Apple Watch Series 8 41mm Silver Aluminium Case with White Sport Band - GPS

Definitely not for everyone but as a full-time apple watch user, having the extra battery life is great. I've been using apple watches since series 1 for mountain biking, mountaineering, snowboarding plus daily use, and more recently the sleep tracking function. The rugged design of this watch is appreciated as I had scratched my series 4 to pieces. I like the larger screen as it makes seeing your data at a glance much easier. The alpine loop band is nice but I will likely go back to using a silicone band as the fabric strap soaks up sweat when exercising - I think it's more intended for the titular alpine environments. I've not tested this in the water yet but excited to use it on a dive next year. Apple Watch Series 8 - a Five Star Upgrade!

I've had a Series 1 Apple Watch for what feels like a lifetime and it still looks like brand new and functions well, albeit with a basic specification compared with the latest watches. My hubby surprised me with a new Series 8 watch and I'm absolutely delighted with it. I am still exploring the new features it offers, especially the health related ones and highly recommend to potential purchasers. It looks great, sits so comfortably on the wrist and and I still feel like Inspector Gadget when I take a call on it when I'm out and about! I also have to say that the John Lewis customer service experience was amazing compared with another store, where I was kept waiting for 30 minutes by staff who were definitely not busy. Best Apple Watch yet!

I'm a long time Apple Watch user, this is my third watch and the best by far. Main reasons for choosing this Watch. - Battery life, with careful use I've easily managed 4 days on one charge. - As the battery lasts so long I use the sleep monitoring features. - Compatible with my old Watch straps - No worries as it's totally waterproof - As the case is titanium there is no noticeable weight gain over my previous stainless watches. - Cellular connection means I can leave the iPhone at home some days (I use Vodafone) - the extra large screen allows busy Watch faces with lots of info or large easy to read simple faces. I've not encountered anything that disappoints as the Watch is so well put together and works seamlessly with my other Apple tech. Big step forwards

My last apple watch died in a hot tub incident...so it was time for a new one. My biggest complaint has been better life on the apple watches - its really tough to keep it charged. I use the exercise function almost daily. I couldn't face the switch to a Garmin watch and all the hassle of setting it up and getting it - despite the Garmin battery life being a vast improvement. The Ultra watch came out just as the old watch died so I treated myself. All sold out except John Lewis which is a great secret source of stock when the big retailers have all sold out. Biggest difference is the doubled battery life which means the watch is nearly always charged now. Screen is bright and big. Extra button is handy. Looks very modern but understated. Beautiful finish. The extra weight isn't discernable and it dosen't feel like you're carrying a burden on your wrist. The HR monitor still takes some coaxing into action however - on a 1hr run, the first 5 mins are often missing whilst it gets its act together. New strap looks nice but is fiddly to attach back on - especially in low light. Expensive, but a huge step up from the last apple watch.

Excellent smart watch

Before this Apple Watch 8 45mm I had a series 6 40 mm Apple Watch. The battery life is much better on the Series 8. I usually charge it while I have a shower, that time is enough for a full charge thanks to the fast charging system. After 24 hour the battery level is around 50%. So one full charge is almost enough for two days. The original silicone band is great if I use it in the swimming pool but I bought another trail loop band for my watch. The trail loop is the most comfortable band I ever used. The Watch has crash detection feature which is great to have but hopefully I will never use it. In an emergency situation it would save life. Great Features

Thought for a long time about buying an Apple Watch then I saw the Ultra. Watched many reviews on YouTube and decided to take the plunge. Well made I like the fact that it’s Titanium much more rugged than Aluminium. I do a lot of sport and this fits the bill. Swimming all year round I like to know the temperature of the water and how long I can stay in. Bigger buttons for my chunky fingers. Easy to use and the different watch faces are great. The night time look is very good red colour. Always on feature is also good and the extended battery life. I can charge it at night ready for a full day. The battery life for me is good almost 2.5 days without a charge depending on usage. Overall a good build quality and plenty of useful features and apps. Upgrade from Garmin Fenix 6

I had always been put off by the poor battery life of the Apple Watch so opted for the Garmin Fenix series. The Ultra battery life is now more acceptable giving nearly three days of normal usage the Garmin has considerably more days of use but the extra functionality of the Ultra makes up for the lack of extra days making it a better option if you are using an IPhone. There are no pre installed maps for outdoor use and third party apps are required for true outdoor navigation capabilities. I however only use the watch in conjunction with a paper map and compass for grid reference confirmation so it suits my requirements. All other watch functions and features are well thought out and useful.
