This design choice is baffling, as it hampers productivity and disrupts workflow. It becomes especially frustrating when you need to charge the mouse quickly and continue using it simultaneously. The charging process itself is also subpar. Having to position the Magic Mouse on its back, resembling a beetle, feels awkward and unintuitive. It adds an unnecessary extra step to the charging routine and can be easily forgotten, leading to moments of frustration when you realize the mouse is still dead. On a positive note, the Magic Mouse does offer a sleek and ergonomic design that is comfortable to use when not charging. Its multi-touch surface allows for smooth scrolling and navigation, enhancing the user experience. The mouse is responsive and works well with Apple devices, providing seamless integration with macOS. Despite its design appeal and functionality when not charging, the limitations imposed by the Magic Mouse's charging mechanism significantly impact its usability. It feels like a missed opportunity for Apple to have a truly convenient and user-friendly charging solution. As a result, I find myself frequently annoyed by the inability to use the mouse while charging and questioning the overall practicality of this design choice. In conclusion, the Apple Magic Mouse has its merits with its sleek design and responsive performance. However, the frustrating inability to use it while charging and the impractical charging position on its back detract significantly from its overall appeal. Apple should seriously consider revisiting the charging mechanism to provide a more seamless and user-friendly experience for its customers.

One end of the cable is plugged into the Mac and the other end into the bottom of the Magic Mouse. This means one can't use the mouse while it is charging. One also has to push a tiny on-off switch on the base of the mouse to the on position. There is no instruction on which side is on except that green shows when the switch is in the on position. I am red-green colorblind so the green color wasn't much of a help. For those with similar challenges, the on position is the one that is nearest the edge of the bottom of the mouse which also might be considered the up position. The black mouse is attractive from a distance, but its shiny black surface gets quickly covered by fingerprints. That's is the reason I deducted one star. Also be aware one must go into the mouse instructions to activate the right-click function for the apple. Once that is done, I have recommended this mouse to my family and friends.

If you are used to the various swipe gestures on MacBook trackpads and frequently use those gestures, then there really isn’t a better option out there (except maybe the Magic Trackpad, which I found awkward to use off to the side). But if you are probably just going to use typical mouse gestures with this, I would maybe look at other options. Even after adjusting sensitivity, it’s too easy to click, or to trigger one of the Mac gesture controls accidentally. And I also think there are a lot more ergonomic options out there. If I used the Mac gestures a lot, I would have kept and loved this mouse. But because of the ergonomics and sensitivity, I decided to exchange it.

I don't love the super low profile, as it hurts my wrist to handle this mouse for prolonged periods. I am typically a PC user but bought a Mac recently. On my PC I use a Logitech G502, and I prefer the feel of that mouse hands down (no pun intended). Also, the USB-C being on the underside of the mouse makes no sense to me, as the mouse is entirely unusable while plugged in. Each time you turn off the mouse it has to be reconnected via the cable for the Mac to register the mouse. The touch interface is nice and responsive to a variety of gestures. I have no issues with that aspect. Admittedly, I'm still new to Macs so perhaps there are things I'm not doing 100% right. Maybe I'll come to like it more with experience.

I have been a Magic Mouse user for 10+ years. I started from Magic Mouse 1 and now I am a magic mouse 2 user. It's slick design makes it very comfortable to use but super comfy for a person with a big hand.It very easy to. perform Back Gesture or Scroll when you want a click. It's very annoying and imagine you had filled a big form on the web and accidentally do the Back gesture instead of Click on Submit. Sometimes I have to redo the form.As I a mentioned above lot of times mouse decides to scroll (even for 0.5") instead of click. Not very reliable and precise mouse. I rarely had this much trouble with Version 1. Hopefully Apple releases Magic Mouse 3 soon

This item is a must have for college students and people in business. It’s more convenient than the touch pad on the MacBook. It gives you the desktop feel. It’s lightweight and doesn’t have that loud clicky noise like other brands. It took me a short while to get use to the finger tip commands but once I got it, I fell in love. My husband edits videos on Final Cut Pro and it’s so much easier to get the job done, than dragging video clips with the track pad on the Mac. I had it for a few weeks now and It’s still working off the charge that it came with when I purchased it. Other reviews that I have read stated that they only charge their mouse once a month, which is awesome. Be sure to turn the mouse off when not in use. Other reviews that I have read stated that they only charge their mouse once a month, which is awesome. Be sure to turn the mouse off when not in use. I love the charger cord that it comes with (USB-C to lightening cable). It’s the same sturdy material as the one that comes with the MacBook, and the cord is black so it won’t look dirty over time. I actually packed it in my bag to use it as my traveling charger cord to charge my other apple products as well. I would recommend packing a cloth ( like the glass cleaner cloth that comes with eyeglasses) because you’ll see your finger prints and smudges all over the mouse. I do have the dark colored mouse so it shows smudges more than the traditional white mouse. I would also recommend purchasing a small pouch or carrying case to protect it in your bag if you plan to use it out of the home. I’m a college student and I travel with my MacBook along with my books and material for school, so I definitely have to keep my mouse protected. It’s a great investment! I might purchase a mouse pad to have when I feel the need to use it. Preferably one with the wrist pad/cushion for when I’m doing lengthy projects in school. I’m very satisfied with this product, especially the charging wire. I wish apple made all their charger wires with this same Material.

Worst ergonomics in existence
24 August 2023

One star for aesthetic and the touchpad-like interface. Never thought I’d be one to complain about this but the ergonomics are quite literally the worst. My hand cramps within 1 hour of use and after 4 I would have to walk away. My hand was sore for days after several days of consecutive use. Thank goodness for Best Buy’s excellent customer service; I returned this and to no one’s surprise the cs rep also noted that this is a very common complaint with this mouse. For a company doing everything else so well this mouse is shockingly bad. If you actually need to use your mouse for work and not just for the occasional click, steer VERY clear.
