I was hesitant to buy such an expensive keyboard, but it has turned out to be a great purchase. Here is why: 1. The keyboard is sturdy and never collapses when I am using it. 2. The keyboard has a touch pad! I have not used one for a long time and forgot how handy it can be. 3. The keyboard allows you to use the Touch Screen, The Apple Pencil, the Keypad, and the Touch Pad. It’s great to have choices. 4. The keyboard has low level backlighting of the keys. 5. The keyboard makes working from your lap, instead of a desk, very comfortable. The tilt screen adjusts to an easy angle. 6. The keyboard has an amazing, often overlooked feature….it has a USB-C charging port integrated into the hinge on the left side. See the photo. I especially like the fact that the hinge charging port is on the left side since the iPad charging port is on the right. Again, its nice to have choices. 7. The keyboard is a perfect size for the iPad. It is not super lightweight but it is lightweight enough. If I need to worry about weight I can easily remove the iPad and use it without the keyboard.

So I purchased this because they do a price match and at the price I got it for, it couldn't be beat. For starters, it was everything I was looking for in a keyboard "attachment/case" for the iPad. I would not exactly say it was "magical", but it is the best one on the market for the device but with that being said, I had to return it because it was missing one thing in the design, and that somewhat scared me a little. As someone who protects his devices religiously (almost to the point of obsession), this combo offers NOTHING by way of any protection, aside from the covers. As you can see, the corners are exposed, which makes it easy to remove and reattach if so desired, for other uses, if this thing takes a tumble somehow..well you get the idea. Also, the pencil ... Also, the pencil relies on the strength of the magnet, to stay in place, as there is literally nothing else holding it when the case is closed. When I would slip it into my bag, the pencil would always pop off and just sit there loosely. With that being said, if Apple would have had a pencil "holder" on this case, along with some sort of corner protection, it would be the closest thing to perfect I have seen. To use, simply pop it on, and the 3 pin connector powers the keyboard (so no external charging needed). The trackpad is extremely responsive and literally clicks everywhere (taps and clicks work). It does have a backlit keyboard as well, but the settings for brightness are not controlled by any key combinations like other keyboards for the device...but rather in the settings of the iPad itself. There is a passthrough USB-C connector on the side which is for charging the iPad while it is connected, which frees up the connector on the bottom of the device for other attachments. If one can get past the lack of corner protection and/or pencil "holder", I would highly recommend this. Sure it is expensive but just remember..they do price match!

I got the Apple Magic Keyboard of iPad and this, the Logitech - Combo Touch iPad Pro Keyboard Case, to compare. This case is sleek, looks nice, shows off your iPad's color, and the keyboard is easy to use. The case does offer an additional USB-C port on the side meaning you can charge your iPad using the case and plug something else directly into the iPad. This keyboard does fit nicely in your lap, even if your sitting so that your lap is at a downward incline. All that said, I just don't think it's the case for me. I'm the kind of person that likes to take my iPad wherever I go so having a case that can protects all sides of my iPad is important to me and this case does not do that. While the keyboard is just as easy to use as the Logitech keyboard, the trackpad and hand rest are smaller. I find that the bottom of my hand is resting on the edge of the Magic Keyboard case as opposed to fully on the case with the Logitech one. While I can easily remove the iPad to place into my extension arm near my bed, I can't use the case to prop the iPad up on my steering wheel in my car (I have to move the seat back, set the iPad in my lap, and look down at it). The keyboard is matte and fingerprints are easy to see on it. Overall, it's a nice keyboard case, it works great, looks sleek, and carries the Apple name. If you can get it at $200, all the more better. But for even that discounted price, I prefer what the Logitech - Combo Touch iPad Pro Keyboard Case has to offer.

