The fit is perfect for layering up! (usually wear a medium or small, got a medium in the beta and it's loose fit is great for layering). This jacket is so versatile I can wear it with puffies in cold wet weather or as a wind shell on blustery days. It's small and easy to bring with me while offering massive amounts of protection for its size. Big fan! I was lucky enough to snag the ReCUT version from the Arc'teryx Whistler store, and love the concept of using end-of-the-role material for one-off color combos. Nice work Arc'teryx, a classic long-lasting piece I'm proud to own!

I purchased this jacket because I was looking for a three-layer Goretex jacket that I could use for running and for all-around outdoor wear. I have tried other three-layer Goretex jackets - this 40 denier jacket is slightly heavier than the 30 denier jacket I have used by another brand, making it a tiny smidge heavier and more crinkly, but also slightly more durable. In comparison to that other jacket, the Arcteryx has more features and overall better engineering. The waist draw cord, for example, is easier to use. The hood has more capability for adjustment, with potential for being tightened horizontally and vertically. The brim is very well-fitted, hanging down slightly in front of my face to block drizzle, sleet or snow when I'm out running (it's not only ...Ā MoreI purchased this jacket because I was looking for a three-layer Goretex jacket that I could use for running and for all-around outdoor wear. The brim is very well-fitted, hanging down slightly in front of my face to block drizzle, sleet or snow when I'm out running (it's not only annoying, it can hurt!). The pit zips have two way zippers so I can adjust them to sit any way I like! Size-wise, I noticed some women find this jacket slightly big. I am 5'8" and 122 lbs and I would have to say it is comparable in sizing to other goretex jackets I have tried. There's enough room to layer underneath (I wore it running last night in -17 weather layering a long-sleeved sweat-wicking layer, a 200 gm long-sleeved merino shirt, a micro-fleece sweater and the Arcteryx Atom LT hooded jacket) and the fit was comfortable. The shell was warm and breathed well, I had enough room to move, I did not feel constricted. I have had quality/warranty issues with de-lamination of zippers on goretex jackets before, and the lamination on this jacket appears to be of a superior quality. That being said, I am careful when zipping and unzipping it, I make sure the tracks are aligned on either side and when I get in the house from the cold I wait a few minutes for the jacket to warm up before I unzip it (I'm not sure what temperature the lamination is tested to and I don't want to go through the hassle of making a warranty claim). The fit is nice enough to wear in the city if I needed to, even with all of its performance features it still has a stylish cut, very neat and minimalist.

Over the years I've been searching for the perfect spring & summer ski touring kit. This jacket is getting me slightly closer to my goal of moving fast and light and not over-heating while ski touring in sun and warmer temps. The Beta Lightweight is truly lightweight and highly packable, but does not compromise on fit and function. I purchased a size medium (I am 5'5", 120lbs, athletic body type) and like the fit, through it could be slightly longer (this would add weight though...) as I prefer a more "freeride" fit for my ski clothes especially outerwear. The pit zips work great for ventilation while moving and high output use, and the Gore material of the jacket protects well from wind, precipitation, and walking through a wet cloud. The lighter forage green color option is nice. I like light colors that keep me cooler but don't get super dirty looking from being used outside. This jacket is simple and has all you need without any of the extras that add weight or over-design.I would love to see this material type used for some super lightweight ski touring pants with full size zips (max ventilation, easy to put on and take off with a harness and ski boots on), durable knees/shins, an ankle fit that could go over a ski boot, and more breathable material in the upper part of the pants...just saying...a Beta Mx Lightweight ski touring pant would be incredible. ;)
I had a Beta LT that I picked up on sales about 15 years ago and that thing was bomb proof. Shed the rain and kept me dry for many a years until the lamination that head the waist cord and hood started delaminating. Decided to get a new one in August 2022 and have had it a little over a year with very little use (less than 10 times light drizzle). Took it on a 3 night backpack trip in the Olympic National Park where rain was forecast and got soaked the first day. That said, even the Patagonia 3-ply H2No shells that my partner and son were wearing finally soaked through by the second day. These expensive 3-ply layer Gore-Tex and H2No technologies just were no match for the Alaskan storm front that came through the Pacific Northwest this week. These will not keep you dry.
I first purchased an Arcteryx beta jacket years ago. It was a great jacket, lasted a long time and retained its waterproofing right until the end. Needless to say, it seems the quality has gone downhill while the prices have gone up. I picked up another beta jacket about this time last year and already I've noticed it soaking through during heavy rainfall and the material seems not as great of quality. Flimsier, as one review pointed out. Add to the fact that they done away with the pro discount for military members and I'm finding myself one disappointed customer. It's too bad, they're quite stylish but I think they really need to work on the quality. Especially for the prices being asked.
This jacket is a staple for me year-round! I work outdoors in Ontario, Canada as a wildlife and conservation photographer, and this is my go-to rain jacket for spring/summer/fall. I also wear it in the winter as an outer layer over my Thorium Hoody. The material is durable. I've bushwhacked through dense forests wearing this jacket and it hasn't torn. I find the waterproofing to be excellent, while the jacket is much more breathable than other comparable jackets I've worn.I typically wear either an XS or S in Arc'teryx. I wear an XS in this jacket and find I'm still able to comfortably wear multiple layers underneath.
I usually wear size S in soft shell jackets from ArcāTeryx, but this jacket is HUGE! My Beta LT has been determined, so I picked this one as replacement because this model is similar as LT, and ONLY this model has Vitality colour. Ordered online, very disappointed after I received and tried it on, it was terrible fit! If you like boxy fit, youāll love this one. See attached pictures, yellow one is my another shell jacket from Arcāteryx.Beside that, LOVE the colour Vitality! Not sure why the Moonlit is most popular colour this year, for me, itās not that easy to spot in the woods, mountains, or ski on the slopes.Unfortunately, had to return it at the end.
I bought an XXS of this coat two years ago and have loved that jacket to death. Itās been on countless mountains/long backpacking/hiking trips. I loved the slip fit of my original coat. Iām 5ā3ā, 110lbs and unfortunately I often find myself swimming in the smallest sizes of most technical brands. Imagine my disappointment then when I purchased this jacket again in the same XXS and find the jacket is loose around the armpits and waist. I still have my original beta light jacket from 2 years ago and when I tried it on again itās apparent this new 2023 version of the coat is a much larger fit. Such a bummer. I hate feeling like a child dressing up in adult clothing and thatās now the feeling I get wearing this new coat.
This jacket was a big splurge, but I do not regret it. The Beta LT is a beautiful mauve color which is a nice alternative to black. It is very warm but light and packable. The hood is perfectly large to fit over my winter hats and can be tightened as needed. The sleeves have a Velcro adjustment at the cuff which was very easy to use even with big winter gloves on. The pit zips are an amazing feature to help control the heat, they zip in both directions which is a really useful feature. I found the small to be a perfect fit, flattering but a little roomy so I can fit layers underneath. I have used in the wet snow and found it to be waterproof - looking forward to seeing how it does in the rain. I will be using this layer for all 4 seasons of hiking.
