This has always been the main selling point for me spending the extra money and buying Arc'teryx products. Thank you for making things right in this instance!!!

I purchased this jacket roughly two months ago, and I must say, it has been nothing short of great. One of the best features I've noticed about this jacket is its lightweight nature. I've also used this jacket on hikes and around the city. The Black Sapphire colour, which I have always been fond of, was just as captivating on this piece. This jacket has incredible fit and finish. Not only is it incredibly lightweight and easy to pack, but the material feels impressively durable. The C-Knit backing adds a soft touch, and feels great against your skin. The adjustability of the Stormhood is outstanding. Whether you’re rocking a helmet, a hat, or nothing at all, you can adjust it so it still looks great. I feel this version really hit the sweet spot with fit. You’ve got enough space for layering with a Cerium Hoody jacket underneath but yet it still maintains a sleek silhouette with only a T-shirt underneath. I’m 5’11, 190 lbs, athletic build and the Large fit perfectly.
This jacket was purchased with the intent to be used for hiking and skiing. After less than 2 weeks use, (4 - 5 days of use) there were abrasion tears along the bottom of the jacket. I suspect a backpack or a pair of skis rubbed against the bottom string cinch of the jacket. Unfortunately, Arcteryx wouldn’t warranty, as they considered this wear and in the case of tear, literally tear. Although extremely disappointed, I can understand the reasoning. However, I do find that this is odd for a product which is described exactly as how it was used, wearing a backpack for a hike, or carrying skis to go skiing. I was more shocked as the beta AR is described, as being great for all round purposes, which it’s being used in such a manner, and also the jacket is sold as made ... I was more shocked as the beta AR is described, as being great for all round purposes, which it’s being used in such a manner, and also the jacket is sold as made with goretex pro “most durable” material. So this is something to take note of if you’re looking to purchase this product. In any case, I wasn’t looking for a warranty, as I love the jacket, but was more seeing if there was a way to patch or reinforce the area, even if I had to pay for it. So I was surprised when the only thing they would offer was tape, which was unexpected as I have had various other previous shells repaired via patching by Arc’teryx. Apparently there is a new policy where they will no longer re patch shells and only offer tape? However, even more disheartening was how quick they were to send me off to a local repair shop. This leads me to question how much faith they currently put in their own products, and how much they will actually repair a product. If there is already a third-party ready to repair, I unfortunately do not sense a great future for the repairability of shell jackets by Arc’teryx going forward. It seems like the only repair they are willing to offer for a shell jacket is tenacious tape. I’ve had amazing service with arcteryx the past couple of years, having owned a Beta LT, an alpha LT, and many other shells. It seems the company has changed substantially, and the way they stand behind the product has also changed. If you’re looking for a great looking shell jacket to wear around town in the rain, this could be it. It feels much more sturdy than the regular beta. The zipper feels great, (I found the current regular beta jacket zippers cheap feeling), and the fit is amazing. It is also great for layering, as long as you don’t layer with hoods. However, if you are contemplating doing even the slightest bit of outdoor activity, which requires wearing a backpack, or carrying anything, I would strongly advise you to avoid this jacket. It’s simply not durable, and you will end up in my position where I am going to have to repair a 2 week old jacket myself. You can look into maybe a used Beta SV, which I understand is made with tougher material. Let’s hope my case was just a bad experience, but I am now looking to support other companies, which stand behind the product, and are willing to do proper repairs, even if it is for a price. I hope this is just a one off bad experience as I love the dead bird, but I have to say, the overall experience has left me with little confidence.
I bought bought the Beta lightweight hoping it would be a leap forward in comfort, breathability, weight, and protection to replace a very old beta LT that is past it's service life and to fill a void that my Alfa SV can't handle because of weight and heat.Trying it on in the store, the fit was good, the c-knit backer is comfortable, the storm hood is amazing, the stitching and attention to detail is there, and I had great hopes......until I started using it in the field and putting the jacket through it's intended paces in bad wet weather. Like many other reviews, I found the DWR wore off at an incredibly alarming pace. The jacket wetted out at a rate that if I hadn't known otherwise, would have assumed it was a softshell rather than a hardshell product.I'm ... The jacket wetted out at a rate that if I hadn't known otherwise, would have assumed it was a softshell rather than a hardshell product.I'm not sure what went wrong with the ePE membrane or PFC-free DWR, but the environmental sustainability marketing gimmicks do NOT offset the total disappointment that I have in this product. This is nothing short of a disaster if this jacket is purchased for anything other than style and light use around town.Hardshells are a crucial piece of life safety and I (along with many others) rely on premium brands like Arc'Teryx for premium products for extreme use to keep us safe out in the field. This new weather "proofing" formula is NOT it . More alarming, the pure volume of issues this jacket/membrane is showing (both on the official page but also other forums) makes me wonder if Arc'Teryx even did actual field testing or if all their testing was done in a lab. No one in their right mind could take this jacket up a mountain or on a multi-day wet and rainy trip. I don't have the luxury to wash or re-DWR my jacket every 2-3 times I wear it when out on a multi-day trip.
