This is really helpful for iPhone users who have your typical earbuds that plug into a headphone jack. However, these pieces are so small that they are extremely easy to misplace and are hard to keep up with. I couldn’t tell you where mine is. It’s pretty ridiculous that we have to have this piece because Apple doesn’t feel like being normal. This has just encouraged me to use bluetooth headphones and earbuds more, which is exactly what they wanted so that they could profit more. The whole situation is dumb but at the same time I put up with it because I do love the products lol. Wired earbuds are a thing of the past now I guess.

Get a different one. It works, but honestly, what were they THINKING with this design?! This is overpriced, fragile, medium-quality, obtrusive, poorly sized and has bad design. Theres no locking mechanism so it can pull out and get lost, its not meant to be a permanent attachment so you’ll easily loose it taking it on and off. Its just this little annoying piece that lays around waiting to be forgotten. The design makes it get in the way and is awful. What a design flaw to design a straight stick coming out the bottom of a phone! I feel when the headphone plug twists in the jack, it makes an audible difference that is unfavorable. Not to mention, this flawed design makes it so that you can’t charge your phone, nor share listening with someone else! If I made a dongle, it would be completely different from this poor design. Not to mention the price is crazy! For how poor this is, they overcharge a LOT. I’ve gotten better off-brand ones for less and I use those, not this.

Disappointed

The adapter probably works quite well for headphones. It didn’t work for the application I wanted to use it for. I have a piece of equipment called a Chronograph. It uses the headphone jack on iPhones for data input to the phone app for the equipment. This equipment worked just fine on my old iPhone 4 and my 1st generation SE. Doesn’t work with my new iPhone 13 with the adapter. Don’t know what Apple did to the phone/adapter but it doesn’t work. Not happy with the adapter or the phone.

Good quality adapter

Sometimes I want to use my wired headphones with my phone, and with modern smartphones, an adapter like this is needed. This lets me plug in my regular wired headphones that use the typical 3.5mm plug. It comes in a compact cardboard and paper box, containing the adapter and some information booklets. The adapter plugs into my phone’s charging port and fits well, just like a charging cable. The wire is thin, close to the wired headphone cable thickness. The adapter is pretty short, but it’s enough for an adapter like this. Being an official adapter, it has a similar quality feel to the company’s other wires and plugs. I wish my phone included this, but I understand most people are moving towards wireless earbuds, so it’s a separate purchase for those that want it. ... MoreSometimes I want to use my wired headphones with my phone, and with modern smartphones, an adapter like this is needed. Also, the headphone plugs in securely and there doesn’t feel to be any chance of it falling out accidentally. The color scheme also matches other cables, so it blends in well, visually. As for audio quality, I think it’s great and I don’t notice any difference when using the adapter. Overall, it’s a good quality adapter and I have no major complaints about it. If someone needs to use wired headphones, I would recommend getting this.

Great for work travel

Works well. Female end for a headphone jack to lightning connector. Wanted an adapter to use the normal jack headphones I have for my laptop but with my iphone. Helps minimize the number of headphones I need for traveling for work. Small cable, but fits the need. Had it for a month now and quality is good so far. Great for assisting in using not too expensive headphones for both work and personal use.

Inexpensive Adapter for Using Analog Headphones
21 February 2022

Apple has been on a campaign to eliminate connectors and controls from their products because of their preoccupation with minimalist styling. Those of us with quality analog headphones are forced to use an adapter because there is only one plug connection on the recent phones and tablets. This adapter works fine with either 3 wire or 4 wire connections and the mic and analog control switches on the headphones work properly. I enjoy using it for phone calls with ear buds and lightweight headset with a mic.On the minus side is that you cannot use the Lightning connector for charging while using the headphones (but of course you can charge with a Magsafe connector). Additionally, the output signal is fine for most earbuds and inexpensive headphones, but insufficient for many better headphones. It does not have enough power for my classic AKG K240DF studio monitor headphones (600 ohm) nor for my HiFiMan HE5se which both require more power. And you can use the adapter for other USB devices such as flash drives or even a digital camera. If you need more output power then I suggest the Apple Lightening Camera Adapter which includes a USB A connection plus a Lightening port for power. With this adapter you can use variety of quality external DACs (such as an Audioquest Dragonfly) and get a better feed for quality headphones and connecting to other components.

They are already known for their stellar assortment of headphones (with dedicated space to try them on for size and sound). But, they also have the common sense the sense to know that great headphones won't matter if you don't have one of thesewhite things (as my wife and I call them) in stock.(Seems like whenever I find them, they're around the same price, near 10 bucks, and considering they are SO easy to lose, I wish there was a better 3-for-1 deal offered, but I guess Apple steers that ship).Anyway, if you are actually EARLY for a train (rare for me), I love the B&H, Pizza Supreme, and Moynihan Train Hall trifecta (oh, and/or Vesurios or H&H, also in the station).

Just what the doctor ordered ;)

I use this product to listen to music and other videos on YouTube, DailyMotion, and other apps. For 6 years, I had the circular Apple earphones that I used for my iPhone 4S and iPhone 6. Then, my 6 broke and I needed to get a new phone, which was the 7. For the iPhone 7, there was no circular port for the charger, so the new earphones that came with the iPhone had to be plugged in the same port as the charger, which was very limited. About a month ago, those earphones that came with the iPhone 7 stopped producing sound from one of the earphones. Then, about a week later, there was NO sound coming from there, so they stopped working entirely. So I was forced to throw them in the garbage. I ordered it the day I threw out my old iPhone 7 ones and ever since that, the adapter came in only 2 days later! Ever since I have used it with my iPhone 4S/6 earphones, I have used them almost every day and I could hear clearly through BOTH earphones! I've had my iPhone 4S/6 earphones for 6 years, but my iPhone 7 earphones, I have had for only 3 years. Maybe it was something I did, but I think that this was a goldmine! Thank you so much Visions Electronics! :)

Works but sucks for pro audio/ live performance

They do the job but are a pain in the buttocks. Easy to lose and still don’t understand why they don’t include another charging port on the adapter.I realize BlueTooth is an option for most, but it is unreliable and is not compatible with high end sound equipment or PA speakers where you need to use a 3.5mm adapter.Would be happy to buy a couple of these if they had the extra bunt hole to connect a charging cable so that when you are using your phone in a live performance situation, your phone/iPad won’t die.I know a lot of drummers that rely on using 3.5mm cables to route to their in-ear monitors for sound, click-track or backing tracks. They are moving over to other products besides Apple because of this.
