Comfort, Performance and Edge

Hubby loves the Atom Hoody, but I prefer him sans hoody. The wear, fit and performance are identical, but looks dressier. He gets a new Atom, or two, every year. Wish that Arcteryx was more inclusive with sizing. Larger people also like quality, performance and being active. It's a 6-star jacket, but loses stars due to company bias, only.

Comfortable, get-you-out-there, do-it-all jacket!

I have heard great things about Arc'teryx's Atom LT. I have been a long-time fan of the Atom SL, a piece I use every day. However, in some outings, especially late fall winter, or early spring, the SL isn't warm enough. The Atom LT comes in for those chilly belay or cold bouldering outings where I just need a little more. Arc'teryx's Coreloft insulation is just right: it regulates temperature when I start building up heat but dispenses it so I'm not sweating through. The LT fits nicely under a shell in case the weather heads south but as a stand-alone piece, it's great. Even after some hard abuse, the jacket stands up. I wish I had one earlier.

Everyone should have one of these at least once

What an amazing mid layer, turns out to be way more versatile then I had originally though. Because it is so comfortable, I wear it as a daily coat to run errands. It transitions so well from cold car to warm store. I have also worn it under my sports jacket to get that nice protection on that chilly train platform. But most importantly, it’s a perfect compliment to my Beta AR hard shell or Hellium soft shell. I still prefer a fleece mid like a Kynite for more active hikes but the Atom is spot on for those colder days. Huge thanks to Adrian at Square One store for helping me pick the right type and size.

Extremely Delicate and NOT Durable
12 September 2024

Jacket looks sharp and does the job as a layering jacket to keep you warm in mild weather. However, it is extremely delicate and snags easily even with very light city use. Arc'Teryx would not warranty the tear that occurred within the first couple of weeks of light wear and instead installed an ugly black patch over the tear in my blue jacket. The durability of this jacket does not meet expectations for a high-end outdoor garment, and Arc'Teryx has much better options. I do not recommend this product for any use.

Good general jacket for 50-70F temps
1 January 2024

Happy with it. This is one of the only jackets in the category with no hood it seems. I live in San Diego so dont have a need for hood. This jacket is great for the 50-70F temps. Sometime's I'll wear a down vest under this if its close to the 50s. I like that it is vented at the sides. You can definitely feel it if youre going fast on a bicycle, scooter, motorcycle, etc. You can feel the air coming in at the sides. I like the fit too its slim without being overly slim. I can still wear layers underneath.

Great Jacket for Active People
20 December 2023

Great jacket for being active! It's form fitting without restricting movement. Easy to layer. Warm without being bulky. Zippers zip smoothly. Collar is soft. The only con is also a pro: The cuff on the wrist keeps wind out but it's hard to pull over a watch to track your activity. I've always been a fan of down jackets, but I've been reaching for this one more and more. I may need a backup in neutral colors. For reference, I'm 5'4" 125 and got a small in Black Sapphire. LOVE this color.

Great fit and look but very thin/light
1 January 2024

It’s described as a light and packable jacket and that’s exactly what it is. Great looking but very thin and light. I really question how warm it is; not very from my experience. Others seem to really enjoy this jacket but it was simply too thin for me. Held it up to the light and feel like I could almost see through it. I think the thicker version of this jacket would be better suited for my needs, however, a lot of people’s complained about the baggy fit.

Nice and light- just doesn't fill the need I have
5 December 2023

Falls between two stools- large is a nice fit and flattering in the body (40 inch chest & hips), though sleeves are far too bulky. It would fit under a raincoat or heavier outer layer- in which case why have such a high collar and bulky sleeves. If worn on its own I don't get the stretchy, non-insulated side panels. I'd prefer this with a lower collar like the men's, same construction throughout, and slimmer sleeves. For this price it has to be perfect. And must you have the prominent logo?

Stains even with hand sanitizer- AVOID
7 March 2023

My husband got this for me for Christmas in Moonlit. From the get go there were issues with staining. Some drops of hand sanitizer got on this jacket and it took oxyclean and 3 washes to get it out. No matter what i did the smallest drop of anything has stained it. Never in my years of wearing outdoor jackets in the PNW have I encountered such poor quality in a high end jacket. I sent photos and an inquiry to Arc'teryx customer service and they said that it's not covered under a limited warranty, so I'm stuck with a jacket that won't stand up to even daily use/elements. Their answer was not helpful and they lost 2 customers today. For such a high end product I expect at least good customer service. They didn't even offer me advice for getting the stains out. Too short
16 October 2023

I have three of these and they're fine but just too short for my liking - I'm tall, but not that tall (5'9.5"). It's not so much that I dislike the look of this length, but I just wish there was a little more clearance when I have layers underneath. E.g., I have to tuck in my base layer, or else it sticks out the bottom. My other frustration is that the smaller sizes have shorter lengths - if I was an XL, the length would be fine. Why does Arc'teryx assume that taller people are also bigger? Us taller thinner ladies are stuck with things that are too short. It's frustrating. Also, I really dislike the colour selection this fall season. Where are the rich, bright colours?
