Arai XD-4 Cover Motorcycle Helmet The Arai XD4 is world renowned for being one of the best ADV touring helmets on the market and one of the few that achieves a Snell safety rating. The XD4 incorporates all of the same great qualities found in Arai's other helmets including the comfort liner and cheek pads that feature 5mm peel-away pads that allow riders to tailor the fit. The shell of the Arai XD4 Helmet has also been aerodynamically tuned and, in concert with the removable floating peak, funnels air into the redesigned vents, improving overall ventilation and mitigating buffeting at speed. this is my 4th Arai and they are fantastic helmets. I had recently purchased a new motorcycle and wanted a new helmet and was wanting to try a modular. since Arai doesn't make one I thought I give a Schuberth a try. so I wore it around the dealership for about 1/2 hour seemed to be good a bit snug but I know from years of rider they will loosen up a bit. on the ride home which was about 2 1/2 hours I got an incredible hot spot where there is a seem, long story short about 3 rides later a I gave up and got this Arai my 2nd of this model and love it . From light weight dual sport rides on my Husky 501 to 2000 mile trips on my BMW GSA, if an Array fits your head shape they are worth the $$.

The XD-4 is slightly small, but very comfortable. The face shield has some different curves to it which gives a little bit of a floating effect if you wear it in the house and several different light sources are hitting it. But once you're outside it is far less noticeable if at all. There is lots of venting on the helmet. Air flow or lack of is noticeable when open or closed. Some type of filter in the mouth vent to keep bug guts from going into your mouth would be nice. A fog resistant face shield should come as standard equipment with the helmet but it doesn't. The stock face shield does fog up even with all vents and exhaust ports open. Shield and visor are easy to remove and swap out with a slotted screwdriver. There is an issue with loud whistling in the helmet over 40mph when the visor is up. Tried closing vents and ports, that didn't help. Moving my head slightly up or down did the trick to stop the whistling but obviously you're riding position is your riding position. The chin strap also seemed positioned a little more toward my throat which was irritating/uncomfortable but that issue seemed to havedissipated. Nothing special with the visor, slightly adjustable, does what I need it to do. If you wear glasses/sunglasses this helmet is thoughtful about that. Glasses fit in easy, big plus for me. There is a chin spoiler on the front, it needs a more positive locking system when open or remove it completely.I purchased this helmet based on Arai's safety standards and commitment to quality. It is a well constructed helmet and definitely does feel like quality. I do feel protected and more confident while wearing it. For the price make anti fog standard and address the whistling. I would reccomend this product but also advise on the issue I have. I have about 400-500 miles on the helmet and I would buy it again.

Best helmet ever. I had many Arai and Shoei helmets before, but this one is by far the best. Less noise and easy to build in a communication system. This helmet is worth the price !Only downside is when you want to swap shield, you need to unscrew 4 screws. It does not come with the easy click system like they have on other helmets.

I recently purchased the Matte White/Black/Gray Frost XD4 Vision Helmet. It’s my second XD4. The first one the plastic doohickeys that fasten the visor/face shield on the sides of the helmet crumbled away and the helmet became useless. This one has 1000 miles on it and the same thing has happened. It still works for now but I imagine things will deteriorate. I don’t understand why Arai hasn’t dealt with this. I feel like an idiot having bought a second one. Very disappointed having spent over $700.00.
I REALLY WANTED TO LOVE THIS HELMET. I HAVE HAD ARAI HELMETS BEFORE THAT FIT ME PERFECTLY. THIS ONE HOWEVER, DOES NOT. I STILL GIVE IT 5 STARS BECAUSE THE QUALITY AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL IS AMAZING. THIS HELMET RUNS A LITTLE TIGHT FRONT TO BACK SO I HAVE TO RETURN IT. AFTER MAYBE 10 MINUTES OF WEARING IT, MY FOREHEAD WAS IN PAIN. IF NOT FOR IT BEING INCOMPATIBLE FOR MY NOGGIN, I WOULD KEEP IT FOREVER.
I guess I have an Arai head. This one fits me perfectly. No pressure points, no excess movement while on the bike. Pretty large view port...allows for good periperhal vision in traffic. Visor doesn't seem overly affected by wind....I might notice it more if more of my riding was on the interstate. I swapped in a dark tint visor. Swapping visors is not that hard, but it takes a little time. Try not to do it on the road...you might lose the small parts. I really like that the interior pads all come out for cleaning. I'm not sure how to best care for the Matte/Frost finish. It's expensive, but worth it I think.
Helmet is excellent. I was concerned about the helmet's peak as from my previous helmets, I know that in speeds higher than 100 km/h, the pressure of wind will push my helmet and my head backward but with this great Arai, even with 140km/h, I have no issues, wonderful. Ventilations is satisfactory, road noise is not an issue Regarding its safety level, I have had no accident yet but considering its overall performance and brand, I am pretty confident that it will be a life saver.
While I still feel like I'm getting to know the helmet, I am very happy with it so far.I do like the fit. It might be nice to have a magnetic strap latch? The ventilation seems good?..although this is the biggest thing I feel like I'm still learning.Very much seems to be a quality helmet.
Maybe it's a good helmet but the protections or pads fall off easily and are very difficult to install, even more so when in a hurry. the fans of the helmet in less than a year one no longer works and sounds loudly in the helmet. I bought the arai xd4 thinking it was the best
This is my second XD4. Before that I wore the XD3. I guess just have an Arai shaped head. This helmet fits me like it was made for me. And ventilates extremely well. I have been wearing this brand since the early 1990s and in my opinion there is nothing better on the market. Fit and finish our beyond compare, shield is extremely clear and optically correct as well as being very tough as long as you are careful when you clean it. And ever since wearing my first XD model with the visor, I just refuse to buy a helmet that does not have this feature because you can ride right into the settings sun and just tilt your head and block it out. And one more cool thing, I ride a BMW 1250 GS adventure with the HP Color scheme and gosh darn it doesn?t the Drudi Performance paint job just exactly match the stripes. Sure of course it?s expensive but as has been said many times, if you have a cheap head, settle for a cheap helmet.