I originally purchased another branded keyboard, however the Prop 65 sticker changed my mind. Glad I did that because the Apple Magic Keyboard, despite the price is all that! You can "see and feel" the build quality. I am sure the other keyboard would have worked well and maybe even offer slightly better protection. However, the Apple Magic Keyboard takes the cake. When reading the reviews, there is hardly a mention of protection. Instead, they talk about how great the keyboard is. It is a seamless integration with the iPad, The "rear" cover is magnetic, so the iPad securely "snaps" into place. Then there is the keyboard with trackpad. There is protection...just how much....I really don't want to find out. With the Magic Keyboard cover in place, the iPad can be moved back or forth for comfortable viewing. You can even type in a cramped space. All of this folds up into a nice folio, like a notebook. There is added weight with the Magic Keyboard cover, heavier than a MacBook Air.
I purchased this case on a whim when I got an iPad Air (M1) at the last minute to be able to take work on the go for a conference. I can't imagine not having this keyboard! It was absolutely essential at the conference. The trackpad is my favorite part about this keyboard. I'm typically a laptop user, and bought this combo when my MacBook STILL hadn't arrived (it was a custom order, it took months due to supply chain issues). Going from keyboard to trackpad is much more natural for me than going from keyboard to screen, and it reduced my fingerprints on the screen, which can drive me nuts, lol. Oh, and keyboard shortcuts!!! I was so excited to discover I could still use my usual keyboard shortcuts! Some people may not like the limited tilting ability, so be mindful ... The case itself definitely adds weight to the device, but I personally don't mind, because it secures it to the surface I sit it on that much more. Having a USB-C port for charging at the keyboard level is a great addition, so you don't have a cord sticking out the end of your device. Is this a case for your iPad? No. Does it provide minimal protection for your iPad while using the keyboard? Yes.
I bought both the Apple Magic Keyboard and the Brydge Pro+ for my new M1 11” iPad Pro. I took the Magic Keyboard back and kept the Brydge Pro+. I have had Brydge keyboards since my iPad Air and iPad Pro 10.7”. The Brydge is Bluetooth and has to be recharged every few month's but once paired, works as soon as it’s opened. The Magic Keyboard pairs automatically and charges from the iPad. I liked that I could easily ‘Swipe Up” and remove my iPad from the Apple Magic. The ‘hang in the air’ design of the Apple was only good for typing on a table. The Brydge is good everywhere from recliner to sofa to bed and goes from 0 - 180 degrees verses 125 degrees on the Apple. Brydge also has an extra row of function keys which is missing on the Apple. The Brydge trackpads is slightly bigger but the Apple has more multi-touch gestures. The Brydge’s Aluminum design feels more solid but also weighs more than Apple’s. If you want to remove your iPad often and prefer the increased trackpad gestures, get the Apple Magic Keyboard for $249-$299. If you plan to keep it attached and like using it ‘everywhere’, get the Brydge Pro+, which I found on sale at BB for $120 last year.
It's alright. Pros: * solid keyboard, feels comfortable to type on (where supported) * good trackpad, works well outside of tapping to click * magnetic attachment- great idea, super satisfying Cons: * Tablet can't be mounted / attached vertically, meaning your webcam is awkwardly off to the site for video calls. * Can't tilt back very far at all, I was hoping for a surface studio style hinge that would let me use my ipad as a drawing tablet but it only tilts back like 5 degrees. * No protection - basically provides no additional protection to your ipad, not really great as a "case". * Heavy - weighs more than the iPad. * iPad OS doesn't support keyboard shortcuts like MacOS and doesn't support tapping to click on the trackpad (as opposed to clicking in to click) * ... Honestly, just bizarrely low attention to detail on this product overall. It's wild that so many blind apple fans are giving this 5 stars. I guarantee they've never tried a third party keyboard case or a surface.

