can be found elsewhere online and just summarize by saying that the newest Mini is everything I like about having a tablet and there is nothing about my Pro that I miss. Since the Mini 6 has a full speed, full function USB-C port, I'm able to plug in external SSD drives whenever I need to copy things to/from the iPad. It supports Apple Pencil 2 for those rare times I actually use the pencil. It is fast, small, lightweight and has excellent battery life. I mainly use this Mini for viewing schematics or watching streaming video content. I do some light web work on it and even less office productivity - I use a Mac ... MoreMy previous iPad was the 11-inch Pro and that is the baseline to what I'm comparing this 6th Gen iPad Mini. I mainly use this Mini for viewing schematics or watching streaming video content. I do some light web work on it and even less office productivity - I use a Mac for that stuff, which brings me to my final point:My iPad Pro with all the accessories I had for it (Magic Keyboard/Trackpad case, Pencil 2, etc) was so close to being a laptop but at the end of the day it just wasn't. Brilliant as iPad OS is, it is no replacement for a full on laptop/desktop OS. So here I am lugging around this big heavy iPad and my MacBook Pro or MacBook Air with the only redeeming benefit of the iPad being that I could write on the screen - which, again, I rarely did. What I really wanted was not a laptop replacement tablet but rather a sidekick companion that was light-hearted and easy take along. For me, the Mini is the Robin to my Batman Laptop. They're not fighting over who gets to do what, instead they play well together. My Macbook is the workhorse and the main productivity tool. When I need to go out and fix a system, I Airdrop the schematic to my iPad mini and go do thing I need to do, leaving the big Macbook at my desk. When I get back from doing the thing, I Airdrop back to my Mac any photos I may have taken, sync some notes, and redlines to schematics and then I resume my work from there. That is how I imagine Apple originally envisioned all of this working and it does work brilliantly. The iPad Pro does have a place in some people's workflow but I think in all honesty most people are those "some people". Just get the Mini and enjoy not spending as much while still getting 99% of the same features.

“It ain’t the size that matter”

To no surprise this product replaced my iPad mini 2 without a hick up. Integration is now smoother with my other products such as Apple TV, AirPods, iPhone and a 10 yr. old iMac. This model has usb-c which adds more possibilities such as faster charging, charge other devices like AirPods, iPhone etc. and directly connecting an SSD. Grab a wireless keyboard, mouse/trackpad and an Apple TV to setup a work station on the couch or in a hotel. The mini 6 has a more efficient use of space with a smaller footprint and yet a larger display; thanks to the deleted home button. Apple’s laminated display is brighter and crisper despite having the same ppi as my old iPad mini. This is my most used device, for perspective about two to three times as much use as my iPhone. I waited a year to write a review in order to see how it held up to multiple hours of use daily; so far the battery and speed are the same as day one. Most full size iPad owners handle my mini and say “Wow, I might sell my iPad get one of these lil things.”Photo -top iPad mini 2 no case -bottom iPad mini 6 with otterbox defender case
