I'd always used Apple products in my working environment & naturally continued (MacBook & iPhone) when I retired & set up at home. Having recently bought a new MacBook (no longer able to update my old one), I was very happy with the JL tech support in store in setting it up & transferring data from my old one. BUT I was sold this (v expensive!) multi-adaptor when I described my at-home set-up of printer, external monitor & hard-drive - only to discover 2 out of 3 don't connect? Apparently Apple are famous for this in-built obsolescence? Not very green... & poor JL customer support?

I unfortunately purchased this product assuming it would be compatible with my 2015 MacBook Air. In fairness, Apple does explicitly state online that this adapter is compatible with 2018 MacBook Airs and later models. To my surprise, Best Buy/Insignia offers an identical adapter (https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/insignia-usb-c-to-hdmi-multiport-adapter-ns-pcachm-c-only-at-best-buy/14823521?cmp=knc-s-71700000055264076&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI5sWGvumKhAMVAgutBh3MEQnYEAQYASABEgJ0FfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) for almost half the price that is compatible with my 2015 MacBook Air. I was stubborn to accept that Apple products use proprietary technology. How could they when a generic USB-C adapter fits the MacBook? I saw my colleague's USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter, and what struck me was there was no change in the native resolution of his Mac when plugged in to HDMI. The non-Mac adapter I had worked albeit annoyingly. Simply plugging in the adapter would change my resolution to (something like) 640 x 480! That's a lot of screen real estate rendered useless by that low resolution. I was happy to find a for-Mac adapter for a fraction of the retail cost. Let's just say I am pleased with the purchase experience, the seller, and the turnaround time between placing the order and receiving the item. Thank YOU!

It is obviously made for apple products, but while I was searching (for a third time) for a usb C adapter that will give me an extra HDMI w/o killing the onboard HDMI…while I was sitting at my desk, looking online i thought “hmmmm, I got this new adapter for my iPad, let me try it”, and IT WORKED. Not only did I not have to buy and try a third product off Amazon, resulting in a happy ME; now I only need one adapter that will work for either item.So as an Apple adapter it works great, but the additional utility of working on my HP laptop makes it WELL worth the money.A
If you purchasing a 2023 MacBook, you need this multifunctional adapter for your HDMI cord if you have a second monitor or if you still use a USB drive.You do have to allow time for your MacBook to find the device. It’s not an instant plug-in plate like you typically fine with windows. It does take your MacBook anywhere from 5 to 10 maybe even 15 seconds to find it if you’re running other programs. I want to be clear: The following limitations are limitations of the iPad Air 4th generation and iPad Pro relating to ALL adapters.IPadOS versions 14.1 up to 14.4.1 have all had this issue.1. A 12w will not provide enough power to charge the iPad through the adapter.All-in-all, not a bad little adapter and it is great at letting you get the most out of an iPad. If you are using this for a laptop, this would easily be a 5 star product outside of the rubberized coating. Since I use this exclusively with iPad Air 4th Generation, the limitations make it 3 stars. Hopefully, future iPadOS updates will resolves these moving forward.

Works perfectly! I use it to connect my iPhone to my TV to watch streaming Movies from Netflix, etc. I’ve been leery about granting these apps permission to access my home network and Wi-Fi, so connecting to TV with an HDMI cable and this adapter eliminates that concern. Picture and sound quality are excellent. I can even charge the phone at the same time if the battery is running low since it also has a USB-C port. I haven’t tried the USB-A port yet, but will try it as a way to easily take my photos off my phone and xfer them to my Windows PC-just using a cable and Photo app has been glitchy - an Apple/Windows intermittent compatibility known issue.This adapter is pricy, but what genuine Apple product isn’t. I highly recommend it!