(2) SCREEN SIZE — (Do I need the additional screen size to draw larger illustrations or work more effectively?) (3) STORAGE — (How much space do I REALLY need for my workflow? & What are my options for extended/portable storage?) -WEIGHT &SCREEN SIZE- At first I was heavily leaning towards the 12.9” iPad Pro as I was Thinking that the larger screen size would allow for easier and more effective illustration due to the larger “canvas” to work with. However, upon holding the 12.9” with the magic keyboard I was shocked at how HEAVY it felt. Considering the additional $300 for the larger screen I figured I’d opt for the 11 inch and test it out for a few weeks and reevaluate. That turned out to be the best decision I could have made. Even with the magic keyboard attached the 11” iPad Pro is light weight and extremely versatile. I feel that the 11 inch with the magic keyboard strikes the perfect balance as I can work and draw with it, holding it in my hands, on my lap, etc and only after hours do I start to notice the weight. If it were the 12.9” that could quickly become cumbersome. Additionally, with the Apple silicon M1 chip The screen is extremely snappy and can zoom in very close for illustration purposes. In my opinion this negates the need for the larger screen. You can choose a canvas size that’s larger than the screen of the iPad and zoom in and out to draw, as necessary. Lastly the build quality of the magic keyboard is nothing short of excellent. I can hold it by the corner with the iPad attached and the magic keyboard open and it does not bend, and does not feel like it’s going to break. If you are a writer or simply want a fantastic keyboard to go along with your iPad I would highly recommend grabbing the magic keyboard. -STORAGE- worh the USB-C port on the magic keyboard and one on the iPad itself, it was an easy decision for me to go with the 128GB version. SS drives and HD drives have come down in price drastically over the past few years and will continue to drop - therefore I saw higher value in purchasing storage as I needed , versus paying upfront to get it locked into the iPad.
First of all, this keyboard is HEAVY. It only allows one tilt view, which ends up hovering over the top line of keys on the keyboard (not very smart). I want to be able to tilt my screen further back, but this doesn't allow that. The keyboard is small and the tracking pad is ridiculously small. This will not sit in my lap well at all, and I do all of my computing on my lap. It only allows the iPad to be attached by a magnet, and while I was working on it, my iPad slipped off of the keyboard magnet several times!!! This is inexcusable as it is very inconvenient, and could cause damage. Also, if you drop your iPad, there is no protection whatsoever, and it's possible your iPad could completely fall out of this and onto a hard floor, breaking it. Again, not very smart ... Again, not very smart engineering. I have always purchased Apple accessories for my Apple devices, but I returned this keyboard. I am sticking with the Logitech Smart Keyboard, which completely protects my iPad, has multiple tilting positions, and a much larger track pad and keyboard. NOTE: This keyboard costs more than twice what the Logitech Smart Keyboard costs and is nowhere near as nice.
I will be the first to admit that this is a very expensive keyboard/iPad cover. There are plenty of alternatives that can give you similar functionality. I was able to purchase this at a price match that was nearly 100 off the retail price so it made it worth it. The build quality, like all things Apple, is exceptional. The keys feel like a magic keyboard with just the right amount of tactile feel. The trackpad is useful and sort of converts an iPad into a light laptop. There is pass though charging too so you don't have to plug-in two cables to charge the keyboard cover and the iPad which is really nice. And the way that the cover holds the iPad is great, it feels very sturdy and hasn't failed on me yet, and the ability to change the angle of the screen is amazing. ... However, the cover does hide the beautiful color options you can get with your iPad (mine is Blue but I forget that it is because the cover is on 99.9% of the time), this can be a benefit as well if have an iPad Air/Pro that wasn't your first color choice. The cover is slim fitting, and it does add a bit of bulk to the iPad and is adding a bit of weight to the iPad as well. I don't know if it's any heavier or lighter than any other 3rd party covers but I did notice that the iPad Air feels less "airy" with the cover on, and I am sure this would be similar with Logitech or other keyboard covers as well. This keyboard cover is designed to hold the iPad in landscape mode much like a laptop, so if you're just looking to do some reading with the iPad or need a cover that folds out of the way, you may want to look at a secondary option for a case when you want to have it hand held and reading, as the keyboard does get in the way of holding it in portrait orientation Overall, I would recommend this if it's in your budget, and definitely recommend it if you are able to get a better price on it. But at full price I'd at least consider looking at the 3rd parties to see if what they have to offer is comparable for what your needs are. Pros: - Build quality - Keyboard feel - Pass-thru charging - Tilt and angle adjustment - Attaches securely - Converts iPad Air and Pro into a mini-laptop Cons: - Price - Color options - Added weight - No portrait mode orientation - Cannot fold the keyboard out of the way