These new Beta Jackets Wet out very quickly and I cannot recommend this jacket to be used for anything other than fashion. Like others have stated here this should not be used as a rain jacket as it cannot withstand a heavy rainfall for more than a few minutes. I was walking for less than 20 minutes in moderate rain and the entire jacket was almost completely wet out when I got home. The factory DWR is terrible, you should not have to reapply a DWR after 1 occurrence of getting wet. I reapplied a better DWR but for some reason it doesn't like to adhere to the fabric and I tested the jacket out and still had areas that wet out for some reason. Once the Jacket wets out it makes the goretex useless and not breathable. These new PFAS free goretex jackets are terrible ... Bought the Beta AR about 8 months ago believing that the GoreTex Pro offers superior performance and reliability. I only used the jacket a few times and I recently noticed a small hole in the fabric. I've contacted Arc'teryx support and was told that the issue is not covered under the warranty and cannot be resolved. The only thing they offered to do was to send me a piece of tape so I can patch it myself. I own 8 different GoreTex jackets and many other products from Arc'teryx. I've been a loyal customer for years, but this experience has severely damaged my trust in the company and their products. More likely than not I am not going to buy this brand again. They sell the promise of high quality products that are supposed to last a lifetime, instead they didn't last one year of very light usage (mostly used for commuting to work. I haven't even used in a hike or skiing yet). Nothing that I have used the jacket for could explain the how the hole was created. To top it all off, support has been slow and unresponsive. I would expect that Arc'teryx would at least offer to do the patching themselves using materials and colour that matches the original construction of the jacket. Not recommended.
I purchased this jacket soon after release in early February as a replacement for my very old Beta AR. I loved my Beta AR’s pocket placement and easy to use pit zips, and wanted a replacement that kept these features, shed significant weight, and didn’t compromise much on durability. Additionally, I was interested in trying out the new ePE membrane and PFC-free DWR that Gore-Tex has been rolling out. In the following two months I’ve use it about 15 times in precipitation both while hiking and around time.Construction: coming from my old Beta AR, the evolution of Arc’teryx shells is most apparent here. High stitch count remains on every seam without loose stitches or loose threads, while advancements include a refinement of the patterning and narrower seam tape, refined wrist adjusters, and a welcomed longer length. The Stormhood style is simpler, lighter, and easier to layer with hooded mid-layers compared to my AR’s Drophood.Fabric and ePE Membrane: The 40D and 70D hybrid construction of the Lightweight is similar to my Beta AR’s, but slightly smoother and quieter, and much more supple and light. The C-knit backer is more comfortable than the tricot backer my AR has. Breathability of the ePE feels better than my Beta AR (with the caveat that my Beta AR is literally over a decade old) and about the same as my other shell, a Mountain Equipment Garwhal which is made of Paclite. When really exerting myself or in warmer precipitation, I find any waterproof/breathable membrane eventually can’t keep up, so the pit zips of the Lightweight are a welcome addition (despite the similar good breathability of the Garwhal, they are sorely missed on that jacket). I haven’t used Gore-Tex Active or Pro Most Breathable, so I can’t compare the breathability to shells made of that.Fit: for my somewhat lanky self, 182 cm/82 kg, the medium is a great fit and the shell nicely accommodates any baselayer+midlayer combination I’ve tried out. At the same time, it avoids being needlessly bulky to accommodate said layers. The fabric patterning is refined from my other shells, and offers great mobility without restriction, without or without a midlayer on underneath. The PFC-DWR: Obviously the biggest question has been the durability of the PFC-DWR, and I’m happy to say my experience has been overall good. While the PFC-Free DWR obviously does not last as long as my AR’s C8 DWR, I can’t say I’ve noticed it’s performance or durability being significantly worse than the C6 DWR on my Beta LT Hadron pants, which I believe is the DWR used on the original Beta Lightweight. Just this weekend, after nearly two months, did I notice significant DWR failure on the shoulders of my Lightweight - however, I also saw this on the outer side of my Beta LT Hadron pants which I’ve not even worn 5 times since purchase. Today I washed my Lightweight with Atsko Sport Wash, reproofed the DWR with Granger’s, and the shell is back to beading like new.Overall, I think the revised Beta Lightweight represents a great choice for a jack-of-all-trades shell. It has a fit that nicely adapts to any midlayer combo you could want to use, a hood that can fit a helmet if your adventures should need one, and has functional and easy to use pockets and pit zips. In my opinion, the small price of having to wash and reproof slightly more frequently than before is worth the elimination of PFCs from the jacket’s life cycle, and honestly might help me just stick to regularly washing my shells as we all already should be doing.
Not much to say about fabrics and waterproofing. After checking a lot of information, it is said that the new beta jacket has been upgraded for 80 days, which is more wear-resistant, and a search and rescue locator has been added. Secondly, the bust is also suitable. It's just right to wear thick fleece inside. atom heavyw can zip up and it won't be very crowded. cerium down will not work. If there is a need to add down inside, it is recommended to buy a bigger size.
